Can't believe the weekend is almost over already! My 5 for today:
    1. Christmas shopping for pressies; already bought lots through glitches/sales/vouchers throughout the year so enjoyed nosing round the shops without feeling stressed
    2. Gospel singers in town, I'm not at all religious but it felt so lovely & wintery listening to their wonderful singing!
    3. Bought myself a naughty early burthday present: some gorgeous bright River Island red high heels- from the charity shop so only £6.99, within budget & a nice feeling that some of my pennies will go to good use!
    4. Hanging around the M&S dessert ailse at 4.30; a box of petit pattiserie cakes reduced to 50p!
    5. Planning my neices & nephews christmas pressies- cinema vouchers in homemade popcorn boxes with some choccies; need to find some movie imagery for on the boxes. :-)
    First home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).
New forever home- Sep’21 £309,449 @ 2.05%. Plan to clear it before 30 years!!!!!!
  • Been a busy weekend for me, but a really nice one.

    1. Went to village pantomime - was great fun

    2. Finished work on Friday and nearly resorted to just heating up a frozen pizza. But my inner-MSE kicked in, I realised I had a cabbage to use up and ended up making the most awesome curried bubble and squeak, thanks to the River Cottage veg book. Made it with veggie sausages and it was great.

    3. Went and picked up a sideboard I got from freecycle. It is really nice and will be so useful for when my OH starts working from home next month.

    4. While I was there, had a wee nosey in the local charity shop. What a find! It is the shop that time forgot and you have to root about, but I do love shops like that.

    5. Me and my OH took the bus into Aberdeen yesterday to do some shopping, have some supper, watch a film and have a few drinks. Spent the day and night there, getting the last bus back at 11.45pm!

    6. Watched a fantastic film in the independent cinema there: Another Earth. Brilliant! And, could sit there watching it in peace with a glass of vino - not something you can do at Cineworld!

    7. Got a bargain supper at Prezzo with a voucher

    8. Had lovely run this morning with a good friend

    9. Made a fab veggie sausage and leek pie for tea, with mash. Yummers!

    10. Our Christmas decorations and lights are finally up!

    2. DS came back from Milton Keynes and got his hat signed by the F1 world champion
    3. Putting up pictures in bedroom - only finished decorating in May :o
    4. OH cooked tea
    5. Just spending the day with the family at home, not doing much but interacting with each other.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

MandM90 - I bought the ingredients to make that chilli jam today- might try and do it tomorrow :D

They came out really lovely! I heard some people ended up with runny jam so I kept testing blobs on a plate, letting them cool until they started to look like a jelly :D Also, to seal the jars I decanted it hot (so the seals popped) so to prevent the chilli from settling in the top I kept shaking the hot jars so they dispersed until they set.

    Morning

    Pleasures for the last couple of days;
    1. Stocking up on meat for the freezer from a farm shop. Freeezer now full to bursting but will not have to visit the shops other than for bread, milk etc until after christmas
    2. Scary Credit Card bill after holiday and some christmas shopping and the pleasure is then realising it is not a problem as had saved the money to cover it :money:
    3. Hearing the salvation army band playing in our local town. Now I know it is christmas.
    4. Took DD to a concert yesterday that she was sooo excited about and she loved every minute. Even managed to get an autograph of one on her favourite pop stars. My ears have just stopped bleeding I think from the noise ( I felt so so old). For those that hae teenagers it was T4 stars of 2011.
    5. Managing to get on the tube home from Earls Court without too much difficultly as we were travelling west away from central london. Then enjoying a hot chocolate while we waited for conecting bus.

Hugs to all who need them

Still no laptop so will just type up any pleasures I can think of since I was last here on Friday.

    1) Bit of a lie in on Saturday.

    2) Went to see brother who was guarding the holly at the country's only holly market. :-)

    3) Went to see dad working at the sheep market in the same town.

    4) Mum's birthday meal - at our local Indian. The other tables were all taken up by an office party and they had hired an Elvis impersonator! He was pretty good and included our table in his routine, changing the words of "Blue Suede Shoes" for smaller son to "I want your ice cream!". He also sang happy birthday to mum. :-D

    5) Took my aunty to visit my uncle in hospital yesterday. He is 92 and has had a slight stroke (he's never been ill before). Not much of a pleasure but good to see he is OK, in fact he looked much more sprightly than anyone else around!

    6) MrB came round. Hadn't seen him for over a week and things are better. :-)

    7) Just about to go into Worcester and do ALL my shopping as this is my last full day, without children, before Christmas...

    Hi -

Just popping by to say that I arrived safely back yesterday morning and then promptly spent the rest of the day in bed recouperating!

Am very sad to be back :( even if it is a bright sunny day today.

Will try an post some pleasures later on.

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

Spent yesterday doing the final sports comp of the year so I wasn't up to posting last night after an early start and the very long drive.

    Five pleasures anyway:

    1. The end of an incredibly intensive term of sports events - so glad we have reached the end of it in one piece without injury or accident and with having tried to be as economical as we could the whole way. The next nine months will be very easy in comparison :T However, it does mean that DS has been competing at the top-most level he can at his age in his sport and he feels very glad to have reached that goal and I'm glad we have made the effort in supporting him.

    2. Sun is shining and there is the tiniest breeze blowing so three loads of washing are on the line in the hope that some evaporation might be possible. :D

    3. Big bowl of porridge and golden syrup for breakfast.

    4. Have resumed crocheting my string bag (used for storing onions). I save the string from round our veggie boxes and every so often add a few more rounds to the bag - I started it for fun a year or so ago and now it looks really good.

    5. Lying really warm in bed last night listening to the world service on the radio and the rain outside.

    Happy afternoons everyone

    B x
  • Good evening all !

Ladyhawk - welcome back to old blighty ... what did you bring us back ??? Yourself . Good xx

Frith - wow we have quite a lot of holly this year in the garden , with lots of berries .Gosh I could have made a few quid at the gate ! Glad to hear you are OK x

    5 for today

    1. Maggie hen still with us- the others are getting a bit pushy with her so I will put her in a separate coop in the morning .

    2. Managed to get a report out on time after making a few amendments .

    3. Counting down my days at work until I break up for Christmas .Only six days left woo hoo !

    4. OH about to cook tea.

5 My favourite one of the day - wearing my lovely vintage Burber*y trench coat to work. It is a small size 10 and is now on the large side. However the best bit is I feel so smug as I paid just £9.99 for it in a CS and they retail at around £700 + ( why?). Another thing for my neices to "inherit" :D

Have a good evening all x
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A
