An update the role I interviewed for has said they are “not rejecting me”, it sounds odd I know, but I still have so much crossed I’ve worked hard to get though the doors so this would be lovely esp. at this time of year so I am still everything crossed, touching wood, I would cast a spell if I could!
purplekitten - I will cross eveything for you too - even my eyes if it helps.I think it is about time your luck changed for the better , you have had a tough time of late and I take my hat off to you for staying so positive.:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Evening all! I have been awol for a couple of days, so need to catch up, but RIP Maggie, so sorry Chicken
Mine for the past couple of days
Haven't been doing anything OS this past couple of days- it seems to have been a whirlwind of work/housework/horsesI broke up today until 9th Jan and friend seemed intent on raining on my parade and made me feel bad about being off for so long (one plus point of academia, makes up for the rubbish pay) She does this every time I have some good news to share. Pah. I have also had a run in with payroll as they have owed me money since March- I wanted it to go on holiday in the summer and I am still waiting for it now
They have lost the paperwork again, so we had to fax it over to them for the nth time. If I were so useless at my job, I'd have had my backside kicked through the door by now!!
Normal service to be resumed ASAP, in the meantime, hugs to anyone in need xx0 -
Been a funny old day. Went to Tinker Puss's daddy's funeral. He was only 39.
Let's see what I can come up with:
1. Coming home to the delights lurking in my slow cooker - spicy lentil and vegetable stew, which I served on a huge bed of brown rice. Yummy.
2. A potentially difficult situation for me at the funeral going off much better than I'd expected.
3. Glass of red wine at the wake.
4. Starting the day with a session at the gym, thanks to the free passes I have. So good to go back there and see familiar faces after so long away! As for the exercise high I went on - it lasted all the way up until I got lost on the way to the funeral. Then there was an awful lot of cursing and swearing in the car, not that it helped!
5. Working long and hard on a particularly difficult chapter of my novel.
6. Another hot bowl of warming porridge once home from the gym. I'm not used to eating hot cereal but in this weather, it's perfect.
7. Having a siesta in the afternoon, with Tinker Puss curled up against my legs.
8. Another successful day on the housework front. I do a version of Flylady as it's the only way I'll ever keep on top of things. Should be easier once I downsize to Portsmouth.
9. Texts from my lovely friend.
10. Meeting some lovely people to chat to at the funeral, who I'll probably bump into again over the Christmas period.Life is not a dress rehearsal.0 -
Purple Kitten - sorry to hear about Mr Purple Kitten.
Kittikins - sorry to hear your OH is not so well.
Don't know why I can't do bold on this new laptop!
5 or so from here for today (Weds).
1) Bit of a lie in.
2) Cooked breakfast.
3) Sorted out all the toy boxes and the boys' room generally. It's only 9 foot x 5.5 foot and has a bunkbed in so I can't let it get too messy.
4) Walked to the nearest pub with the boys (5 miles in total). It was shut! But a nice walk in the sunset.
5) Neighbour from 2 doors away brought us a tin of chocolates.
6) Sons enjoyed talking to my brother on Skype.
7) Texts from MrB. He is up north (in his hometown) as we speak where his football team has just won!
8) All presents wrapped.0 -
Purple kitten - it was a freebie I sent away for on the freebie board. It's bizarre I know, but I thought it would be handy! My OH's dad watched me open it - his face was a picture when I produced a coathanger!
Also, good luck for that job!
Millie2008 - I would be raging at the payroll dept too! March?!
1. Fell about laughing at a youtube video (the Masterchef 'buttery biscuit base' one). I loved it so much I watched it about 5 times in a row
2. Got just about everything packed and organised for going away at Christmas. I'm out tomorrow night, staying at my pal's and then heading up the road to my mum's on Friday so tonight was the last night to do everything. So got my outfit for tomorrow and overnight bag sorted, neighbours cards written, bathroom and bedrooms cleaned, OH's presents wrapped, and 4 days' worth of clothes and stuff packed.
3. Had yummy curried bubble n squeak with veggie sausages and poached egg for tea. Mmmm, it's my favourite tea!
4. My OH came in at 3.30pm and asked if I would like a glass of wine. Because it's Christmas, I did(any excuse)
5. Had a nice chat with my mum on the phone tonight0 -
hurrah! hurrah! hurrah! I am on my summer holidays! Nearly 3 weeks off work, no early starts, no later finishes....no work! (no pay either sadly but heh!)
1.Last day at work, we had loads to do to get finished up & everyone was kind with their good wishes for Christmas.
2.Brought home cakes, muffins, brownies & cookies that had been left for us.
3.Was given an incredibly generous voucher by my employer.....never in my life have I had such a generous gift! Was not expected at all.
4.After work drinks (soft for me!!) met some of the new people I will be working with in my new promoted post. They were all heading out for dinner which I had declined as OH has his work night out
tonight. Stopped at chippie on may home & enjoyed a chip butty!
5. Lovely text from my friend who has arrived in Melbourne safely & we'll catch up next week.
6.DD2 has finished primary....end of an era!
7.Girls had made cakes!
Have a great day!0 -
Morning
Pleasures for yesterday,
1. OH parking in our office car park when he came to town to shop saving on parking charges.
2. Getting a job done at work in super quick time that I had thought would take ages.
3. Family night out at Cinema - Orange Wednesday plus drinks from the pound shop and sweeties from one of the many tins in the office
4. Dinner out at Nandos used Luncheon Vouchers from surveys that I had been saving for a family dinner so very money saving :money:
5. Call from a friend to say that the Op she had on her ankle appears to have been successful, fingers crossed plus to invite us round for christmas drinks on christmas eve.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Feeling a little delicate after yesterday's works do
so, 5 for yesterda
1. Meeting my lovely friend at works do - don't see her enough
2. Lazy morning at home
3. Got DD a couple of more bits for christmas - thanks to finding an HMV voucher i'd forgotten about
4. REally nice food at the lunch - and quite good value too
5. Going to the pub  but not actually getting too drunk
I could have fared a lot worse, drink wise - and have in the past. My friend drank 4 pints to my one glass of wine, tho i did catch up a bit later.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Mhagster, I love your summery postings - they remind me of what's to come.
Meant to post last night so here's a few for yesterday:
1. The downstairs of the house is clean and tidy and vacuumed.
2. Christmas tree is up and decorated.
3. All the little Christmas tree prezzies (our alternative to Santa) are wrapped ready for me to cover the tree with them on Christmas eve night.
4. Veggiebox (plus extras) arrived, including a brilliant collection of organic cheese which we will demolish over the next week. Lots of ploughman's type snack lunches will be made with that! We don't buy much by way of extras food for Christmas so the cheese is a real treat and I've already got a jar of onion marmalade put by.
5. The new stove-top whistling kettle I'd ordered for me has arrived so we no longer have to use a pan on the stove. We've been making do with that pan for so long and I really need it back in action full-time as a cooking pan.
Have a good afternoon.
B x0 -
Broomstick:- I had to get a new kettle as the pan doesn’t whistle and I kept forgetting about it
1.Popped out to pay our change pot into our bank account to make sure a few bills get paid.
2. While out we popped into the 99p shop to pick up a few bits.
3. All of the ferret and cat bedding has soaked washed and is just drying.
4. This is a weird one, the job I interviewed for earlier this week - did say no today! But I am assured it’s not my fault, one the other chaps has his eye on “his mate” for the role – nice, however I had another interview today for a role within a charity and it was more like talking with a friend, the 2nd interview is already lined up for next Wednesday. X
5. Tea was a strange concoction of leftovers, looking forward to some mince pies!0
