Evening Ladies,
Thanks for the comments re the flat. I am very excited though I am worried that I might be compromising on the no garden aspect. But the flat is so lovely that I have booked another viewing with my brother on Saturday.
1) Busy day at work... Yay! I have been so bored recently that it felt good to be busy again.
2) Got my hair cut - it was beginning to look mop like (20% off)
3) Had an appt with the dermotologist at the hospital... And the parking was free! Not sure why but the boom was up and I certainly wasn't complaining (esp as it now costs £4)
4) Getting some good support from some of our managers at work. I had been pleading with one of the directors to communicate out something which he didn't do... So I took it on myself to do it and got a great reaction.
5) Home just after 5pm
Night all... Hope you are all safe in all this wind.
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
1. NSD
2. DD has come home from school fired up about her new homework project and we've started doing some research into double-decker buses! She's got lots of ideas of crafty and writing things to do.
3. Lovely email chat with a former colleague during the day, hopefully we'll get to meet up for a cuppa one weekend soon.
4. New neighbours finally moved into the house next to mine, they seem really sweet and DD and the neighbour the other side's children are all very excited as they have a dog and some cats!! Happy children
5. Did loads of planning for this term's Rainbows schedule, and am very excited to start term next week with the girls, especially when we eat Lamington's for Australia Day
6. DD and I popped over to friends this afternoon for a natter and the kids to play.
7. Received a £5 M&S voucher to use next time I use my M&S credit card - which I would if I could remember the flipping PIN number! I'm not going to count it as savings challenge money until I spend it, and must call them to get a new PIN. Nice to get something for nothing though
8. Received a free Graze box to tempt me back, as delicious as it was (DD and I scoffed 3 out of 4 boxes without the contents touching the sides!), I won't be spending loadsacash on yummy snacks, so have cancelled my account again (until the next time they send me a coupon for a free box)

Watching practical magic from the very beginning and through to the end and loving every bit of it.
Phoned DF, we are going over to help him for the day tomorrow in the garden so hope the weather holds off.
Breakfast was half a pack of 5p tea cakes and the rest will be breakfast tomorrow, Lunch was also 5p sandwiches picked up yesterday – I see a theme here J.
All of the Christmas decorations are down and packed away.
Very promising calls about a couple of roles.0 -
Good evening all !
kittikins- not sure what Lammingtons are but they sound cakey ?
Ladyhawk - a second viewing very wise. Hope you still get "that" feeling .
5 for today
1. Yay - its my Friday as I work a four day week.
2. OH sent a text to me at work stating that our new mattress had arrived .
3. Productive day at work - I am running a pilot project and it was good to meet up with the other interest groups involved - but nearly died when I was asked to do some sort of teaching on the subject matter. I am better at "doing" than "talking about doing" , and I am actually quite shy so this horrified me . Was then informed that it was not going to be as onerous as I first thought i.e no powerpoint " look at me" type of scenario but more of a Q and A session .....my heart rate then slowed down a bitI am too old to squirm for a few quid!
4. Mattress in situ when I got home and has puffed itself up to its supposed form. The old mattress is in the lounge and my lounge now looks a bit like the set of Shameless. Its too vile for Freecycle , it will go to the tip tommorrow squashed in to my lovely German car as OH has sold his truck:(
5. OH has two interviews lined up for next week - I hope he gets something as although he won his emplyment tribunal , it still knocked his confidence even though he represented himself and the other party threw London barristers and solicitors at it . He has yet to hear the amount the has been awarded following the judgement hearing . I have everything crossed for him and for you purplekitten.
I am off to try out the new mattress - if it is horrid I still have the old one in the lounge :rotfl:
Have a good evening all:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Ladyhawk, how exciting about the flat! Keep us posted with how you get on with the second viewing.
Mine for today:
1. It's the start of a three day weekend for me! Yay!
2. NSD - been lots of those recently. Am saving up for a mini-oven and some other kitchen equipment so I'm watching the pennies.
3. Confirmed over the phone that my new foster furbaby, Fudgie, will be arriving next week! So excited!
4. Having a sod it day. No housework, no exercise, no Spanish or typing practice and I'm totally unrepentant.
5. Getting a rare bit of praise from the guy I work for.
6. Asking for and getting a refund for some electric equipment. More money for the mini-oven savings pot.
7. Sorting a date for getting some minor repairs done in my house. Once they're done, I'll get it on the market to sell. I need to motor on with moving to Portsmouth and my new life there.
8. Finding some time to read.
9. Stuffing my face with a huge plate of stew for dinner with lots of veg.
10. Having a bit of a lie-in until nearly 9am (part of having a sod it day!)
Stay safe in this wild weather, everyone! xLife is not a dress rehearsal.0 -
Lamington's are squares of sponge cake, properly covered all over in chocolate icing and then coated in dessicated coconut
Luckily we don't have any nut allergy sufferers in our Rainbows group, and I will probably make fairy cakes and let them put Nutella and coconut on the top instead to make it easier and less messy for the girls
mmmmm, I could eat one now!
savingforoz - if you're near a LIDL tomorrow morning they've got mini ovens in at £29.99 (oven and grill) or for £49.99 at Robert Dyas, you can get one anytime with 2 rings on the top of it. I'm probably going to get the RD one when we move, as we won't have a cooker, and as much as I love my remoska, I can't do everything in it!0 -

Bit disgusted with myself as haven't been at all productive today.
anyway
1. Picked up more whoopsies in Mr M
2. Washing dried on the line
3. Line blew away at one point (it's a rotary with a drying cover) the pleasure is that i didn't notice until i stod looking at the space where it should have been and was just looking blankly at the space - then creased up laughing.
4. HM veggie lasagne from the freezer for tea
5. Not having to do the round of pick ups as DD didn't go to drama and DS was collected from footie by another mum.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Evening all,
Quick five pleasures for Thursday:
1. Another NSD and NPD and £1 in the pot.
2. Feeling so much healthier being wheat-free again. After a month it is now really starting to show. I'm less achy, less tired, less bloated. What is more surprising is that, this time of strictly giving up wheat, I'm not actually craving it any more. I'm not sure what's happened.:)
3. My DSs making me laugh this evening - some very silly conversations going on.
4. Unexpected chat on the phone with someone I hadn't talked with in a while - both her and her hubby are really lovely people and she had some good news to give me.
5. While getting on with other jobs, catching up on episodes of various radio dramas that I've been following on iplayer.
Sweet dreams

Getting tired here. Boys STILL awake (despite first day back at school) and getting up constantly for drinks, toilet, chats. And the cat is throwing himself on my knee all the time - go away, I'm trying to type!
Anyway, 5 for today.
1) Boys back to school fairly happily.
2) Had hair cut at college - £2.75! I had another go at the fringe myself but its fine.
3) Sneaky cup of hot chocolate in a cafe outside college.
4) Sent my CD's off to Music Magpie so should get £19 for that.
5) Remembered to send my friend's son his 5th birthday present.
6) Had lunch at mum and dad's.
7) House reasonably tidy.
8) Nice tea - did brocolli cheese followed by bread and butter pudding because I had a baguette left that was slightly stale.
9) Sons' new snow boots came through the post so they put them on and we went for a walk.
10) Going to risk having a nice bath now and hope not to be interrupted 30 times....0
