    Evening everyone :hello:

Thank goodness it's the weekend. I needed my sleep after 4 days back at school!

    My 5 pleasures today:

    1) Lunch round at the in-laws! (ok, so not pleasure as such... but free food!)

    2) Started a new book which I'd already downloaded onto my Kindle.

    3) Sorted my spending for the week, transferring money to my "credit card" account so that it's ready for when my bill comes through.

    4) Booked a Premier Inn for when I visit a terribly ill friend next weekend in Chichester. (and have got cashback pending on Topcashback!)

    5) Read the in-laws' newspaper instead of buying our own. :rotfl:

    Evening

Ladyhawk - Congratulations on the new addition to your family
Welcome back Ampersand, Scotrae, Katholicos and niksyg lovely to see you all posting again

Pleasures for the last couple of days
    1. Managing to put together a nice birthday present for a friend with things from my present store.
    2. Lovely lunch with friends at the pub yesterday which one of my friends insisting on paying for.
    3. Two NSD in a row
    4. Resisting the urge for a takeaway yesterday and putting together a simple meal instead
    5. Not felt great today so had a very lazy day reading
    6. Yummy dinner of beef in a peppercorn and wine sauce. Made a bit more space in the freezer, it will get emptied this time.
    7. Sorting out the voucher wallet after christmas and there are still quite a few in there which will cover a couple of birthdays in the next couple of months.

Hugs to all who need them
  • Yesterdays five OS pleasures :)

    1. Making up a gift for a uni friend which looks lovely, but cost 50p! I had a funky pigeon card ready when they had their 'free card' offer and got some nice chocolates from ASDA in the sale for 50p. We only get each other a card and chocs, but that can easily cost £5! I am proud of such a lovely looking present which doesn't break my budget.

    2. Going for a second viewing on a flat and putting in an application for it - been with my OH for six years and we're finally moving out together :D Due to this I have been very OS, no spending and lots of organising in cheap ways!

    3. Used up leftover goats cheese to make cheesy garlic bread, and a jar of forgotten about pesto from the fridge to make pesto pasta for tea - both were lovely!

    4. Found a couple of 'big' flat bits such as a bed on eBay which I will be watching in hope the price doesn't go too high and I can get them.

    5. Had a nice early night listening to The Ricky Gervais Show which always makes me giggle as I fall asleep!

Hope everyone is having a nice Sunday so far :)

    Welcome back, posters!

Will try and do 5 for Friday then Saturday...

    Friday

    1) Tidied house up.

    2) Took the car to the garage because the handling is worse than ever and they didn't charge me to have a look. 2 wheel bearings needed plus work on the brakes and 4 new tyres. As my car is now 19 years old (and cost me £250 three years ago!) I think I may be looking for a slightly newer car. :-(

    3) Went to stay at OH's. :-) All children in residence and they got on together well.

    4) Had quite a good sleep despite the worst cold I have had in years.

    Saturday

    1) Had a bit of a lie in. (I was ill, after all!)

    2) Walked across the park with OH and sons.

    3) Drove back here without incident.

    4) OH and sons came over here.

    5) Went Wassailling at mum and dad's. This is the first time any of my family had met OH's sons and it went well.

    6) As a continuation of last night - waking up this morning to find oldest and youngest boys hadn't moved from the bunkbeds since last night. Went downstairs to find 2nd and 3rd in age boys (who slept on the living room floor) had had a whale of a time! Laptop out, Wii still on the floor and they had made themselves a babybel fondue!!! :-D

Evening everyone :hello: Can't believe that it's the end of another weekend. Where did that time go?!

    My 5 pleasures for today:

    1) Bought a mattress protector online from John Lewis, using a voucher that had been burning a hole in my purse! I'll pick it up from store this week (can pick up without paying for parking!). Also have earned Avios points for the purchase too!

    2) Read the newspaper over a coffee in a new cafe in town. Far cheaper than Costa and not as manic - even got served at the table!

    3) Caught up on Casualty on the iplayer! (DH doesn't like all the blood and gore!)

    4) Taken a portion of bolognese sauce out of the freezer for this evening's meal.

    5) Crossed off most of my "to do" list! :D

Have a fab evening everyone.

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    1) I woke up early (well, early for a weekend ;)) after a particularly unpleasant dream, but eventually managed to get back to sleep and dream of something nice, namely some very cute black and white kittens. :heartpuls It's just a pity they weren't real!

    2) A very nice bacon sarnie for brunch.

    3) Managed to get a little bit of studying done while listening to the football on the radio - shame the result wasn't better, though. :(

    4) Used the bacon fat left over from 2 to make the potato wedges for dinner, which beats pouring it down the sink.

    5) Pub quiz tonight - we haven't done this one for ages, so it will be nice to be back.

    Have a lovely evening, all.
Back after a very long break!
  • Todays five OS pleasures :D

    1. Made HM pizza for lunch using up leftover Christmas cheeses, pesto and yeast

    2. Got a gorgeous black double bed, originally from Next for £31 on eBay - yay! Moving out of my parents home for the first time, and we're doing really good so far at getting nice things on a budget.

    3. Cleaning and organising other items we have, ready to take to our new place.

    4. Cuddling up watching movies on TV in the warmth

    5. At my boyfriend's house for the evening, and his Mum had made scouse for tea - my favourite :)

    Evening all,

    Lovely lazy day today.

    1) See above!

    2) NPD

    3) Tidied the lounge and kitchen and put clean linen on my bed

    4) Connected my "new" TV - it was a kind gift from my brother

    5) Watching the lovely Mr Lewis winning Celebrity Mastermind

    6) Making a big batch of beef casserole - its a new recipe to me from Delia's frugal food so am looking forward to trying it.

    7) Did 2 loads of washing

    8) Spent a long time pondering the purchase of the flat. I am not sure if I am going to put in another offer. Its a lovely flat but I am really not sure if I can compromise on the lack of outside space... I love growing my own fruit and veg but the whole point of the move is to get a better social life... So does it matter if it doesn't at least have a balcony? Argh! This is when it is so difficult - I wish I had someone as invested in the decision as I am to talk it through it with.

    Night all

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

Ladyhawk - I think you know what is the right decision for you in your heart.....could you have a taxi fund to allow you to have a better social life and still get home safely afterwards until you move?

    1. NSD, no.5 for the month, hoorah!

    2. Lovely support at church when I was feeling particularly blue about OH's continued run of illness, not just the "we'll pray for him" kind, which is great, but also the more practical, "how can we help you" which is fabulous and much appreciated.

    3. Texts with OH (not as good as popping in to see him, but he's particularly 'foggy' today) so this is good that we've still managed to text

    4. DD gave me a big beauty treatment - massages, creams and ointments on my hands, feet, eyes, face and arms. I nearly fell asleep it was so lovely :)

    5. Received a call from a guitar teacher to say that DD can start lessons in a week or so - pleasureable but also painful, as I'm going to have to squeeze the budget even harder to pay for them. No point asking her !!!!less father to increase his pitiful maintenance as I'll no doubt either not get the courtesy of any reply or I'll have to hear how busy/poor he is whilst he shows off his new phone, clothes, pictures of pets or whatever.....*sigh* Stop whining Kittikins, the pleasure is DD is going to learn a fabulous instrument and hopefully teach me too as I've never learned and will be able to serenade me :)

    6. DD and I had fun whilst stripping and remaking her bed - I know, odd isn't it?!? We do have such silly giggles at times, it's a wonder we managed to get the duvet case on properly we were laughing so much!

    7. Got the bathroom sparkly clean and feel better for doing it. I always put dull housework off and them am pleasantly surprised every time that it's easier than I was dreading!

    8. Planning on having an early night once DD is asleep (if I go up the same time as her, she tends to barge into my room constantly) and maybe starting some knitting.

Glad this weekend is nearly over.
