    Evening all.

    My five for Monday.

    1. Last night's supper warmed up was even nicer a day old!

    2. Getting the remainder of the Xmas presents delivered in one go by a happy, chatty postie who was delighted that her postbag had got so much lighter in one fell swoop. :D Have wrapped everything now and the pile looks both pretty and modest in quantity which is a good combination imho!

    3. I'd also ordered for my elderly parents, some Hotties handwarmers to cheer them up when they are waiting freezing cold at bus stops, and some for us as well to have in our car and backpacks for emergencies. Of course, we had to try a pair :o and I've been terribly impressed. 9 hours after activating them they are still really warm. They feel like a real indulgence at 70p per disposable pair, but in an emergency I think they would be so comforting.

    4. Have decided what to spend the book voucher I'd been saving from my birthday on.:) It was fun choosing.

    5. Hearing some cheering up news about a family who have gone through terribly hard times recently.

    Sweet dreams

1.later start to work, so enjoyed a very quiet & peaceful house before going out to a very noisy /busy workplace!

2.Got road-raged at by some fool who pulled out in front of me! The pleasure.....I was in the right & he was in the wrong.....his anger carried on long after I slowed down so as not to be so near him. He was ranting, gesticulating etc.....rude man!

3.Home....and we all sat & chatted & chatted & laughed and laughed some more. I do like my children!

4.Easy peasy tea, meatballs & spaghetti. HM strawberry ice cream for pud.

5.Getting Christmas cards from far away friends/family & also a text from a good friend from home ,who is en-route to Melbourne to stay with her daughter for a month. We are looking forward to catching up when they are here.

    6. 3 bedrooms getting tidied as I type.....Santa might not be coming this year but their mum still expects tidy bedrooms at this time of year!

    Have a lovely Tuesday xx

    Morning

    Pleasures for yesterday,
    1. Cinnamon Whirl for breakfast and took some in for work friends. They were on SO in Tesco so very money saving
    2. Nice chat with mum on the phone and both laughing at a remembered incident about 20 years ago. As soon as a name was mentioned we both started laughing.
    3. DD making some little christmas stockings that we are going to fill with chocs for table presents. I am rubbish at sewing and craft things, she must get this from my mum.
    4. Rain stopped in time for me to walk home from work, nice to get fresh air after being in the office all day
    5. Easy but tasty HM Chilli for dinner

Hugs to all who need them

Broomstick - can I ask where you got these? I have reynaulds in my hands and they go blue when I'm outside. I'm always on the lookout for new handwarmers - especially ones that last 9 hours!

    My pleasures for yesterday:

    1. I got paid
    2. Made a start on wrapping my Christmas presents
    3. My OH's dad is staying for a few days. He lives in a very hot country so was freezing, which meant we had the central heating on. Bliss!
    4. I made a nice red cabbage recipe I got from another OS thread for tea. OH and his dad had steak pie, I had a Quorn kiev - yum!
    5. My OH and his dad fixed 2 leaks under the sink. It had been left so long, the shelf underneath had rotted and there was a horrid musty damp smell. They are putting in a new shelf today.

Poor you. I got them from Amazon but I think 'Little Hotties' are sold in lots of places like outdoor shops and fishing equipment suppliers. I thought they weren't going to work at first because they didn't warm up very quickly but I reread the instructions which were that you had to put them in an enclosed bit of clothing like a pocket and then they became really warm indeed and stayed that way.

I know there are bigger and even better ones out there though because I first came across them when working outdoors on location filming. Wardrobe departments seemed to have a good supply to keep actors warm! If you ever see a big film crew at work you could always try speaking to the costume people to see what brand they use. :D

  • Thanks Broomstick, I will check them out! Me and my OH are planning a 2-week hiking/camping trip next year so am looking for some options. I have a zippo handwarmer that you fill with lighter fluid and light (yes really!) and when I can get it lit it works a treat - but not so practical for hiking with everything on your back, and trying to keep weight at a minimum. So at the moment I am testing everything I can get my mitts on. If you pardon the pun! :D

Just lost a long post in which I mentioned everybody, honest! Almost my siesta time so will just do my 5 -

    1. Dog is slowly getting better better, only coughing 8 out of 24 hours now and after no sleep for 2 nights we both feel like wrung out dishrags

    2. Bought myself a new slow cooker as the other one is crazed inside, don't fancy lifting it out and leaving the bottom and contents behind - that would be a soggy bottom, CCP? ;) It was 1/2 price on @m@zon with free delivery so quite a bargain

    3. The box the above came in is perfect for all DM's pressies so has been recycled for that, and I'll have it back afterwards as I've just thought of yet another use for it :)

    4. Went to two meetings yesterday, both followed by buffets and I didn't eat anything at either!!! All the usual pastry/bread type of things, went home and had a yummy bowl of hm rather garlicky chicken/veg soup. Much tastier, just as well I didn't have to go out again afterwards though :D

    5. Spoke to DB on the phone this morning and arranged to meet him at DM's on Thursday when we'll all go out for a pre-Christmas lunch. She likes to have her little family without their extended families from time to time, even if DB and I do rib each other constantly and she doesn't get a word in! :D

Have a good rest of the day :)

sparrer -((hugs)) to you and your little dog. It is such a worry when they are poorly. However ladyhawk and I give you a big thumbs up for the afternoon siesta :)

mhagster -well done on staying so calm re the road rage !

purplekitten - I hope you are ok. you have not been around for a while??

    a few for today

    1. Not a pleasure but Maggie hen passed away :(. She was such a beautiful bird . I know that she was " just a hen " but they all have their own characters . My friends chickens are coming over for a holiday which will provide a welcome distraction.
    2. Got lots done at work - banged out a report by midday and the providers were happy with it.
    3. Last day at tomorrow and I am on a site visit in the morning so it should go quickly.
    4. Freezers run right down for Christmas food. OH looks lost as the "cupboards are bare"in the house:rotfl:
    5. Early night with rubbish tv as OH is out for the evening ( in my lovely car which I am not so keen about)

Have a good evening all !
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A

    :D

Chicken - sorry to hear about Maggie.... it's always sad to loose something that you have cared for.

    Quick 5 from me...

    1) Nice "demob happy" atmosphere in the office. Pity it was because one of my favourite colleagues was leaving today.

    2) HM mince pies for brekkie

    3) Walked into town with two of the men from work... it was like dragging two naughty boys round with mum! But very funny

    4) Being taken out for dinner with some colleagues what are home workers who are staying over night tonight in prep for a big meeting tomorrow.

    5) Got some good feedback from some of my scottish colleagues via my boss.

    Night all

    L

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

When you're as old as me siesta becomes an integral part of your day, being retired I get plenty of practice ;)

Oh I am sorry about Maggie, poor her, poor you. She wasn't 'just a hen' she was an important part of your family, as all animals/birds/pets are, and I've really enjoyed reading about her. S xx
