CCP - big hugs honey, I hope the complaint is dealt with/disappears very quickly, it must be very stressful for you, the contractor must have a screw loose, you certainly come across on here as a lovely, helpful, knowledgeable, professional person - do you need a character reference?
Aww, thank you.I'm sure it will all work out fine - I've been told by the head of the relevant department that they're prepared to lose the contractor over this issue as they're so certain his complaint will be rejected - but it's rather hurtful when I've gone out of my way to be helpful to him in the past. I'm not doing that again! (For this particular contractor, I mean - I will continue being helpful to all the others, of course. :A)

I went to glass recycling today and had a lot of fun smashing the recycling we had, very theraputic.
I might try glass bottle smashing therapy myself tomorrow - I need to go to the bottle bank anyway.Back after a very long break!0 -
1. Got a few bargain presents and wrapping paper at 70% off from sainsbugs.
2. Lying in bed right now, tapping away on my ipad and watching x files!
3. Spur of the moment decision to make some laundry gloop using no recipe, but using soap id made myself ages ago, a bit of soda crystals, borax and something else i cant recall. Its brill, its now a thick blancmange type gloop and ive sampled it on a few handwash garments and its really very good. I am surprised how good. The real test will be if it washed the machine load properly and to my satisfaction, but considering ive made about 5 litres of the stuff i dont mind just using it for handwashing if not for the machine wash...theres far too much of it to waste any of it.
4. Went to boots as i had some points to use up, DD picked out an item, just a set of eyeshadows that she wanted and i have put it up for the start of her christmas 2012 present! Also got some medication and deodorant and paid for it all with my points, so well happy!
5. Being cosy and warm and full stomached and loved.Every penny's a prisoner!

CCP - that sounds a bit tricky.
Here are my 5 for today (Weds).
1) Bit of a lie in.
2) Went to the local soft play area place and sons played for over 2 and a half hours!
3) Had lunch there and it was surprisingly good.
4) Popped to see my friend whilst in town and had a cup of tea.
5) Pancakes for tea!
6) Texts from OH and hoping for a chat on the phone.
7) Washed bigger son's hair (very thick and now half way down his back). It is VERY rare that he gets a word wrong but he said it was quite cold in the bathroom then said "I've got goose bum on my arms" :-D
8) Have the school bags and PE kits ready and am half way through cleaning their shoes.
9) Read another chapter of Harry Potter just now and two "tales of the old days" which are basically the same 10 or so stories of catastrophes when I was growing up that the boys like to listen to again and again! Most involve misdemeanours of our Jack Russells although my personal favourite is how I got the wrong gear in the tractor, rolled gently backwards into a tree then realised my brother had propped his bike up against the tree......0 -
1. Went out this evening - lovely company but left early, just needed to be at home
2. Fell asleep when I got back, not long woken up so will finish this and go to my lovely freshly made up bed
3. A vase of pretty yellow chrysanths on the sideboard, thanks to lovely friend
4. Taking a cup of hot chocolate with squirty cream to bed with me
Sweet dreams

Kittikins, Sparrer, frith - I'm sure I've left someone else out - teamwork, that's what it is all about. We are obviously onto something since our snow preparation is working so well. Next steps are a) to recruit help from further North to help our friends in colder climes be snow free and b) to find someone somewhere to pay us to continue the good work.:rotfl:
Actually, I was so encouraged by your posts that I decided to buy my DSs some Peter Storm thermals (tops and bottoms) that were reduced down to £4 per item - to keep the weather continuing in the right direction. People will be in sunhats by the end of the weekend, you'll see!
Ladyhawk The flat sounds amazing, fingers crossed for you.

My five pleasures today:
1. I've had a very productive day doing a weekly supermarket food shop and a shop all over town for a range of all non-food things for January, including my neice's birthday present. Just about everything I bought was on my list. The only things not planned for were two packets of whoopsied hot cross buns, the thermals, and a £1 parking charge but the latter was because it was late and raining heavily and I was being kind to myself. Apart from fuel for the car and the local paper, I should not need to visit any shops until the weekly food shop next Wednesday.
2. Getting home and putting everything away immediately, then making a hot drink and a snack, because I knew I was starving and thirsty after the shops, and getting straight back in the car to take DS1 to sports training. It meant that I didn't spend any money at the sports centre cafe.:D
3. Spending the remainder of my Christmas present Amazon vouchers on a couple of art books. This was a real treat because it was not at all practical or MSE, but it will be lovely to get them.
4. Enjoying having a potter in the bookshop but not buying anything other than my neice's booktoken,
5. Putting another £1 in the savings pot and 90p in silver coins after today's shop in the silver coins pot.
Sweet dreams

We had no electric power from 8am-3.30pm.....so we cleared out of the house! So many things we use everyday are electric aren't they! From the fan in the bathroom when we have showers (can't open windows) to TV/fridge freezers etc. So thought it was easier just to clear off for the day!
1.Went to scone cafe & had a Thursday Scone! Was quite restrained & would usually have had a lunch at that time of day.
2.Daughter 2 has a fairly unusual name....certainly over here! She was delighted to find a pen with her name on & spent some of her Christmas money on it. We had a mooch through the nice shops in Scone town but I didn't buy anything there.
3.Went to huge supermarket sized op-shop in our next town! Well! Got DD2's school coat for $6, they cost $75 new, there is nothing wrong with it so well pleased with that. Also a kilt for her winter uniform for $4, $60 new! Got some school books too, some of which are 5% of what the new price is.(ie 95% less than new),I got a book, a dress , 2 tops & 2 trousers for work. So quite pleased with my haul.
4.Went to our op-shop to see if there were any school bits & bobs there ,none but did get a lovely photo frame, the contents of which, meant nothing to me but caused a stir at the till! So I took the back off & gave the picture to a lady in the queue, I just wanted the frame!
5.I'm enjoying the cooler breeze, it's still sunny and nice but just not an intense heat.
Got an email from our estate agent back home to tell me my For Sale sign was still up ....all be at a jaunty angle! I had been concerned with high winds it might have blown away.........if only it was a SOLD sign
Have a great day x0 -
CCP ((hugs)) to you re the complaint. Not a nice feeling , but it sounds as if you have a supportive team. Its weird because we don't feel that much when we receive a compliment ( i.e "owning it") but a complaint is really painful . It will pass and try not to take it too personally x
Ladyhawk -good luck with the flat ! It sounds as if you are ready for a change . Fingers crossed x
sparrer - have you seen your GP ? It sounds like your ci is difficult to shift x:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Morning
CCP -Hugs to you
Ladyhawk - Flat sounds great, good luck with the bank manager
Pleasures for yesterday,
1. Both OH and I took lunch to work with us.
2. Stuck to what I needed to buy when popped to the shops at lunch time
3. Sorted out my gas and electric swap over with Npower. they had mucked it up and were just going to put me on a standard tariff rather than the one I had picked. Finally got it sorted and will still get the love2shop vouchers as well :money:
4. Made a variation on Sausage and mash for dinner. Used Sausage and Bacon plus made up like a shepherds pie. Everyone seemed to enjoy it.
5. Arranging to go out to lunch with some friends
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Wow just had wind and hail like it was the end of the world
For yesterday
1. Back to work but it was OK
2. House is clean
3. Had a delicious LO roast dinner from the freezer (reheated!)
4. Sat and knitted watching Mama Mia - never usually allow myself that much "sit down" time
5. Got some whoopsies from local Mr M - sausages, bread. Freezer seems to be full of whoopsied sausages
WOrking from home today as DD not well, and I don't HAVE to go in. One of the advantages of my job.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Afternoon all.
I'm not sure if I'll get time to post tonight (it's pub quiz night which is usually a bit tight for time after work) but I had to post one pleasure - I've just noticed that I've got my fourth star! :j (Is it a bit sad for a thirty-something woman to be quite so excited about getting a gold star?)
Thanks for all your kind comments about the complaint - it's been blissfully quiet today as the contractor Isn't Talking To Me so all I can do is sit back and wait for the complaint to arrive. What happens next is something I'll just have to deal with when it happens. :undecidedBack after a very long break!0
