Good evening all !
millie - enjoy your last day - but take care x
kittikins-Lamingtons sound niceMy Australian great grandfather would approve- so I should try them at least?
5 for today
1. The new mattress was ok although I woke up at 3am boiling hot . I get very nasty eczema in my inner ears and don't want to set it off ! OH's back did not look so "S" shaped when he got up and he slept like a log .
2. Took old mattress to the tip saving around £30 minimum for someone else to dispose of it .
3. Went to L*dl and got some of the German bread I like reduced , so got 2 lots and various other bits and spent a little over £10.
4. Have made a chicken , ham and leek pie ( I will pick out the ham - not a porcine person) and used the left over pastry to make cheese straws.
5. The council phoned as they are responsible for replacing the fence panel that blew out as my neighbour who is a council tenant cannot speak English , so we contacted them for her. I have used a smaller new panel that I got for my mum's fence and have used this temporarily until they replace it to keep my animals in. I have reiterated that it is a new one that I don't want them to chuck it away as they will be paying for that as well. I will be glad when it is back up to its 6ft level as I hate being overlookedGlad they got back to us.
Have a fantastic weekend all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Evening all,
Gosh, it's been a while!
My 5 for today:
1. Slept well last night for the first time in aaages.
2. My 2 groups of students at work were brilliant, especially the second lot as my Head of Department came in fpr a quick observation and they were absolute angels!
3. 2 left over xmas choccies came to work - less fattening than a big bar, but still deliciously chocolatey!
4. Scrummy tea using freezer fishcakes, noodles, a packet of sweet and sour that's been in the cupboard for about 6 months and a wilted spring onion!
5. Going to see some friends tonight in the pub.
6. It's Friday!
Have a lovely evening all xxClearing debt to save for a simple wedding.Starting 2016 With debt of £77000 -
Chickenopolis - I managed to very easily persuade my co-Rainbow leaders that it would be a great idea to have lamington's
1. Worked form home
2. Sadly not a NSD, as I accompanied a friend to the supermarket, but it wasn't anywhere near as bad as it could have been!
3. Found out something about the new house from the estate agent and solicitor, which was very happily received as it might mean that the house is even better for us long-term
4. Made a scrumptious soup/dahl in the pressure cooker
5. DD had an impromptu invite to friends this afternoon and when I turned up to pick her up, I was plied with wine and had a lovely time playing games with the children and chatting to their parents
6. Sorted out the Rainbows term and its looking good
7. Builder came over to check out the alleged problem that the surveyor has picked out with my current house and pronounced it nonexistent! (As I knew it would be, but good to have a professional opinion as well). And, thankfully, it didn't cost me a bean
Saving the best til last *swoon*
8. Popped over to see OH for a short while this afternoon, sooooooooooooooooo lovely to see him even though he's still under the weather, and hopefully he'll be okay to go out tomorrow night.0 -

Chickenopolis:- Thank you for the kind thoughts on the jobs, and I hope it goes well for your OH next week.
Got up early and chatted with neighbours on way out.
Over to DF arrived at 9am and worked hard dismantling a greenhouse right through to 5pm, but didn’t finish so back in a few days.
DF chatting and enjoying company of OH.
DF talked over some memories of mum which were nice to be reminded of, I love hearing about her as I feel the memories and reminders keep her alive so to speak
Glad to be back home, but absolutely shattered, so a cheats frozen pizza and chips is in the oven and I feel a bit guilty that it isn’t proper food but seriously aching from the work.0 -
Jexygirl and niksyg, good to see you again!
Mine for today:
1. Treating myself to some kitchen equipment thanks to an unexpected windfall I got yesterday. :j
2. Being given an unexpected pressie by a friend.
3. Visiting said friend plus her three cats.
4. Managing to stay calm despite being on the receiving end of rudeness from my friend's partner . He's one of those people who like to put others down to make themselves feel good, and he's done it for the last time to me. From now on I'll make every effort to see her without him being around.
5. Being able to renew my annual subscription to a favourite charity - money has been tight since I got back, and it's nice to be able to give something again.
6. Getting a text to say that all is well with Tinker Puss and that she's settled in well.
7. Another "sod it" day  - no exercise, Spanish or typing practice. I need to get back on track tomorrow.
8. Treating myself to some pencils and a sketch pad as I'm going to learn to draw, and then try acrylic painting later on in the year.
9. Reading some good online fiction.
10. Having a mini sortout of my finances and putting aside money for my tax and national insurance bills, as well as other expenses.Life is not a dress rehearsal.0 -

Evening all from Auntie Ladyhawk.
My SIL gave birth to a little boy this afternoon. Apparently both are doing well. The only details that I have been given is the name... But I am going down with my eldest DB and his wife to meet baby tomorrow.
1) See above. As much as this SIL annoys me and had driven a wedge between my middle DB and me, I am chuffed to bits to be an aunt again. I just hope that she becomes a more pleasant person to be around going forward.
2) Another busy day in the office (yay)
3) Got one of my suppliers to agree to something that I have wanted them to do for a year.
4) Lovely glass of fizz with my friend L after work. As I was driving I had to restrain myself... So she had to finish the bottle herself! She paid which was a double pleasure!!!
5) Got some feedback from my IfA and the morgages that he can get for me don't seem to scarey!
Night night
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
VJsmum that's one of my favourite sayings, which helped me overcome my huge inferiority complex. Which is no more, I'm happy to report
savingforoz what a sad, inferior little man. Agree it's best to stay away from that type if for no other reason that they're tedious and a waste of the good time you could be having with your friend
Purple kitten sounds like a good job almost done, made a little easier by chatting about your DM
Vicky well done on the Amazon voucher
Kittikins you're going to be this months favourite Rainbow leader when they see the Lamingtons
nik the tea sounds very inventive, and quite tasty. Pleased you had a good sleep last night
Chicken hope heat from the mattress doesn't start your eczema off, sounds awful. What a good neighbour you are to help out your non-English speaking one
Tealady thank you for the memory jog, it's almost a month since I spoke to my brother so will phone him over the weekend
bupster your bike ride to work sounds lovely. People miss so much in a car, especially beautiful skies, many times I've wanted to stop and just gaze at a sunrise/set
mhags I don't envy you having to find all those $'s for school , but well done on all the money saving you do to make up for it
millie hope you managed to get a good last day's skiing. Safe journey home
Many congratulations to Auntie Ladyhawk :T on the birth of your little nephew :A. Also pleased to hear the not-too-painful mortgage news
1. Up at 8.15am so must be feeling better
2. Painted a shelf which has been nagging at me for a couple of months. It's only 5 feet x 8inches but one of those things you are going to get round to...today I did
3. nsd/npd
4. The weather wasn't too bad, no wind or rain, so went out and collected everything that had been blown around, including the green bin which was on it's side - empty, fortunately.
5. Tidied my b/s table which has become rather cluttered over the past week or so, and found a pin (brooch-type) which I mislaid months ago. So pleased as it has great sentimental value
Sweet dreams, hugs to all who need/want
S:)0
