Happy Christmas Eve-Eve everyone
1. Went to work for half a day
2. Bought some fab Christmas bunting for £1, I would never have got round to making any......
3. YS bread rolls for 10p
4. DD went to London for a fantastic day with one of my friends and has come back tired but very happy
5. I babysat friend's baby and we both had a wee snooze.....much needed as my cold has come back with a vengeance, grrr.
6. Quick chat with OH
7. Lovely people at the local train station were handing out cups of mulled wine when I went to pick DD up, slurp!
8. Received a refund cheque for buying a pizza, you had to send in part of the box and your receipt, and it was truly the best pizza I've ever had
9. I've just bought DD lots of cheapie clothes on the George website that I'll pick up - jeans for £1, quelle bargain!
10. Woke up very tired and coldy but thankfully not hungover. My friend cooked us all a scrumptious dinner last night and we were all quite restrained on the drinks (polishing my halo now!!)0 -
ooooh! Just on to say it's Christmas Eve already!!0

Good evening all !
CCP - you could always get the coat hanger as a "tree present" for your DM.
purplekitten- well done on winning the online competition !
5 for today
1. Horrible grey rainy day . Glad I was able to get the bedding washed and dried in the December sun yesterday
2. Made the Isle of Skye shortbread biscuits (ninnoodle) from a thread on this forum . I used my star shaped cutter and they are lovely . Also made the cheese biscuits from the superscrimpers programme . They were nice too !
3. Took a shortbread star and a freshly baked cheese biscuit over to my Mum ( who lives next door) and was berated for not making her a cup of tea to go with them . I will be sending her very expensive perfume back and might give her a second hand coat hanger for that !!:);)
4.My "guest hens" are not supposed to be laying any eggs at the moment, according to their owner. One went in to the coop this afternoon and I found a beautiful white egg in the nesting box. It looked like one of those Cadbur** chocolate mini eggs, but obviously much larger. I have never had a white one before .I am writing a "diary" of their daily events for their owner for a bit of fun - I am the BW ( blonde woman) in it . They really seem to have settled in quite well which is a relief , as mine can be rather vicious .
5. Made a carbonara for tea , bumped mine up with veg to compensate for the junk that I am eating and eating and eating..:rotfl:
Have a lovely evening all !!:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Evening all.
I'm determined to find five things for today, it being Christmas an' all, but I've honestly had a really bad day - I haven't been sleeping properly, and the winter blues have kicked in with a vengeance, leaving me feeling tired and tearful all day: an annoying but solvable problem (see #1) left me sobbing at the computer for 20 minutes.(I'm really not a tearful person, usually, except between December and February.
)
1) The friend who had agreed to look after mog while I'm away over Christmas forgot what we'd agreed and has arranged to go away the day before I get back, which would mean mog being on his own for the best part of a day and a half.Pleasure - I've managed to find someone who can look after mog until I get back - she's a professional pet-sitter so I'll have to pay (and probably pay quite a lot given the time of year) but it's better than coming home to a half-starved, lonely mog.
2) It was only a half day at work today, so I had plenty of time to sort things out.
3) I attempted to make some cheese scones for a family party tomorrow, at my DSis' special request: unfortunately they didn't rise properly and welded themselves to the baking parchment once cooked - cue more tears.Pleasure - I managed to get the darn things off eventually and the one I tried tastes fine, although not quite like a cheese scone - they're more like cheesy pastry biscuits. :undecided
4) I spotted a review online today of a Hairy Bikers' Christmas special, which I'm looking forward to watching while wrapping the last few presents this evening - if anything can make me laugh today, those two will!
5) The prospect of a glass of mulled wine later. I don't dare have more than one as I've now got to drive first thing tomorrow morning (I need to get another key cut and drop it off to the pet-sitter), but one will be nice and festive and might help me sleep.
I hope everyone else is feeling more cheerful and festive. I'll try to log on to the forum from my parents' house but, in case I don't manage it, have a lovely Christmas, all. :xmassign:Back after a very long break!0 -
Evening,
Just a quick visit... Feeling sorry for myself after developing a cold. Just feel exhausted and achy.
1) Left work at lunch time (a little cheeky as it was supposed to be a full working day)
2) Went out for lunch with Mr Dubai and his kids. It was lovely to catch up with him.
3) Bumped into a colleague at Mr S when I popped into buy a lottery ticket for my mum. We had a nice chat.
4) Realised that I had locked myself out of the flat... Luckily I had my car keys with me and I was able to pop round to pick them up from a friend in the next village. Even luckier... She was in!
5) Afternoon nap (jealous Chicken?) Despite sleeping for 12 hours last night!
Night all
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Get well soon Ladyhawk, I'm with you on the cold and feeling grotty, if I didn't have lots to do, I'd be in bed already!
CCP - enjoy the Hairy Bikers, they're fab, and an ex boyfriend of mine went to school with the shorter dark haired one, so whenever I watch them I have a little think about the ex and wonder what he's up to now.....not in a I want to be with him way, not now anyway!!
Chickenopolis - DD and I made the superscrimpers cheesy biscuits yesterday and.......ate the lot for our breakfast!!0 -
Oof busy times, busy times.
For yesterday
1. Fared quite well despite my [STRIKE]hango[/STRIKE] slight headache
2. Wrapped lucky dip pressies with DD while watching Princess diaries
3. GOing to sainsbobs with OH - blimey he don't half dither doing the shopping. No wonder it takes him so long when he goes alone - I was having to march ahead and tell him to catch me up.
4. Paid for over half of it on nectar points - we don't really use them for anything else (preferring Tesco points) so it keeps the cash flowing
5. marzipanned the cake with the £2 reduced cake decorating kit.
And toda
1. Lots done - butchers at 7.00, 2 supermarkets for bits and bobs, farm shop etc
2. Helping DS to bake the mince pies and the quiche - and he enjoyed it
3. Friends visited for the afternoon
4. DD made yule log and cup cakes
5. Nice freezer left over autumn veggie casserole for tea.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

Please excuse typos, 1) I am using an iPad and don't get on with it 2) I am disabled 3) I'll bite you if you get snarky about it.0 -
1. Went for a long [but wet] walk with kids and dog

3. Made biscuits with DD 2, also to give as a gift
4. Had a little festive drinkie during the day while making sausage and mash!!
5. Wrapped pressies with kids.''A moment's thinking is an hour in words.'' -Thomas Hood0 -
Wow skintbint, I feel hungry just reading that!
Mine for today, may be brief, because I am zzzzzz and need to be awake early for the neds
1. Early morning last min supermarket shop was painless. Managed not to strangle the mothership when she forgot the list... Only just!
2. Finally got around to making chilli jam, nigellas, with my home grown chilies. I have an asbestos mouth, so left the seeds in. Just tasted it and it is amazing!!
3. Much as it hurt me, I managed to use some of my bargain cath kidston stickers on the jam jars. I spent my childhood hoarding stickers and hated to use them. Strange child!
4. visit to friends and dropped their Xmas pressies off, mostly handmade by me and came home with a bag of presses :O cuddles with their JRT and kisses from their foal, who is not so foal like any more. Hatching a plan to kidnap her as my future show horse (middleweight hunter). She is just stunning!
5. Lots of snow in les alpes and a week tonight, we will be there and chilling after our first cheeky afternoon ski. Soooo excited.
Oh but (-1) I managed to kick the bed last night and break my toe, so skiing could be fun. Thankfully I have a high pain threshold (skied with a fractured foot once, unknowingly) Toe is fat and bruised. Pah.
Bed soon, early yard tomorrow, must dig out oldie's reindeer ears for her obligatory Christmas photo. Tis our 24th Christmas together
Hugs to anyone in need, especially those who might be reading who find this time of year difficult, for whatever reason xxx0
