  • Chickenopolis - haha brilliant - that is too funny! :rotfl:

My little cats are fine now - they have been so clingy though, last night and today wanting cuddles and following me about everywhere. We let them sleep with us last night. Hey, they're like my kids!
Millie2008 - weirdly not a mouse in the house! Normally we get a few a week! By the way, have a fantastic holiday!
    Debtfree2012 - welcome :)
Skintmum2012 - jeepers, you've been busy! No wonder you had an afternoon nap! :)

    1. Had the longest lie in ever. It was afternoon by the time I got up, but was lovely lying in with the cats after their trauma!

    2. Went to shops half an hour away. No bargains to be had and most of the offers were pretty pants. Although Broomstick - I found a giant box of Hand Hotties in Costco for about £10. Think there were 40 of them so bought them!

    3. Came back and had a glass of the fancy wine we had bought specially for Christmas but still hadn't got round to opening (it won't last long now, let me tell you!)

    4. Made salmon fishcakes for tea from the leftover salmon my mum plied me with as I was leaving :D

    5. Curled up with my cats and fine wine while the wind is blowing a hoolie outside....ahhhh :)

Wow Ladyhawk that's a lot of words to tell them why you'd be suitable for the job - I'd be cheeky and just say because you need me ;)
Well done Chicken on resisting the sales, that's usually a difficult one for me but I don't have the enthusiasm, or money, this year
Frith congrats on the elec bill :T, I love it when that happens
Millie have a super time, come back in one piece ;)! I love France but it has to be warm for me
Purple kitten the trip out sounds lovely, just a shame about the rubbish. Why do people go to beautiful places and think it's okay to deface them? Grrrr
Kittikins do you get the feeling we're in a recession? There seems to be a distinct lack of crowds this sale season
Hi DebtFree :wave:reading your sig it sounds like you've got everything well under control. Well done on clearing the debts :)
skintmum pear bread sounds interesting, do you have the recipe please? Oh, bread pud, I love it. Definitely one of my favs but I will resist...I will resist...I will resist - well, perhaps I'll just make a little one in the morning ;)
ninnoodle so pleased the mogs are getting back to normal, hope you are too.

    1. Postie brought me a freebie copy of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, looking forward to reading it

    2. She also brought me a shopping voucher for doing a survey - the start of next years present stash

    3. Went to Homeb@se, bumped into DD, DSiL and DGD2 who were shopping too. I got a much needed new light shade for the bedroom and a huge plant pot, a few bits towards next Christmas, and double Nectar points as it came to a penny over the necessary £30 :D

    4. Good fellowship meeting, a brilliant guest speaker who had us all rapt :). One of those people you could listen to all night

    5. Eating the last of the Christmas figs as I type, will finish the dates tomorrow  then back to sensible eating

    sweet dreams

    Hiya,

I shouldn't have had so much coffee today. I'm not at all sleepy:eek:

    Five pleasures for Wednesday:

    1. I unpacked the vegbox plus extras all over the kitchen table meaning to sort out this week's meal plans and haven't got round to it so the veg is still there and makes me smile because it looks so good - like a magazine advert for healthy eating.:D

    2. Cooked the baking spuds and had them with sweetcorn and tuna and loads of salad stuff for supper, followed by the most scrumptious clementines ever for pudding - yummy, easy meal.

    3. Sorted out my spare supplies of greetings cards and made myself a HM 'card organiser book' to slot them into. Until I did this I didn't realise that I already have about half the birthday cards I will need to send next year and probably enough Christmas ones to cover the few that we will need in a year's time. Very MSE and decluttering all at the same time!:T

    4. Was mega, mega, mega pleased with DS2 about something he did... and I think he heard me!

    5. Am heading towards my third week of being wheat free again. I definitely feel much better for it and I'm starting to notice the weight loss.

    Sweet dreams

I have had the laziest day ever!
    1.Had a lie in.
2.Lovely chat with my friend from home who is out here, we have now made arrangements to meet up this weekend.....but still had a good blether.
3.Had a long & lazy bath! Kept topping up the water & read one of my pile of glossy magazines bought in library a few weeks ago.
4.Lazy afternoon on sofa!.....are you detecting a theme here? Lazy! Dozed on & off & then had a slight mad rush! Went out to post office, library & dropped bags in at Salvo's.Girls had cleared out some clothes & books for charity ....and made a hairdressers appointment for tomorrow (desperately needed)
5.Car keys found! I had a sudden memory of them falling out of my pocket under seat in OH's car on Friday! That's where they were.

Have a lovely day whether you are lazy or lively!

    Afternoon all.

I hope everyone's feeling OK today - it sounds like there's been some serious poorliness while I've been away. :(

    Pleasures for yesterday:

    1) A quick drink with my DM and DF before catching the ferry home.

    2) A lazy afternoon on the sofa with mog, coffee, and the film Ratatouille, courtesy of iplayer. :)

    3) HM mince pies before going out for the evening. (I haven't had much appetite over Christmas for various reasons (OK, mostly stress, actually :() and found out this morning that I've managed the rare trick of losing 5lbs over Christmas.)

    4) Went to a pub quiz / Christmas party with friends - we missed winning by one point, but it was a very pleasant evening anyway.

    5) Making a fuss of the very friendly pub cat - he then went and laid out in front of the fire and just purred at all the people stepping over him. :)

Have a pleasant rest-of-day, all, despite the foul weather.
Back after a very long break!

    Pleasues for yesterday;
    1. Popped to the shops to look at the sales but nothing caught my eye and what did still seemed expensive so will hang fire.
    2. Few RTC bits in Waitrose and paid for most of it using a money off voucher and some luncheon vouchers.:money:
    3. Finished reading a book on my kindle and downloaded some free books.
    4. HM chicken and pasta soup for dinner - easy, tasty and filling
    5. Mini cheesecakes for pudding that have been lurking in the fridge and had to be eaten, well thats my excuse anyway.

Hugs to all who need them

Here are my (first ever) OS pleasures for today (so far!)

    1. Had a nice sleep and woke up naturally at 8.40am
    2. I cleaned up yesterday so there was no mess or clutter which always puts me in a good mood
    3. Opened a student account with The Co-Op online so I can switch my overdraft to an interest free one saving me nearly £30 a month which can then be spent paying it off
    4. Made a sausage, bean and mushroom potato bake which is soooo yummy! Had some for lunch and will be having the rest for tea with my OH when he is back from work
    5. My new Nars laguna bronzer that I wanted for agggesss arrived in the post. I bought it from ASOS with the 30% off discount code and free delivery - looking forward to using it!

Hope everyone is having a nice day :)

    Evening all (esp Emma Jane)

Feeling a bit better today - definitely on the mend.

    1) Took 2 pairs of trousers back to Next because I was kidding myself that they fitted
    2) The tablet I made last night was soft set but yummy
    3) Surfed the tinternet for new houses this afternoon. I have decided to expand my horizons to consider some flats. I spotted some gorgeous ones that are in the perfect location and in my price range. So I have emailed the agents.
    4) Nice chat with my colleague S who I gave a lift to this morning.
    5) Office grump was in a good mood and even gave one of his team a complement... Unheard of!

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

Having a sad day today. :( Am trying to remind myself I haven't felt this bad for a good while and it is happening less frequently.

Lets get the grotty bits out of the way!

Realised during my call to my sons yesterday (they have to spend the week with their father), that his behaviour is getting more erratic again. It was this week in 2004 that everything fell apart and I went to the women's refuge in early January 2005. Must be something about Christmas that makes him more unpleasant than normal!

Anyway, he is being very manipulative and has got both sons to text and phone me that smaller son wants to be in his dad's darts team at the pub (son is 8!) I thought they meant tomorrow so said yes but he meant every Friday, 8-10pm. Well, the ex only has them every other weekend, Sat-Sun, so that is completely out. I told them so (gently) so the ex has had a go and they've phoned me to complain then I got a text from smaller son saying he is "never seeing me again" and I am a !!!!!!. :(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

I'm sure it'll blow over but who on earth winds an 8 year old up so much that they write things like that?

Spent all night worrying about it, only slept from about 5am - 7am. Got so stressed I could barely speak which must have been delightful for MrB. :( So now I am worried he is going to get fed up with my getting overwrought and pacing the floor in the middle of the night. (I wasn't actually pacing the floor, just spent 2 hours putting CD's onto my new ipod!)

Also have gouged piece out of my finger on the chimney when getting some logs for the stove. It is a terrible mess, had to get my sister to do some serious first aid. :(

    FIVE FOR TODAY!

    1) MrB doing his best and sending me some texts today.

    2) 2 of my friends from Sixth Form college days coming over.

    3) Putting entire CD collection on my ipod.

    4) Should get some cash with Music Magpie.

    5) Sister coming over with cake to talk about the stupid ex.

    6) Nice and warm in the living room so will settle and watch the tv all evening, I think.
