    RIP Maggie Hen :( xx

    1. DD and I went to London to see the "best show ever" in her opinion, The Nutcracker. Oh, it was beautiful, and we had pretty good seats. Just a shame OH wasn't with us.....

    2. Train fare was quite good - it cost only 20p more to get a travelcard added on, and DD's entire ticket was £1!

    3. I took us some snacks and water to save money :)

    4. DD 'bought' me another Christmas present, I just handed over my credit card in the shop, lol.

    5. Took DD for early dinner at Pizzza Hut, using a voucher, so her meal was free :)

    6. The buyers of my house sent an electrician round to check the wiring.....hoping this is a pleasure and he hasn't found anything untoward! But it sounds like it's another step closer. I cba to do the same to the house I'm buying!

Right, I'll try that again - I'd just finished a post and was about to post when mog trod on the keyboard and wiped the lot.

Chickenopolis - I'm sorry to hear about Maggie hen. I don't think there's any such thing as 'just an animal' (or bird) - they're all special in their own way.

    1) Bought the last of my Christmas presents. All I've got to do now is keep my fingers crossed that the ones I've ordered off the internet turn up soon.

    2) Submitted my essay. :j:j

    3) Inspired by someone on this thread (skintmum, I think), I cooked up the venison meatballs I bought on Sunday with some mulled wine and various root veg, which came out very nicely indeed.

    4) Used up LO pastry from the weekend in an apple and mincemeat tart.

    5) I'm now off to wrap the presents I've got while watching The Nightmare Before Christmas and sipping some more mulled wine (well, now I've opened the bottle I've got use it, haven't I? ;)).

    Have a lovely evening, all.
Back after a very long break!

chickenopolis: so sad to here of Maggie hen, have a warm hug! It's Wednesday morning here & just had a delivery of Recipe books ordered from Amazon UK which had free postage to Australia. Books as like everything else here are expensive ,rather prohibitively so, so I am quite excited at reading these on Sunday...they are part of my Christmas present!

Night to you all as I start my day!

Chickenopolis - sorry to hear about Maggie Hen. :-(

Not going to write much as I'm tired of losing long posts! But here are 5 for today:

    1) Sons' last day at school! Took sloe gin in for the teachers and teaching assistants.

    2) Went into town and got something for MrB! It has been a hard task. :-D

    3) Picked up my new laptop.

    4) Took brother's dog for a walk.

    5) Popped to my sister's for a cup of tea.

    6) Texts from MrB. :-)

    7) Sons enjoyed using Skype on the new laptop to talk to my brother.
  • Very sorry to hear about Maggie the hen, Chickenopolis :(

    My pleasures for today:

    1. The smell of my homemade bread - it's wafting up the stairs as I type. It's risen perfectly, too. :T

    2. Speaking on the phone with someone who is coming on Friday to meet Tinker Puss and hopefully fall in love with her. Who wouldn't?!

    3. A day out of the office, spent at a business club, which isn't as dull as it sounds. We did lots of work on planning our goals for 2012 and it was very useful.

    4. Not a pleasure for some, I know, but the business club was situated well out of town so I got to drive for quite a while. I love driving, you see!

    5. Having my evening meal all prepared so I just had to heat it up when I got home. After feeding Tinker Puss, of course!

    6. Text from friend to say how much she enjoyed our curry last night, and then an email with more information about police procedure to help with my novel.

    7. Message on Facebook from a friend in Portsmouth who I've not had any contact with for ages. Will be good to catch up with her when I move to Pompey.

    8. As usual - editing another chapter of my novel and working well on it.

    9. Another no spend day. Should get paid this week, too.

    10. Getting some helpful advice ref book publication.

Think that's all for now - I'd best go see to my bread!
Life is not a dress rehearsal.

    RIP Maggiethehen.

    My five for Tuesday:

    1. Braved a dental appointment. The pleasure bit was that I can now tick off the first thing of a very long list of things to be fixed. :T

    2. Cooked HM mackerel fish cakes with baked beans for supper making one tiddly tin of fish stretch for miles with bucket loads of mash (using up the end of the sack of spuds). :D

    3. Also cooked two small apple crumbles using up the old apples. We had one with custard for pudding and the other will do tomorrow night. I have stock waiting to make bottom of fridge soup tomorrow. Then with that and the bits DS1 will take into work for his packed lunch, just about everything will have been used up ready for the Christmas vegbox plus delivery. I'm really pleased with myself about this.:D

    4. I ordered a book with the voucher from my birthday.

    5. Sitting crocheting while listening to some radio drama.

    Sweet dreams everyone.

  • Hi I’m sorry I’ve not been about for a while, Mr PK was taken very poorly and taken into hospital, he is now safely home and a lot better still recovering :-), I just didn't want to post doom and gloom on what is supposed to be a cheer thread, just catching up on the posts..

More interviews this week believe it or not on the lead up Christmas, come on something’s surely going to come up – the power of determination. I am waiting for feedback on one I have so much crossed for yet again.

We have been accepted for council tax benefit which is a little relief, now if only we could get a JSA payment (we have been waiting 3 months) with phone calls each week.

We did the Christmas shop today, as we are on such a seriously tight tight budget we listed everything on a little note pad as we put it in the trolley, we bought yellow stickers, own brand to check what we could get.

Looking forward to my first ever attempt at a Yule log, I have visions of disaster ahead so any tips gratefully received.
  • Thank you all for your kind words x

    purplek ((hugs)) to you .

frith -oooh a shiny new laptop !
