    Congratulations from me too, Auntie Ladyhawk.:D Glad you're feeling better, Sparrer;

Five pleasures from me for Friday:

    1. Getting DS1 to the coach in time to get to the airport to fly to Europe for his competition. The flight landed safely and since I haven't heard anything more, I assume all is well.

    2. I had to use the car but apart from that today has been another NSD with another £1 in the pot. I'm putting a little dotty sticker on the wall calendar every day I don't buy anything and it has five little dots now that make me feel very pleased with myself. Simple pleasures! :D

    3. Quiet day in with DS2, getting on with bits and pieces.

    4. Chat on the phone with my youngest sister who filled me in on some bits of family history that I didn't know.

    5. An early evening cup of hot chocolate. I was feeling a bit hungrier than usual but, despite the house being filled with bread, biscuits and cake to fill up starving teenagers, I resisted and had the hot drink instead. I am still wheat free. It's four weeks today.

    Sweet dreams

ladyhawk - congratulations ! Could be a lot of "new" things for you this year!

savingforoz - gosh how awful ... you are good as I would have verbally gone for his "jugular" . You are wise to keep away .I used to live with a very violent , dangerous bully  who spent his entire time putting me down in ways that would make your hair curl. I won't accept this carp anymore from anyone. What is he like to your friend and does she "accept" his rudeness ? In which case she might need you more than you think x I believe Eleanor Roosevelt also said something about women being like tea bags , you only know their strength when put in hot water ..

sparrer - glad to hear that you are feeling a bit better - don't overdo it please x

    Congratulations Aunty Ladyhawk :) x

*Sob* OH just called and it took him 5 minutes to get upstairs to his bedroom and he's feeling pants, so tonight's anniversary celebration at the gig is off :( I'm going to go with my girly chum instead, not quite the same.....it got me thinking that this time last year he was able to cycle to and from my house (uphill all the way back), yet I can't remember the last time he's cycled at all. Bl**dy MS :( He sounded so sorry to be letting me down, he's not at all, I know he would be here with me if he could.

hello! Not been particularly frugal today....as in not at all!

1.Saturday scone and the crossword in the paper! We had been to see a rental property, oh my! Last decorated/probably cleaned in 1962 I reckon, a definate no! Recovered with a scone and OH had a carrot cake!

2.Went to see another house....I love this house, I love it's garden, I would like this house! Have applied and will just need to keep our fingers crossed. Where we are was the only one available at the time & we just had to take it. It needs a lot of modernising in a lot of areas & with things like leaky roofs, burst pipes, leaking water tanks occuring too often for our liking we want to move on, lease due for re-newal so we have to act fairly quickly. I just feel as customers (which we are!) we should be getting the most for our hard earned money.

3.Now comes the money part: Had to buy school uniform for DD2 & a school dress for DD1, at school open evening last month they were handing out 10% off vouchers, which I had misplaced.....chanced my luck & asked for the discount & got it! Still an absolute fortune! No polo shirts picked up in Tesc0 over here, it all has to be official school uniform! Then we had to buy DD1 a specific calculator, which cost $195 (130pounds). However, it will do her next 3 years at school. This was cheaper than buying from the school book shop by $20. I think I will set aside some money every month for school so next year doesn't come as such a shock!

4.However, was $20 cheaper than usual at Aldi, so that was a bonus.

5.DD1 has got an interview on Tuesday for a part time job......this may well cost me $20, as I had said whoever got job first (in an effort to kick son up backside & get a job!) would get $20. She is desperate to work as unlike her mother is a saver!

6.Went to see "The Iron Lady" at cinema. I really enjoyed it. On Thursday I had been telling my daughter's all the things that happened when she was in power and here it all was on the big screen. Meryl Streep's acting was superb. A pleasure was that it was all grown up's watching & the cinema was totally silent! Bliss!

7.Just off phone to my friend visiting Oz, so we are going a-visiting her tomorrow, which will be so nice!

    Have a lovely day!

Congrats to Auntie Ladyhawk and Kittikins for your 1 year anniversarry

I'm baaaack!! And a little high on lack of sleep as had to be up at 3am (uk time) and I don't *do* lack of sleep :D

Last days skiing was uneventful- much of the mountain was closed as they had upped the avi risk to 5, so we stuck to the lower slopes. Journey home was equally uneventful and I have just unpacked and buried head in sand re huge pile of washing!

Back on the OS wagon as of tomorrow, quite looking forward to it after a week of indulgence. I made a start today though, by suggesting that we didn't stop at the services on the way home, but instead that we drive on an hour and have a cup of tea at home.

Les animeaux seemed pleased to see me (either that or it was feed time) and have all been expertly cared for by mrs ponycarer and the parentals. Back to the mucking out tomorrow too!

Off for a catchy up, hope everyone is well and happy, hugs to anyone who isn't xx

    Evening all.

Millie - it's great to have you back and I'm glad you had such a nice time.

mhagster - ye-ouch at those prices!

Kittkins - many congrats on your anniversary, and I hope your OH gets better very soon to enjoy it.

Ladyhawk - many congrats to your family. :)

niksyg and jexy - it's lovely to 'see' you both.

    1) A nice long lie-in this morning, with mog asleep on my feet. :D

    2) NSD.

    3) Gave the kitchen a much-needed deep clean - the draining rack is now white again rather than gray. :o

    4) Sipping the posh ginger beer my DF bought me for Christmas: I was a bit worried as it's well past its use-by date (I doubt my DF even realised it had a use-by date, as it was considerably before Christmas) but it's fine, and comes in a very smart stoneware bottle that will be a nice ornament for the kitchen. :)

    5) Reading the latest Terry Pratchett novel, which I paid for using a voucher from doing surveys. :money:

    Have a lovely evening, all.
Back after a very long break!

    Evening Ladies,

Thanks for all the congratulations. I went to see the little darling this afternoon with my eldest DB and SIL. The new addition is so tiny (though a very healthy 3.5kg) - he felt like a large marshmallow in my arms. The poor sausage is quite bruised and gave my DB2 and SIL an awful fright when he was delivered not breathing and blue. My DB is a neonatal paediatrician so I think it was doubly scary as he knows exactly what can go wrong. Anyway all healthy now.

    1) Big bowl of porridge for breakfast
    2) Went to look at the flat... And in a certainly unMSE step... I put an offer in! It was rejected but I will try again on Monday. Gotta let them stew!
    3) DB1 and I mooched into town and bought some yummy bread and pastries
    4) DB1 drove us down to the hospital to see the baby
    5) Loads of baby cuddles

    Night night all

    L

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

Congrats on being a new auntie Ladyhawk.
Glad you are starting to feel better Sparrer.

Wow just had a lovely day, we over slept and were woken by neighbours knocking as they needed help with something so a rather quick wake up.

We did the charity shops and picked up 4 books for 50p, picked up a book that looks great and is part of a set I have never heard of, so picked up one and will pick up the rest if it’s any good.

Picked up a set of 4 what are apparently good quality dinner plates for a whole 50p the lot, result.

A new shop has opened up which is called discounts UK and it was a real mix of 99p shop bits and pieces and other things e.g. Go Cat 2kg for £2 rather than £4, a lovely and handy place I hope it lasts.

I was loathe to but needed a mascara, I am not one for make up but that is the one thing I do wear on occasion and did my research and popped into boots to pick it up but again I was loathe at the price, when OH and I pondered round thou we found a fantastic No 7 gift set reduced from £30 to £8 which has the same mascara in I was going to buy and a lovely sleek black set with everything else in it eye shadows, lippy and under it is foundations and blush, I am chuffed to bits considering I am not a make up type person some things to experiment with.

Absolutely lovely time people watching and chatting with OH.

Finished the outing by stopping in the local cafe and having a full roast dinner and cuppa for a whole £5 each, it was really lovely.
