o/ - thats me waving as I pop in to wish everyone a happy new beer, and feel reassured that there are some old faces still as well as new!
For posterity - I am going to find 5!
1) hit my halfway target on weight loss, and managed to lose over xmas too boot
2)survived the storms almost unscathed
3)The remaining hens survived the storm too! (we only have 9 left, (originally had 15, 14, 16, 13, 14, 11, 12, 10, 9)and thats only because we seem to have turned into hen rescue argyll!)
4)Had a gorgeous walk today on the forestry path, almost assault course clinmbing under or over fallen trees but was lovely to get oot.
5)reading back and recognising names made me smile
Take care guys xxxI will pay jexygirl the compliment of saying that she invariably writes a lot of sense!0 -
I didn't go to the GP Chicken, I keep a course anti-b's and steroids in for times such as this. I think it just seems bad as they're getting fewer and further between, thanks to meds and weekly pulm rehab sessions. I'll be fine by the weekend
Hi Jex, good to see you
CCP I'm so sorry this has happened, but so pleased you have everyone on your side. Hope the stupid person gets his come-uppance good and proper
Reading all the posts with great interest, so much going on with everyone and most of it sounds very exciting!
1. Phone call from a worried ex-OH re his move to sheltered accom tomorrow. He's a packing box short, his new bed hasn't arrived, the phone isn't being installed yet and he can't get his mobile to charge, etc etc...assured him it'll all go smoothly and he just has to get himself to the new address. The pleasure is his moving, relieved to know he'll have wardens to keep an eye on him
2. New steam cleaner arrived, I'm looking forward to playing with it
3. Had one third of the ys pork loin, very yum
4. The indoor potted Christmas tree is getting a little too tall for my lounge (started at 2 feet, now 2'6") so will put it on freecycle as suitable for someone with a conservatory
5. Foul weather all day but fortunately nothing damaged, we've been very lucky.
Sweet dreams

Morning all!
Last day (boo) and the mountain is closed at the moment due to the heavy snow! Yesterday was a mini adventure, as we dropped down into the next valley lunch, then they closed the lifts so we were stuck there  we finally managed to get a free bus back, courtesy of the ski peeps, as they had closed the lifts. It was utter mayhem though and we arrived back v late, wet and shivering! Quick soak in the hot tub and a bucket of wine soon sorted us!
The bubble up from our resort is shut and I can hear them avalanche blasting, risk is currently 4/5. Hope they manage to get at least some lifts open as it would be a shame not to ski on our last day
Ahhh, just noticed that they bubble has started up again, that's me outta here!
Hope you are all ok, get vibes and hugs to all in need. Back to reality tomorrow, that's if they manage to keep the road to moutiers open!! Still, I guess there are worse places to get snowed in!!0 -
slightly stressed! Have been trying to save money on school books & have spent evening comparing prices/ ordering/bidding on ebay. Some of my son's books are $95 new (over 60 quid) and he has a pile of books needed for English about $40 each (26 quid).....have one book for DD2 on ebay & watching a few. anyway........
1.Relaxed morning!
2.Went jotter shopping this afternoon.......we have to buy absolutely everything for school, so I was shopping around for best prices for jotters!
3.Got school shoes & school socks for both girls at decent enough price.
4.Supermarket shop this morning & got lots of RTC things. These are hardly 10p bargains like back home but usually have a decent amount off. If you spend $30 or more you get a 8cent/off a litre of petrol voucher, so I counted my shopping as I went along & managed to get 3 vouchers by paying for $30 worth at a time. I had a $5 off voucher & got 10% discount on my phone top up, so quite chuffed with my shopping methods.
5.Made a stir fry from veggies in fridge & pork (RTC) from freezer for my boys! Girls & I had eaten when we were out.
It's been a nice day, warm (not too hot) with a pleasant breeze. Have a lovely day!0 -
1. Beautiful clear morning as I cycled to the station - no rain, no strong winds, just freezing air and a glorious sunrise (definite improvement from yesterday when I had to wring my hat out on the train!)
2. Got accepted onto a part-time PhD! This is *not* money-saving or time saving in any way, and will eat what is left of my free time, but very exciting nonetheless :j
3. City of London library van was in Devonshire Square round the corner from the office - got four brand new paperbacks out including Game of Thrones and the latest Emily Barr.
4. Saw very interesting job online which I might apply for.
5. Had huge breakfast and eating huge lunch all made at home from stuff kicking about since Christmas- no money spent today!

It's going to be all about the reforms to the police and how that'll affect how people experience policing really locally. That's the theory, anyway! Bit scary actually having to do it now :rotfl:Grocery challenge September 2022: £230.04/£200

Afternoon
Hello Jexy, lovely to see you posting
Pleasures for yesterday,
1. Popped to Tesco for a small shop and just bought what we needed plus had a £3 off voucher
2. DD was supposed to have some teeth out yesterday but the dentist has referred her to the hospital. The pleasure is we didn't have to see if she reacted badly to the gas again and I saved lots of money on a taxi home, we got the bus back instead.
3. Day off work due to No.2, so got some washing done and tidied the notice board in the kitchen. There were some things on there dating back to 2004:o
4. Tasty dinner of meatballs and pasta
5. chat with brother on phone, nice to catch up as haven't spoken to him for a while
Hugs to all who need them0
