Good evening all !
mhagster- wow what a nice gesture from your boss ! Mine did not even wish any of us a happy Christmas
vjsmum -nothing wrong with letting your hair down
6 for today
1 Being off !
2. Letting the hens out and our "guest hens" were supposed to have a day in the coop to settle them in . One would not stop shouting so I let them out with mine and they were suprisingly good together .
3. OH went out to get the grocery shopping for Christmas . I cannot abide it and he loves going around all of the supermarkets and came back with stuff that he likes .. serves me right really
4. After months of getting brown eggs , I got one blue egg today from one of my oldies, who has started laying again after moulting. My fridge looks "normal" again .
5. A large cheeky glass of white wine
6. Watching "Rising Damp" re runs circa 1975. I grew up with this stuff and all these years on it still makes me laugh - Leonard Rossitter was fab. Not keen on the archaic racist comments though -I know that my folks would have squirmed at this even in the '70's.
Have a good evening all !
pk -sorry to hear about the job . Good luck for next week !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
1. OH came over for lunch and LOTS of cuddles
2. He also brought me and DD our Christmas presents and we gave him his
3. I've sorted out DD's hair at long last........it's detangled (had become dreadlocks), clean and now neatly braided - and she didn't cry much....
4. Yet another house moving form!
5. Just about to go and have dinner at a girly chum's house
6. Lovely friends are having DD over for a sleepover, yay!
7. Did I mention I saw OH today*swoon* Won't see him now until after Christmas *sigh* but hopefully by then, he'll be starting to get better, fingers and toes crossed.

Quick 5 as sons have started fighting tooth and nail (at about the exact moment I sat down and picked up the laptop...)
1) Bit of a lie in.
2) Brother came round to play Mario Kart.
3) Book I ordered for dad to give to mum (!) has come through the post.
4) Got LOADS done. Went into nearest (small) town and got beer for MrB with help from the man who runs the off licence. I'd never even been in an off licence before! Also got some sugar mice and took stuff to the charity shop. Then pushed on to Sainsburys and got last few bits.
5) Remembered to put petrol in the car and water and pump up the tyres.
6) Went for a walk to our local pub.
7) Watched my friend on Come Dine With Me. Just sat idly watching something about travelling show people and we know the lady on there too!0 -
Evening all! Sorry, just a flying visit.
1. Finished work now until January 3rd.
2. Being given wine as a thank you by the guy I work for.
3. Enjoying a glass of said wine!
4. Managing to edit not one but two chapters of the novel today.
5. Hopefully geting something sorted for New Year - our original plans fell through.
6. Another nice email about a short story I wrote.
7. Being very organised and planning meals until the end of the year.
8. Doing some yoga this morning. Hopefully I am getting bendier and stretchier...
9. Another no-spend day - I don't think I've spent anything since Monday.
10. Listening to music.Life is not a dress rehearsal.0 -
VJs mum, hope you are feeling a bit less delicate now x
Mine for today
1 managed to track down the parcel that parcel force were meant to deliver on Monday - they had left it at a random post office (not local) along with a load of others, so it seemed! hadn't attempted to deliver it as there was someone (and barky dog) in all day. No card to say they'd attempted delivery. Rage. But all ok now
2 Went to our local farm shop for a few bits. Owner had run out of cider (for friends hubby) so he sold me some organic cider from his own stash, v cheaply. What a star!
3. Together with mum I made mince pies, choc brownie and Christmas cupcakes for presents for various people.
4. Put hamper together for my friends- wine, cider, chocs, panatone(sp?), biccies, mince pies and choc brownies ( and dog treats for their JRT). used a basket I had already, wrapped in cellophane with a tasteful bow.
5. Made a few last min Xmas cards, include one for dad to give mum (he usually announces on xmas eve that he hasn't got one). The cheeky s*d wrote £3.50 on the back and pretended he'd bought it!! Like she would believe that!
6. Took GSD for her pedicure (nail trim) and she didn't show me up tooooo much. Shook from head to toe and almost took out a shop display and there were people queueing outside as we had to corner her near the door to finish her off, but we shall gloss over that. And the fact that she dragged me back to the car, sweating and red. She is just about speaking to me now. She has a habit of making things 100x more traumatic than needs be
Warm here tonight. Bunnies have been playing loose in the garden today and are camping out in their ski chalet (chicken coop) tonight. Utility room looks empty without them
Hugs to anyone in need xx0 -
I know I posted earlier, but that was for yesterday.
PK - great news about the second interview. :T
I kill kettles. :rotfl: I tried to go back to using an electric one several years ago and in a moment of great absent mindedness, after years of using stove-top versions, I forgot that it was not meant to go on the hob and melted it. It seems safer to stick with the system I am most used to. This one has a whistle that seems to work so I should be ok for a while.
Here's five for today:
1. DS1 is being a domestic god atm. He's got the kitchen looking spic and span again, did all his clothes washing, vacuumed through etc. Then...
2. Accompanied me while we braved Mr S to do the pre-weekend shop and did all the packing at the till. He's made things so much easier today.:T
3. Got a second-hand book I'd ordered for work-related stuff delivered. Looks really useful.
4. Started crocheting a new net bag. I'm using some charcoal coloured sock wool with a fairly high nylon content so I think it should be quite strong. It's an experiment but it's looking good so far.
5. The Christmas tree is sitting twinkling in the corner of the room and looks so pretty.
Sweet dreams

hello from a Sweaty Betty Mhagster (no offence meant to any Betty's out there!!)
30o and very humid and too hot for wee me!
1.Up early & had a nice quiet start to my day! Waited for children waking up ....thinking they would be up before they were but let them lie on!
2.Hmmmmm....went to nearby town that OH & I go to for shopping....DD2 & I were going for a Friday scone.....but ....town was absolutely jam packed .We could not find a parking space any where, I tried 4 carparks getting further & further away from shops and still none, so gave up! So we went to our next town, had a nice chatty lunch then hit the supermarket! They had every till open so it wasn't too bad at all & got a few bargains! Chatted to a lovely waiter who was from Canada & this was his first Australian Christmas & yep! all wrong for him too! However, he was meeting his family who were flying in to Sydney tomorrow for a few weeks holiday so he was looking forward to that!
3.All beds stripped, washed & remade! I do like nice ,clean sheets for Christmas! Washing was dry in half an hour it was so hot.
4.DD2 picked her first home grown strawberry!
5.We are having friends over tomorrow so I've made starter & main & they are bringing pudding.
6.Made my first ever chilli jam, still too hot to try but looks & smells okay.
7.Have been listening to Radio 2 all afternoon so have enjoyed all the Christmassy music.
8.DD2 & I singing Jingle Bells very loudly in the car.
Have a lovely day before the day before Christmas!0 -

Bless your GSD being "precious" xx:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Morning all.
My pleasures for yesterday:
1) My missing prezzies turned up so I now don't have to worry about finding a nice coat-hanger for my DM.
2) A lazy sort of day at work: there wasn't much to do as so few people are in, so a group of us spent most of the afternoon competing to see who could get the highest score on a (free :money:) computer game someone found online. (I won.)
3) Cuddles with mog when I got home - he's suddenly decided that he has to have a fuss the moment I get in through the door, no matter what else I have to do.
4) Mooching down to the pub quiz and admiring all the lights and decorations in people's windows.
5) We came fourth in the quiz, which means a prize of beer - I ended up with a bottle of the ginger stout I've been enthusing about since last time we came 4th, as it makes the most wonderful beef stew.
I'll be back later with pleasures for today.Back after a very long break!0 -
I won first prise in a little online competition, and won an lovely ultra soft pet bed that arrived today.
The post also bought a Cillit bang hand washer dispenser and refill, I am feeling rather happy with winnings at the moment.
A friend delivered some totally unexpected presents a completely lovely surprise.
We took our excess Christmas tree to a charity shop, along with a big bag of clothes.
Got loads of bits and pieces done but wow it was seriously very busy out there today, picked up a repeat prescription, a few food bits, fresh bread, I was sorely tempted by some alcohol but we can’t afford it so had to be good, came back with some boxes from lidl that the animals love playing in.
Received a letter from the council saying they have backdated our council tax to our original claim date which is what we have fought for, and a pleasant surprise, as we paid it until we could, we get a little refund which I was not expecting.
We have our eyes out for big freezer, we have been looking on ebay and freegle and charity ymca type shops but it’s the wrong time of year, I am hoping that there will be some in the new year after everyone’s got all of their new things
The bad:- our tumble dryer was hanging in for grim death over the past year, but it’s now packed up completely. Dam, I am rather hoping that some will appear 2nd hand in the new year or maybe there will be an amazing white good sale on some where.0
