    Evening all.

    1) Mog waking me up for his breakfast this morning - a pleasure both because it means he's feeling better, and because I forgot to set my alarm and would have been late for work without my alarm cat. :o

    2) The vet advising me that the mog doesn't need another check-up unless his symptoms come back, which will save me a bit of money as he seems to be totally back to normal, having scared the life out of me on Saturday. ;)

    3) He's got to stay on a chicken diet for the rest of the week, though, so I was very pleased to pick up a couple of packs on special offer. :money:

    4) Very nice shortbread biccie at work this afternoon - there's plenty for everyone as I got a gift box of the stuff as an apology from a shop I made a complaint to on Friday. (I took it into work to stop me eating the lot myself - I really don't have much of a sweet tooth but I adore shortbread!)

    5) Easy and fairly MS / OS dinner tonight - steak and ale stew from a batch cooking session a few weeks ago (using steak which was on SO), with veg LO from the M&S meal deal I had on Saturday, followed by apple pie from the same source (with cream which wasn't meal deal or SO, but you can't have apple pie without cream ;)).

Have a very pleasant evening, all, despite the foul weather.
Back after a very long break!

    3. All xmas decorations are up and look lovely
    4. Been a good long walk this afternoon, most refreshing
    5. A lady from the village offered a lift, didnt take it as I was on my walk but it was very kind of her to stop and ask.

    1. lost 2lb last week but will no doubt find it again as I'm out for dinner twice this week ;)

    2. 'Decorations' up, one little pre-decorated tree in a pot and several tiny plants - poinsettia, kalanchoe etc, in gold pots dotted around the lounge.

    3. All cards sent and the last present bought on line. Thanks to MSE, comparison sites etc, I've not actually paid the full price for anything :)

    4. DD, who has Lupus, was told of a simple home remedy for the flakiness, soreness and inflamed skin on her face. Very sceptical but having tried it for a week it's actually working. It could mean goodbye to steroids and all the other prescribed pills, lotions and potions :T:T:T

5 - as good as above, a friend who has the same illness as me, but much worse of course, has been called 9 times for a lung transplant without success (all no-matches). He was called at 3am today, and now has a new pair of lungs :j:j:j

It's been a pretty good day - understatement! Enjoy your evening :D

    1) I went for an interview at University of Bath for Masters in Chemistry and on the way home I received an email from the admissions tutor saying I impressed my interviewer and "I have to say also that reading the personal statement on your UCAS form is one of the things that makes this process all worthwhile for me. I have read a lot of UCAS forms (about 550 since October this year) and yours was easily the best personal statement" (copied from email). Thrilled is not even the word!!!
    2) Bath was beautiful and when I got back there was a Christmas market in my home town, so beautiful and Christmassy.
    3) HM previously jarred pasta sauce on spaghetti assembled by my OH waiting for me when I got home
    4) DD being extra sweet; we played on her bed for a while and now I'm being a bad mummy and letting her stay in my bed and watch Stardust.
    5) Been contacted by a blog who wants to feature our wedding story (is that OS!? Ah well!)

All in all a fabby day!

Sparrer - what fabulous news for your friend, hope he and his new lungs will be very very happy together :)

MandM90 - woohoo! what a great interview you did, you must be feeling as pleased as punch :)

I'm having a horrible day today, feel really ill, but can't put my finger on what it is, I just feel like I'm wading through treacle, both in moving and thinking, and my arms and legs in particular feel really heavy and tired, so have spent most of the day trying to 'rest' and hope I'll feel better by the morning. But yay, I've managed to get 5 pleasures for the day, woohoo!! :)

    1. Received a lovely email from the organiser of yesterday's show thanking us, especially DD, for her help with the tea party

    2. NSD, yay, 2nd target reached.....going to set myself a stricter target next year that's for sure!

    3. A lovely friend took DD up to school for me as I don't think I could have walked it at that time of day.

    4. Had nice friends accompany me on the stroll up and down from school this afternoon, when picking DD up.

    5. DD looked after me when we got back home, and spoke to OH on the phone about how I was feeling, my little doctor.

Thanks Kittikins hope you feel better soon. It's great you can still find 5 pleasures, and meeting your target is great
  • Not OS, but yesterday I had a happy revelation. I'm having treatment for breast cancer, with accompanying intermittent deep deep sadness. Until yesterday, when I realised what was happening was grief - for my life as it was, now is, and will be, no matter how long I live. This such a normal reaction, that I immediately felt normal - and the really bad thoughts have now gone. I'm not saying this is the cure-all for all time, but knowing I'm grieving really helps.

There are other happy things - seeing two of my grandchildren yesterday, and two others this morning, and a very close friend texted me saying my life appeared to him as one of courage, madcap adventures and inextinquishable passion. Plans to carry on that way .....

    Just wanted to tell someone

quick hello with Monday's pleasures as it's now Tuesday & work beckons!

    1.Cooler day :)
2.Lovely chat with one of my best friends from home, really set me up for the day.
3.Yummy tea of curry, made with RTC chicken.
4.Very yummy pud of caramel shortbread, one with milk chocolate which didn't melt very well & the other I did with white chocolate which melted very well! But both rather tasty.
5.Had a meeting at DD2's new school (she is away there now for an induction day), quite informative and I think she will enjoy herself.
6.Hmmmmm.....part pleasure, part pain....went a walk with OH when we got back, oooooft too many hills , I obviously drive everywhere as before I had my car these were the hills I was walking everyday! My wee legs & lungs & heart were complaining.....however, needs must!
I have to start doing some form of excercise again as weight is starting to creep on again & I don't want to go back to what I was before.
However, good company & lots of lovely decorated gardens & houses to see......obviously people getting into the Christmas spirit which sadly at the moment evades me over here!

susyrosy: Have a hug! You will be such a brave person & a stronger person , I have had friends with breast cancer & I couldn't believe the strength of character they had ,to go through everything that was thrown at them.

Come on here when you can & post your pleasures no matter how small or big or daft they sound. Don't get much dafter than a Saturday Scone & cheap bananas....which are mine.

I'm sure you will have bad days but look forward to the good days. Take care xx

susyrosy -((hugs)) to you x When you are diagnosed with such a horrible disease , no one tells you how you should/may be feeling emotionally . It is a shock and you realise that you may have loads of love and support around you but it is really you that soley has to deal with these feelings. In a way , speaking from personal experience it puts things in to perspective as you have no choice but to see things differently . I couldn't have given a hoot about my mortgage and cellulite when I was given "that" news from my g.p and neurosurgeon . You will eventually cherish what you have, not what you have lost and be a stronger person for it .Good luck - brave one x
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A
