CCP- ((hugs)) to you . I would have looked after your cat if all else had failed - peace of mind and all- priceless.
Ladyhawk - tiny bit jealous re the siesta , not the cold though - poor you and kittikins arms length ((hugs)) to you both xx
Millie -ouch re the toe x:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
CCP:- Hugs, Sorry you are having a bad day, try not to be too tearful at food mis-haps, I am about to try and cook a Yule log for the first time ever, and Mr PK is just in the process of trying to cook some Christmas treat,s as the first treats I rescued and we turned into a type of mince meat err pudding..
Skintbint:- That's an amazing cooking list..per the above I have a sneaking suspicion my yule log will be a chocolate "mess".
I have lost a pair of valuable ear rings and it’s bugging me as I have no idea where they could be, I have gone back over everywhere but to no avail... However my search did enlighten me to a gift of what is supposed to be “good”mulled wine we were gifted last year so bought that down with me, hey so found something I had forgotten but not what I was looking for.0 -
5 or so for today (Christmas Eve Eve)
1) Bit of a lie in.
2) Went to the cinema. Took a picnic!
3) Phoned a few friends.
4) Enjoyed watching The Nativity Play (or whatever it was called, with Martin Freeman) which was set in MrB's home city. :-)
5) Smaller son made some mince pies. Some had christmas trees on top (made of pastry), some had stars, while others had daleks...
That's about it!0 -
Evening
Pleasures for today;
1. Half day at work, though not a lot of work went on. I have been organising our christmas raffle so sold a few more tickets and held the draw. While I didn't win anything I am more than pleased as we raised £161 for the NSPCC. Our office is quite small now so really pleased with the amount plus will hopefully get another £150 in matched funding from work
2. Drink bought for me in the pub from someone who is leaving to go to a new job today.
3. Getting a christmas card from my SIL and kids today. While I know she is being OS I wish she would buy some new address labels as the one on the back of the envelope has hers and my brothers name on (he died just over 3 years ago). It did bring a little tear to my eye.
4. All presents wrapped, I am normally still wrapping things at midnight on christmas eve so feel somewhere near organised this year
5. Going through the present cupboard now everything is wrapped and working out I have several birthday presents already for next year. All things that have been bought in sales through out the year
Hugs to all who need them0 -
for the past couple of days
1. A good day with DM and DB, excellent lunch and a stroll round the Christmas market afterwards. Didn't spend though as I don't need anything for a week or two. Awful driving, in total 8 hours to do a three hour round trip.
2. Saw lots of breakdowns and felt pleased I'd taken time to check the car over/fill what needed/put air in tyres etc before setting out
3. Long chat on the phone with DS, won't be seeing him over the holiday as they're going to the Lakes but hope to in the New Year
4. Took the Tightness Test - sorry to say I only got 54% but it was more than some. Just need to try harder
5. Didn't quite make my weight loss target but have lost exactly 2 stone since last Boxing Day
6. Rather selfish this one but is a bit MS, I'm not doing Christmas this year. DD has the pleasure of eight at her table but we did do the shopping together, for which I somehow picked up the bill. The joys of motherhood
7. Three buffets this week/weekend, one which I catered but didn't have to pay for, so quite a few free meals - always tasty
8. today and tomorrow are nsd/npd's
Hugs to everyone who needs, hope the cooks among us can take some me time tomorrow. If you have to drive take care out there, as my driving instructor used to say you just have to remember that everyone else on the road is an idiot.

Evening all - just seen it's gone midnight so it's now Christmas Eve...
My five pleasures for Friday:
1. Going round to my parents to do the family pre-Xmas get together. Normally we do it on Xmas Eve so it feels odd for it to have been a day early but nevertheless it went well with lovely food and all the cousins playing well with each other and the grandparents happy. Tomorrow will be very quiet I think.
2. Getting a late birthday present in with the Christmas ones from one of my sisters (so I could unwrap it today:D).
3. Simple organic baked potatoes, tuna, sweetcorn and salad for supper which was just enough after lots of food at lunchtime.
4. A bit more time doing my crochet while listening to some more radio drama.
5. Getting DS2 to agree his academic work plan for the next six months so at least we have some goals in place. Fingers crossed!

Merry Christmas from me! Bit of a storm going on at the moment! My Christmas Eve:
1.Up very early, have a bad back at the moment, one of these comes & goes kind of bad backs so could not lie in bed any longer .Up at 4.30am. Made shortbread, mince pies (lovely orangey pastry) trifle, pavlova, 2 lasagnes.
2.Christmas Eve scone.
3.Saw Santa again! Got OH to drive round the roundabout again so I could take a photo!
4.Had friends over for dinner which was very pleasant. Gave kids their's earlier so we could have a grown up meal! They did puddings which were very lovely!
5.all ready for the morning, I never sleep on Christmas Eve/Christmas night with excitement but I'm actually rather tired so hope to sleep better tonight.
Enjoy your Christmas Eve, don't get too stressed....it's only 1 day! Night x0 -
Happy Christmas eve everyone
Mine for today
1. Caught up with some animal jobs (haynet filling, etc) so that they won't take me too long to do tomorrow
2. Dashed around doing some last min cleaning jobs, house looks nice now
3. Made homemade pizza for lunch; caramalised onion honey and goats cheese and caramalised apple and Stilton. They were yummy!
4. Mum made cranberry sauce and Stilton pate for tomorrow and choc roulade for tonight. Dad has prep'd veg for tomorrow, so we are kind of organised.
5. Got a hilarious card from friend "merry Christmas from (insert name of local chavtown)" I thought it was ironic, but seemingly not. Standing joke between us because I love this town (cheap shops ahoy). OH just didn't get it "but she doesn't live there"
6. Got some stuff together for hols as I am determined that it's not going to be the last min madness of previous years
Hugs to all in need xx0 -
1. Woke up early after a bad night trying to sleep with this s*dding cold, but it meant I got the last of the packing/wrapping/housework done before DD got up, well........ish!
2. More house buying/selling stuff has arrived - this time slightly irritating questions for me to tackle, but on the other hand, it takes me another step closer I guess.....
3. Picked up our lovely friend and drove up towards our respective parents, chatting and singing Christmas songs all the way
4. The M25 was quiet
5. Nice chat and tasty snacks at friend's parents house when we dropped her off
6. Lovely to see my brother and parents, even if I am in quarantine and was sent to bed for the afternoon, and have been back here since about 7pm!
7. My bro has offered to take Claudia to church in the morning if I'm not up to it0
