  • Good evening all !

Posting early as off to my brothers house to see the New Year in ( yeah right 10pm max !)

millie - aka Chemmy Alcott glad to hear that you are having a fab time ! Look after that toe please - don't want to hear that you have schnapped (get it?) it again ;) Have a magical time tonight !!

kittikins - I meant to ask , have you got a provisonal "move in" date yet ?

    5 for today

    1. OH let the hens out again for me whilst I was still asleep and then brought me up a cup of tea. It will be a shock next week when I am stuck behind my desk at 7.30am !!

    2. We went to Tunbridge Wells to have a mooch around as OH wanted a Hacke** top , as I gave him some cash for Christmas . They do not stock them anymore and tbh the shopping experience was disappointing to say the least. Still nsd for me :)!

    3. OH brought me a chicken calendar from our shopping trip .He normally resorts to a "golden arches" fast food outlet on the way home, but did not today.

    3. Made some quor* chilli to take to my brothers tonight , as my sister is a veggie and I do not like minced beef . It tastes quite nice .

    4. Marmite hen was in a very good mood today - she normally growls and stomps off when anyone goes near her . I will keep an eye on her as I have a hunch that she is not quite right at the moment - she is 6 years old though. Another older hen has started laying her lovely blue eggs again today !

    5. Got paid and bank statements received today are looking healthy , even after Christmas!:)

Have a lovely evening and I wish you all a very happy and healthy New Year !!

Hi chickenopolis, we don't have a date as yet but I'm going to start pushing for it to happen very soon, once I've done more decluttering!!

Well........another quiet day in Kittikinsland, OH is still dying on the sofabed, but at least he's had a bacon roll (yuk, I must love him to cook bacon!) so he's not wasting away, and he was awake enough for me to get in for a cuddle earlier :) . Tonight is going to be quiet....thank goodness he doesn't snore! but I'll be up in my own bed soonish I guess as I'm not feeling particularly great.

    1. last no spend day of the year - am aiming for 100 next year, gulp.

    2. no petrol day

    3. Lovely chat with DD on the phone, she's not back til Monday so I will need to get my act together to do more tidying tomorrow!

    4. Nice lazy day today, I felt a little delicate after last night's dinner party, so I snoozed upstairs a lot whilst OH snoozed on the sofa bad, what a romantic couple we are!

    5. Scrumptious hugs with OH earlier :)

    6. Used my lovely new pressure cooker for the first time to make up a recipe for spicy parsnip and carrot soup.......oh heck, it's DIVINE and took me about 10 minutes on the lowest heat possible, yippee! So pleased I ask my parents to buy me one for Christmas.

    7. Watching the Cinderella ballet on BBC4 and recording it for DD, lwe ove ballet so much.

Happy New Year to everyone x

PK hope your evening out takes your mind off your worries for a short time at least :)
Broomstick thank you for the kind remarks, I couldn't bend down to pick anything up a year ago, at 5 feet nothing drastic measures had to be taken! 1/2lb week average is good, allows me to have a meal out and extra treat occasionally. Weight loss old style is terrific, loads of support without the pressure. Suits me (and my breathing benefits too)
Millie the whole holiday sounds amazing, I'm green :D but I'd still want sun and heat
Libretia I'm sure you're right, it's going to be a wonderful 2012! My cup is always half full, got to be positive :)
Kittikins well done on mastering the pressure cooker so quickly, and producing a yummy first recipe. Sounds delish

    1. Slept in til 10am. Chest infection taking hold now so having to sleep sitting up

    2. nsd/npd

    3. Lots of texts back and forth between friends and myself with good wishes for the New Year

    4. Back to back Coast this afternoon

    5. Cancelled my evening out but a good book, a big mug of creamy hot chocolate  and a comfy bed to look forward to

Night night, sweet dreams, wishing you all a good evening and hope we all wake up to bright New Year

My five pleasures for the last day of 2011:

    1. NSD/NPD (start as I mean to go on! ;) )

    2. Decorations put away. House tidy except for my tiny bedroom so I'm going to go up and put new sheets on the bed and tidy up there as well... which will definitely be a pleasure when it's done. Am aiming to be in bed with a hottie and a book before midnight.

    3. The wormery has been named! It is now called 'Clarence House' :D because the tiers remind me of a large late Georgian town house.

    4. HM leek and potato soup and dippy eggs for supper.

    5. Listening to DSs laughing and singing upstairs - hope our neighbours don't mind. It's a happy sound.

Have lovely evenings everyone. Raising my mug of hot chocolate to you all - here's to a positive and peaceful 2012. :D

    5. Cuddle and play with DGS

    Happy New Year everybody x

Happy New Year to you all.....Sunday afternoon here and very hot, apparently the hottest New Year's Day in over a century!.....so I'm sure I will be entitled to moan & groan about heat & be a bit crabbit!

    Hogmanay:
    1.Saturday scone.

2.Took train into city to meet my friend from home, it was lovely to see her & we sat outside at a bar/restaurant & caught up. Lovely!

3.She left to catch up with her family & OH & I had a most lovely dinner, then drinks in the city, kids joined us & we sat at main square in Melbourne, watching a 4 hour free concert. It was great.....danced the night away! Luckily we checked the receipt for our meal......$40 too much, we reckon the previous guests at our table left without paying.....however, we did not pay for their drinks & got it sorted!

    4.Fabulous firework display.

5.Finally got home safely after what can only be described as a rather scary situation. Half a million people were expected to be in the city, a lot of them ,like us were decent families, out to enjoy the evening, not drinking, not being drunk, not being aggressive etc. Free 24 hour public transport after 6pm was provided. So what happens when thousands & thousands of people are trying to get from one side of road to the other to get to the train station? The most horrendous scene ensued. People were being pushed & shoved & it was horrible to be in such a big crowd & have no control. As a family we hung onto each other & didn't let go. Took 1 hour to get onto the train, it would be a 2 minute walk from where we were normally. Won't be doing it next year! Anyway.....the pleasure? Seeing my son cuddle his youngest sister who was terrified, hearing my bolshie 15 year old telling people to stop pushing her!, finally getting on the train and chatting with other like minded passengers, finally being able to laugh at the awfulness of the situation. Getting back to our station & into my car which was blessedly cool! Laughing at my 6 foot tall son having to bend his head to side in the back seat of my tiny car.....the 5 of us have never been in it together! Coming home!

I wish you all a Happy, Healthy & Money Saving 2012. I have been inspired by everyones daily pleasures, it has been a pleasure being part of this thread & certainly helped me when I was struggling with being here ,away from everything I've ever known. Looking for pleasures in my daily life helped so much.
Sending hot ,oh ever so hot hugs to all of you.

sparrer: take care & get that CI sorted out!!

Morning everyone and happy new year!
Mhags - what a horrid experience... That's exactly why I don't do NYE in town!

    1) Lie in and read my book
    2) Made drop scones for brekkie... Yum!
    3) Roads were clear on my drive down to see my friend.
    4) Laughing hysterically at the present I had bought her. It was a cocktail book which was a lot saucier than I expected! Luckily she thought it was very funny.
    5) Nice civilised evening to bring in the NY.

Hope 2012 brings love, laughter, good health and success to you all in all your endeavours.

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

Me again , with today's pleasures:

1.Hardly any traffic on the road so a quicker than usual journey to beach...usually takes between 1-1.5 hours, back home it would be 15 minutes. So about 45 minutes today.

2.New to us beach & it was the loveliest, cool breeze there.

3.Wrote a long letter to a friend......another tick of my list of things needing doing!

4.Finally had our dinner.....damn that oven! Had slow cooked steak pie, roast parsnips & potatoes & veggies.....all RTC! I also made raspberry ice-cream & strawberry ice cream but they haven't set too well as I think it was just too hot (34o) ...taste lovely in a runny ice cream kind of way, so hope they freeze overnight.

5.Nice chats with family & friends to wish them Happy New Year.

    Aftrenoon all!

Mad day today, fab skiing, but I managed to fall quite spectacularly and bash my knee and my ribs :duh: so I am rather bruised! Toe is holding out though, thanks chicken :D

We were meant to be heading over to courchevel 1650, but the one time I let the boys lead, they took a wrong turn. Not wanting to lunch in 1850 (£££)' we dropped down to 1550 and had galettes. Nom!

Just got back and have had a hot tub and shower, just time for a snooze before dinner. I could get quite used to this!

Fab impromptu night last night; chalet host bought us some champagne, so we took it down to the bottom of the ski slopes and joined in with the crazy partying and watched the fireworks. Best new year ever!

So, errr, nothing OS to report, I will make up for it next week, promise.,

Hope everyone is well hugs to anyone in need xx

Evening all or, as my DM said when I spoke to her on the phone earlier - glug! smiley-sad058.gif

    1) A day spent doing something I very rarely do - nothing. :D

    2) NSD.

    3) LO pizza for breakfast - I should have made more as it was delicious, despite the mess it made of the oven (I overdid the cheese just a fraction :o).

    4) Chatting to my DM on the phone. She's recently joined the MSE forums and I was enthusing about the OS one in the hope of persuading her to come and join us - hello if you're there! :hello:

    5) Watching Earthflight on iplayer with a glass of RTC bucks fizz - orange juice is good for colds, right? ;)

    6) Beef and spiced stout stew for dinner, using a bottle of spiced stout I won in a pub quiz and which I've just noticed has passed its BB date, which I suppose is why they gave it away - doubly OS! :money:

    Have a lovely evening, all.
Back after a very long break!
