5) Got my latest OU essay back (the one that I threw together in a dreadful hurry and thought about emailing an apology to my tutor about) - he loved it and gave it a very high mark.
CCP - well done you- have a bucks fizz - ok...you have one already:)!! When I thought my essays were rubbish they came back with a high mark. But when I thought they were ok they came back with a lower mark - weird that ??
Frith - nice "contented " post :)Although when you said "Mr. B is a good lad" I couldn't help but think of Wallace and Grommit , I even had the voice of Peter Sallis in my head (sorry, but I am naturally infantile).
5 for today
1. OH and I went to look at memory foam mattresses as we both have back problems . I felt like Goldilocks ( hair is blonde) ooh too soft... just right etc . They are expensive but we have had ours for 11 years and it was OH's before he met me . I mentioned in conversation with an employee of the store that his previous girlfriend was well .. " a much larger lady" so the mattress had probably had it long before I came along . The employee had tears streaming down his face and said I had made his day . I wasn't trying to be funny though . Anyway I think we will look online to compare prices .
2. Checked my online savings account £431.61 interest paid today ( half a mattress :rotfl:)
3.Washing dried on the line
4. Cut off the mould of half an expensive loaf of bread that OH had "abandoned " and made a bread and butter pudding with double cream . Very nice - he does not know about the mould .
5.Took down the Christmas Treeand re arranged the lounge . It looks much bigger and tidier but reminds me that I am back at work tomorrow...the hens are fascinated by the Christmas tree that is now in the garden .
Have a good evening all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
1. NSD no. 2, hoorah!
2. Ordered a groupon voucher for a car service later this year much cheaper than I would normally pay to my usual garage - I'm not counting it as a spend as I have the money in a separate account for car payments
3. Lovely day with OH before I took him home - he's much better now
4. Discovered a new to me website for selling books and am trying to get up to the £10 minimum deal.
5. Made scrumptious scones this afternoon when I really wanted to have something very 'treaty' and oh my goodness, I should never buy scones again as they're yummalumptious!0 -
Chickenopolis:- I loved number 1 of your post, it got OH and myself talking about his ex who shall we say sounds similar.
We got a matching ceiling light for our current one we were waiting for it to become half price in the sale and it did.
Just browsing around whilst we were out locally, I was astonished by the quantity of people desperately shopping, we were pondering around a little estate the usual pets at home / homebase, but they were queuing onto the road trying to find spaces in sainsburys etc. I couldn’t help wondering what the rush was.
We had a roast chicken yesterday, it’s a tradition from my husband’s family I try to remember, as my family never worried about new years, used all of the leftovers in what turned into a stew. And a portion of chicken is frozen so that’s 6 meals from a small rtc chicken, not bad.
Several loads of washing being done and trying to dry as I type, still 3 loads left to do thou.
We have rtc scones out of the freezer to go with the pot of clotted cream picked up a day ago for 10p, delicious dessert.0 -
Evening all,
CCP - I used to be the same with exams... The ones that I thought I had aced. I ended up getting bad marks for and the ones that were a bit iffy were usually had good results.
1) Lie in this morning. I am reading Angela Canning's account of her horrific trial - its heart wrenching.
2) Went to Brent Cross shopping centre for a spot of late sale shopping. I bought some lovely lined wool trousers for work. They are dry clean only but am sure it'll be fine to wash on the wool cycle. I tried on loads of other stuff on but was restrained and didn't buy anything else.
3) Loads of cuddles with my gorgeous nephew. He has been very grumpy recently because he has been teething but he was a happy boy today.
4) Yummy apricot and almond tart for tea courtesy of Mr S. I had two large slices.
5) HM burgers on HM rolls for supper with salad.
Nighy night night.
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -

Hiya.
My five for Monday (still don't quite believe it's Monday and I nearly wrote Friday.)
1. Going to bed with a hottie last night and waking up early, nice and warm but in a very quiet and chilly house. So, on a whim, I went downstairs, made myself a new hottie and a cup of coffee and took myself back to bed to get on with work all snuggled up and warm. This is definitely going to happen again like this! It was very productive.
2. NSD, NPD, another £1 for the sealed pot and did a Reverbe and found a 20p on the bookshelves which has gone into the silver coins pot too.
3. Weighing myself and discovering I've lost 4lb since early December which will mostly be due to me going off wheat again but it's all weight I don't need any more. Have decided to go for the 'sugar/wheat-free and slightly smaller portions' approach since we do eat pretty healthily and I don't drink alcohol. I'm only going to bother weighing myself every month or so because I want to keep things slow and steady and even just one or two pounds a month lost would be just fine.
4. Made a pot of the loveliest bottom-of-fridge veg soup for lunch. In it there was onion, celeriac, a few old carrots, a bit of red cabbage, a ton of chinese cabbage, potatoes, one large tomato that was very squashy and the stock from last night's steamed veggies. It got whizzed with the stick and was just perfect. Oh and I chopped the end of the stale bread into cubes and made croutons for the DSs portions too.
5. I used more or less all the rest of the fresh food up for supper and washed out the plastic boxes that I use for 'drawers' in the fridge and the salad drawers at the bottom so everything is ready for the box tomorrow and the shop the next day.
Sleep well,
B x0 -
1. Making my second ever home made loaf of bread!

3. Using up tons of left over salad and veg for tea
4. Dried the bed sheets
5. Took back some items that needed returning so that is some money back in the account.
