Evening all,
Miss Shoes - why wait until the new year? You can join us now (and welcome by the way)
I am still under the weather. I don't feel too bad, just lack energy... And am cultivating a wheezy annoying cough.
1) Up relatively early and made some yummy mince pies and some tablet for prezzies.
2) Dropped some of the pies off for ny nice neighbour (the other one wouldn't even get a lump of coal)
3) Managed to find some reduced crackers... Was getting a tad desperate!
4) Made a small dent in the bomb site that is my flat.
5) Clean bedding
Nighty night all. I hope father christmas visits you all.
Merry christmas

Welcome MissShoes, looking forward to your posts
Get well now Kittikins
1. Much needed lie-in til 9am, thanks to the furpets being reluctant to leave their cosy beds
2. Collected underpaid mail from post office, cost me £1.12p but it's the posters b/day soon so will get my own back (and I know he {DS} often reads my posts so he's forewarned)
3.The season of goodwill to all men....? Overheard in the queue at the Post Office - 'Hah! I got the last pack of sausages in the supermarket so if anyone else wants to stuff their turkey they've had it'. Annoyed me at first then had to smile, all MSE'rs will have had theirs in the freezer for ages
4. Easing up on the calorie-watching and treating myself to a lunch of toast with good coarse pate and strong blue cheese. Trouble is it was a bit rich so couldn't eat my sticky apple crumble with cream afterwards
5. It's warm enough not to have the heating on this evening, so pleased the forecast cold winter hasn't happened and even if it does now it'll only be half a winter with heating to pay for, iyswim
Have a really super Christmas Day everyone, drive safely in you need to drive, take care n God bless

Good evening all!
missshoes - welcome x
kittikins- hope your cold shifts soon
5 for today
1. I was very unwell last night and OH was really brilliant - I kept him awake for most of the night and he crept out this morning to let the animals out so as not to disturb me .
2. Felt fine today , if a little sleepy .Had a siesta this afternoon and later this evening Ladyhawk;)
3.Hens who normally spend most of their time in the kitchen scavenging ,came face to face with a bucket containing the "guest hens" layers pellets . The bucket used to contain dry cat food and had photos of cats around it - they went mad , bokking and clucking and would not come near the house as they thought the cats were real :rotfl:
4. Washing dried on the line, like to get it all done before Christmas
5. My Mum has been round with the dog to have some supper with us and she had a couple of port and lemons . She called the garlic mushrooms "garlic hens" so I felt it wise to escort her back home safely ( she only lives next door)
Have a fantastic Christmas everyone !!:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Awake all night last night, awful, today we travelled to visit Dad for all afternoon and he seemed happy, the lovely Mr PK kept me sane in an insane world...
Put all new pet bedding out and as we make it all (very OS) it is all red and festive, the animal run is all nice and clean also.
Trying the cats on Lidl cat food temporarily and they seem to love it.
Very happy that after resisting the urge to buy and alcohol, well more over it was that or petrol, we discovered alcohol gifted from last year, as you can tell we are not big drinkers, but we do drink the gifts - eventually, there is also melon and lemon liquor which is not going to last long.
Cooking / cooked:- Pastry Stars, Mince Pies (With a lot of huffing from Mr PK),Yule Log, Red Cabbage Christmas recipe (port in it, and a glass of port for both Mr PK and myself)
To make: Brandy Butter for Christmas Day0 -
Merry Christmas, everyone!
5 or so for Christmas Eve.
1) Bit of a lie in.
2) Everything pretty much in order.
3) Went to my sister's for lunch with sons, my mum, dad and brother. :-)
4) Lovely texts from MrB throughout the day plus a chat on Skype. :-)
5) My friend popped round with her children - very unexpected as she lives miles away.
6) My school friend came for tea and helped calm sons down.
7) Smaller son made another batch of mince pies. He's really pleased he can make pastry.
8) Sons had their traditional new Christmas Eve pajamas.
9) Friend just gone so all quiet now. Just me and the cat waiting for "Santa" to eat her mince pie and sloe gin.
Might not get online tomorrow so I hope everyone has a fantastic day. We're going to mum and dad's for lunch then the boys are off to their father's in the mid-afternoon. I am then off to MrB's (don't know how long for - 2 days?) where I am going to meet his entire family... Looking forward to it but haven't met any of them yet!0 -
Five pleasures for Christmas Eve...
1. Drove into town to pay loads of cheques into the bank - have been trying to make this happen for ages so it's a relief to have done it at long last.:) There was almost no traffic as well so driving was a pleasure.
2. Very good stirfry for supper into which I managed to hide half of the veggiebox chard.
3. Having a long afternoon nap.
4. Watching the Outnumbered Xmas Special on iplayer.
5. Being generally organised enough that today, and the plan for tomorrow, have been very laid back and stress-free.
Happy Christmas everyone.
Sleep well

Merry Christmas to you all, hope Santa has been good, it's now evening here & for past 2 hours we have been having a massive storm! Thunder & lightening , HUGE hailstones, more rain than I have ever seen, we were on the motorway & visibilty was almost minimal, cars were pulling in all over the place!
My car is covered in dents, hailstones the size of golf balls were thumping down on it & we have just watched the local new, flash flooding, tennis ball sized hailstones crashing through windows & roofs.....prior to this we were at the beach, having a hot but enjoyable time.
So that out the way lets go for pleasures!
1.It's Christmas! Early start to our day. Everyone pleased with their gifts. Apart from the kids main gift each, everything was bought in sales or RTC.
2.Dinner prepared & now cooking! Roast beef in slow cooker, roast ham in oven with roast potatoes & roast parsnips. Pavlova made yesterday.
3.Went to beach...just because we could! The roads (which last year were empty) were so busy, it was like rush hour, not sure where everyone was going but going somewhere! Beach was fairly busy but not many Ozzies.....mostly foreign accents to be had! Had a nice picnic & kids had so much fun in the sea.
4.I got 3 new baking books, 1 Primrose Bakery & 2 Hummingbird Bakery , love them already & can't wait to try them out!
5.I have never seen weather this extreme so I am glad we are safe & sound in our house!
Have a fabulous day whatever you get up to!0 -
Mhags - I have both the primose and hummingbird books...they are divine... But oh so calorific! You can feel the weight piling on just looking at the photos!Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. Morning, all, and a very merry Christmas! :xmassmile
I've just popped on to the pootah while everyone's watching CDWM, which gives me the chance to slip off for 5 minutes without being rude.
mhagster - yikes at that hail! I'm glad none of you got hurt by it - I'd imagine a golf ball-sized hailstone would be pretty painful if it hit you.
MissShoes - welcome to the thread - come on in!
Frith - LOL at your DS' dalek mince pies - very festive!
Chickenopolis - thanks very much for your offer to look after mog in an emergency - that's so kind of you. I didn't realise you were that close to Portsmouth - we'll have to arrange an OS pleasures meet-up when SavingforOz moves down here next year.
A few pleasures for yestersay and today:
1) The very kind taxi driver who broke the speed limit just a little to ensure I caught my ferry - the taxi I'd booked didn't turn up, so it all ended up being very tight for time.
2) The cheese scones are apparently very tasty, despite looking more like coasters than scones.
3) A couple of drinks with my DSis and her partner, and my DSis' best friend and her partner, and their dog, who fell asleep leaning on my arm. She got quite heavy after a while, but it was so cute I couldn't bring myself to move her.
4) My parents' cat slept most of the way through the night rather than waking everyone up with her yowling every couple of hours like she sometimes does (she's gone deaf and doesn't seem to realise how much noise she's making).
5) Bucks fizz with breakfast this morning - only at Christmas!
Have a fantastic Christmas Day, all, and I hope everyone who's been feeling poorly is starting to feel better.Back after a very long break!0
