awffy warm hugs for both purple kitten & frith. Hope you both get things sorted out ......remember we are all 'here' to listen !
1.I went into next town & had a bit of a mooch around shops, got a few nice decorations for next Christmas (I know, I know!.....have just taken everything down & put away from this year) however, I was quite restrained & only bought things I will use & were 70% off original price. Got very yummy aero like Santas & loads of candy canes at 25cents a pack .(16p)
2.Did supermarket shop & got quite a bit RTC.
3.Hairdressers.....looking decent again, last few weeks have been at desperation stage but too busy working.
4.Have watched a wonderful DVD series all afternoon/evening.....whilst doing other things, called Outback Farm. Set in a 1861 sheep farm in outback, modern people went back in time to live the life of sheepfarmers. Like Victorian Farm etc. I have really enjoyed it, very interesting & educational! 3 more episodes to go.
5.Nice & easy tea of salad & crusty bread. Too warm for much else!
Have a lovely Friday0 -
Big hugs to purple kitten
My 5 pleasures (not necessarily OS, but definitely inspired by you all!):
1) Used the last few Luncheon Vouchers up on my lunch today (expiry on them is tomorrow), so I don't have to do any washing up!
2) Taken some unwanted bits and pieces to a charity shop.
3) Joined the library. (only lived here for 2yrs!)
4) British Heart Foundation donation bag popped through the door today. Must attempt to put things in as I was waiting for it!
5) Paid in my "Christmas money" into my bank account. Now to sort out my spreadsheet...
Have a great day everyone! :wave:Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -
Thank you for making me so welcome everyone, and massive hugs to purple kitten & frith.
Here are mine for today:
1. Organised a stay at home NYE with my boyfriend for tomorrow, really looking forward to it.
2. Cleaned up, put new bedding on and had a good dust so its nice and clean tomorrow.
3. Paid off the money I owed my Next account from pre-Christmas shopping which always makes me feel accomplished for some reason.
4. Didn't use any heat on my hair, I washed it, put some leave-in conditioner in and let it dry naturally. Hoping this will help it to grow faster!
5. I don't know if this is technically OS but I went into Next after looking at some burgundy skinny jeans in their S/S '12 line - was going to treat myself but instead found two even nicer pairs in the sale! One was the colour I went in for and the other a nice deep blue shade, together they cost less than the pair I had seen online so I am chuffed with them, have a pair on as I type!
Hope everyone has had a nice day, esp considering the glummy weather! xxx0 -
Thank you for all of the support and hugs and for listening even thou it is grotty rather than a pleasure, Rainy Days:- if I won the lottery I would indeed be demanding they come over here by public transport to apologise, and get you all together to buy you all a slap up meal for being so supportive, somewhere in the Caribbean J.
I made phone calls and documented when, I was very annoyed to find out that the council were told before we were that we are going to court. And the councils attitude was pretty much who cares you have some equity so sell, I ended up in tears again. But I pulled myself back together and called Shelter who were a lot more positive and helpful, we have an appointment with them in the New year.
We talked it through and will give ourselves a small amount of time in the new year to try and find a job – any job. If nothing comes up then we will evaluate as we go really, we know at the moment even in this economy we have some equity in the house, however because of our current situation we would have to rent, and it would have to be animal friendly. I don’t know what else to write at the moment, we will do what we can to keep the house but will not cut our noses off to spite it if that makes sense.
A very long lay in.
A bacon sandwich for err brunch.
Being very grateful for Mr PK, not minding me being emotional.
Tesco as the cats were out of food and some yellow labelled food.
It’s like the animals can sense our upset and will not leave us alone where ever we go one is either cuddling us or at our feet.0 -
Evening all.
PK - I'm so sorry to hear about the problems you're having. I'm glad you've managed to get an appointment with Shelter - I sometimes hang around on the housing section of the MSE forums and I often read great things about how helpful they are. I hope they prove to be just as helpful in your case.
mhagster - that DVD series sounds really interesting - I wish they'd show it over here as I love that sort of thing.
1) A very long lie-in this morning. I didn't sleep at all well while I was away over Christmas so I think I'm still catching up.
2) I popped up to the shop to get mog some food and got there just after they'd gone a bit mad with the yellow stickies.I got a load of the type of bargains I often read about on here but never usually get myself - a big pot of brandy cream for 38p, a whole quiche Lorraine for 54p, a chunk of black pepper cheese for 51p (I've never tried black pepper cheese but thought I'd give it a go for 50p
), a huge piece of stilton for 75p, and a pack of mini sausage rolls for nothing as they'd forgotten to switch off the 3 for 2 offer despite reducing everything. :money:
3) Putting together my meal plan for the next two weeks using today's bargains and various bits from the freezer.
4) Sitting studying by the light of my free colour change candle. (Which isn't changing colour for some reason, but still smells nice.)
5) Pork and cider casserole for dinner.
Have a nice evening, all, despite the miserable weather.Back after a very long break!0 -

5 for today
1. OH let the hens out so that I could have a lie in
2. Fresh eggs from the hens for breakfast and OH had ham , egg and chips for lunch . The hens have done us proud today.
3. My "guest hens " were picked up by their owner tonight and she was very grateful as it enabled her to "relax" on holiday and I loved having them here . I shall miss themsavingforoz- how do you do it with the foster cats without becoming too attached to them ? Wouldn't mind having a "chick let",/"hen hotel" business- they don't nick the towels
4. Made a curry in the slow cooker for tea and some mushroom pilau rice , using up stuff we already had .I will aim to use the sc more often next year .
5. Feeling quite excited about the New Year - not sure why really , as I have no "real plans" or goals etc .
Have a good evening all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Evening,
Well done for being so brave PK!
1) Had a long chat with my mum this evening. We haven't had a good chat since I got back from my holiday 3 weeks ago.
2) Left the office just before 4pm... Woohoo!
3) Sent off the application for the new job. I think I'll get asked for an interview.
4) Tried to have a sensible conversation with my boss about the future - he was rather useless and didn't really get what I was meaning. I don't necessarily want a new job right now but I want some help is deciding what my next steps will be as if won't be within our immediate department (I have quite a niche role). So I asked him about other areas with the company that I should think about... But he shed no light on that. Then he said I needed to come to him with a plan of what I want to do... Which is the very thing that I wanted help to develop! The next thing that he said was that I still had some areas to develop before my next move (I don't dispute this). So then I asked him for some advice on how to balance the needs of our wider business with our departmental objectives to which he replied that was a question that just demonstrated that I was not mature enough for my next role! Argh!!! Anyway the pleasure from this saga is that when/ if I do resign he now definitely can't tell me that I should have discussed it with him before!!!!
5) Funny bbm chats with my friend L
Night night
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -

I do get attached, but I think about all the homeless mogs who need fostering from me and that helps. I feel good that what I do helps an unfortunate puss find a loving and permanent home.
miss_emmajane - welcome to our friendly forum!
Woke up feeling great and did my housework, laundry and a session on the cross trainer all before breakfast!
1. As above - starting the day really well!
2. Enjoying the pate I made last night for lunch, with my homemade bread, followed by homemade yoghurt and fruit.
3. Carrying on planning a great year for 2012.
4. Being organised and doing my January grocery shopping early, to save time next week.
5. Finding more and more of the things I buy in Aldi, at great prices - they seem to be expanding their range and I can now do most of my shopping there.
6. Stocking up on cheap pulses from the local Indian supermarket - first time I've shopped there.
7. Cutting myself some slack when I got brainfade during the edit of the remaining chapter of my novel - I'd already done a major revamp of the first section anyway. I'll finish it tomorrow when my brain has recharged.
8. Reading some great online fiction - a nice antidote to the housework, laundry and exercise!
9. Being pleased with my grocery spend total - especially as for some things I bought in larger quantities than normal.
10. Being organised again and paying my council tax bill - one less thing to think about.Life is not a dress rehearsal.0
