  • I was out last night so didn't get a chance to update sooo....

    1. Last night went to see a band with some of my brothers and their girlfriends. The ticket was a birthday present for me from one of them. It was a fantastic night - the band were excellent and it was a really good laugh

    2. Managed to dodge the ridiculous new parking fee of £5 for the venue (it was free until recently) by parking at an office carpark nearby

    2. Came back and my OH had made me a cottage pie and decorated the Christmas tree!

    2. Sadly today I was at my good friend's father's funeral. The service itself was great, and really gave him a good send-off. I felt so much for my friend though - she was very close to her dad and was absolutely heartbroken. She played a wee ditty on the fiddle during the service which was lovely.

    3. Received a freebie in the post of a Nikwax waterproofing wash

    4. Stopped off in a town on the way back from the funeral and went to Farm Foods, where I got 2 x muller rice for 10p each (I'm easily pleased haha) and Poundland where I got some good stocks of several things

Sorry to hear your DM didn't get her new lungs VJsmum, it's such a shame that not enough people carrying donor cards :(
susyrosy well done for finding some pleasures in what must be a very difficult time for you.
MandM sounds like you really impressed the uni interviewer. Good luck, Bath would be a beautiful place to work

    1. woke at 7.30 and started on the downstairs, looked a lot better, briefly

    2. Postie brought my new television stand. Clean lounge soon covered in packing materials

    3. Another postie brought almost the last of the Christmas presents, just a couple more to arrive now and we're home and dry

    4. Yet another postie (are they a bit overstaffed just now? They'll be working flat out next week!) brought me some cards, one with a very useful cheque inside :D

    5. Good news from my friend whose new lungs seem to be working as they should, and he's sitting up as cheerful and chatty as ever

    6. nsd/npd

    7. Kitchen floor has just had a good wash, and I had a good workout on hands and knees :D

    8. Rotten weather all around us, filled a couple of flasks 'just in case' but so far we still have power, unlike some unlucky areas

    9. Watched Money. Was surprised to hear the average wage is now £40k, was horrified to hear that family of 3 spent £500 on food a month, excluding 3/4 take aways a week! I live on that for everything and manage very well, with many thanks to MSE :)

    Sweet dreams :)

    Morning

Kittikins - Hope you feel better NOW

    Pleasures for yesterday;
    1. Christmas presents that need to be posted all wrapped, parceled up and address labels on and taken to the post office, had enough stamps from when I used to do the postal survey to cover costs:money:
    2. Little minature bottle of whisky arriving in the post, added to OH's presents
    3. LSD only spent 4p as when popped into Waitrose for bread and milk used a voucher and some Luncheon Vouchers. The man behind me in the queue was very impressed.
    4. Finishing some audit reports at work that I have been putting off for ages. Once started had them both finished within the hour.
    5. Sausage and Pasta soup for dinner using RTC sausages and value pasta. Very cheap, filling and tasty dinner.

Hugs to all who need them

Hello all, I'm feeling like me again :):):):):)

    1. My first blessing is feeling better after 2 horrible days, I'm a little achy but nothing like I was, hoorah!

    2. Filled the car up with petrol using my 1p off per litre credit card at A'$da, still horrendously expensive, but better than it would have been...

    3. Not particularly OS, but bought OH some coke on a special offer

    4. Managed to connect, sadly by email only, with a dear friend whose mother has just died. I know from another friend when the mass is, but am not sure of the etiquette. The friend replied on her email that if she doesn't speak to me before, to have a good Christmas, but I was hoping to go to the service to pay my respects to a lovely lady. I think I just need to call her tonight or tomorrow (when I've hopefully found someone to have DD for me for the day as the funeral is a long way away), to say that I'd like to go, or maybe they want it close family and friends only. I'm not sure what to do.......

    5. Went over to a lovely friend's after school for an impromptu cup of tea and catch up whilst 3 girls ran around like, well, 3 young girls I guess :) I invited her to mine but hers was closer (and warmer, lol).

    6. Received the valuation report for the dream house and everything is okay, hoorah, another step closer!

    7. Also received the M&$ vouchers I ordered using my employee reward points, £40 handily in £10 vouchers, so I won't be as tempted to spend too much in one go!!

    8. I had a great result when I called BT to check if I will be able to keep my existing phone number when we move. We can, and I have also downgraded my broadband service to the cheapest as I've been paying for 40gb download limit but only using 7gb a month (I had to ask the man to explain what it all meant!). Hoorah, to saving nearly £10/month :)

    9. Currently cooking a scrummy dinner for me and DD whilst running her a nice warm bath. I can't wait for the end of term, she's looking exhausted, and I'm off work too :)

Next time, threaten to twitch/sedate OH to "clip" him, if he doesn't keep still :D:D Yes, there is something satisfying about clipping horses (but not about the bits of hair that seem to end up all about one's person afterwards!!)

millie -your wish is my command ....Funny, as I remember a racehorse that was twitched and sedated prior to being clipped . She still managed to deposit my colleague and I over the stable door when the clippers were just turned on , we were not even near her :rotfl:

sparrer - re the money programme last night . I fell asleep but was shocked at the amount that was spent on groceries tbh. However, superscrimpers Christmas is on tonight :)

    5 for today

    1. The first day of my two day site visit. Lovely visit -the Provider is truly outstanding . Looking forward to going back tomorrow. I do prefer being out of the office. I am more confident when I am working autonomously.

2.Maggie hen apparently less wobbly - my Mum was on chicken patrol today.

    3. My morning physio exercises really help my back when I am on a site visit.I can think clearly when I am pain free and get more done :D

4.About to have a not very OS curry. OH has sold his truck and the money has been transferred in to his account. Good- he can pay me back the £500 I lent him:)

    5. Only a week to go and I will be on annual leave:) I will then begin to think about our Christmas arrangements .

    Have a good evening all
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A

Chicken - thanks to having to attend a meeting this evening, shopping with DD tomorrow and lunch with friends on Friday I shan't get to see it. Oh I wish I knew how to use the video recorder that's been sitting under my television for the last 8 years! All I know is I have to dust it.

    Ocassionally:rotfl:

Back later with my 5 :)

    Evening all.

sparrer - you should be able to pick the programme up over the internet - most channels are really good at putting stuff on their websites not long after it's been on. If you let me know what channel the programme's on (I've never watched it myself) I'll keep an eye out if you like, and send you a link when it appears.

    Kittikins - I'm glad you're feeling brighter.

Tealady - your sausage and pasta soup sounds lovely. I've been struggling a bit for inspiration for meals recently, and I think you've just provided some. :T

    1) Received a very nice Christmas card from some colleagues in another department. My job causes them a lot of hassle so I would forgive them for hating me, but instead they get me a card. :o

    2) Thanks to a note in this week's MSE email I've located presents for my DM and DGM, neither of whom I knew what to get - thanks Martin and team! :T

    3) Finally tracked down a replacement for my faulty scented candle: it seems everyone wants them at SO price and they've been sold out for weeks in every shop that sells them. Thanks to my voucher, I got mine for nothing. :money:

    4) I've done more than 400 words of essay tonight. :j (I confess that I'm not actually that bothered about it being a very good essay, as long as it's a finished essay! :o)

    5) I've found the episode of Victorian Farm Christmas that I missed* is on iplayer, so I'll curl up with that this evening.

    * I've actually seen them all before, but they're nice festive viewing. :xmassmile

    Have a pleasant evening, all.
Back after a very long break!

:D Oldie used to be a little madam to clip- you had approx 30 min of her being just about ok, then she would get bored and all hell would break loose!! Ended up with some rather interesting "creations" and a wonder we didn't get laughed off the hunting field :D We used to shovel ACP down her neck, but she used to fight it like hell- still needs enough sedalin to knock out an elephant to have her teeth done!
And Good to hear that Maggie is still fighting xx

Bit nippy here tonight!! I was very tempted to buy one of those skanket things yesterday, but a little worried that I would look so glam, Oh wouldn't be able to keep his hands off me....not!!

Mine for today, let's see if I can get to 5!

    1. Woke up early and had the house to myself again, caught up with some bits n bobs
    2. Not very OS, considering it will involve spending ££££ on a holiday, but my passport is en route, so we may be able to ski over new year. Huzzah!
    3. Picked up a few bargain bits from Asda for our office lunch tomorrow, incl some mull(er)ed wine (see a theme here?!?) for £2.50 and some (more) german gingerbread biccies for 50p/pack. Paper plates from £land and we are good to go!! Everyone is bringing something along, so will be much cheaper than the £20+ planned meal
    4. Can't think of any more, but animals are all fine and dandy, OH is snuggled next to me and the parentals have offered to pay for my ski pass, should we go skiing because I am a fab daughter, apparently. All bon!!

    4.Nice walk with OH (oh...the hills :( )
    5.DD1 cooked tea.

    Evening

    Pleasures for today,
    1. Wine and cheese at work for someone moving back to Paris then HM apple pie for someone's birthday and we have a box of expensive doughnuts for tomorrow that a supplier brought in.
    2. Decided to give my brothers children Love2shop vouchers for christmas rather than cash. As there is 4 of them this proved quite a saving as the vouchers are from surveys :money:
    3. Keeping fingers crossed for my niece who is up for a young business person award tonight. She is very hard working and full of ideas to make money so hoping she wins.
    4. My best friend from school who I really must call dropped in to see my parents yesterday. They were very pleased to see her as she is extremely busy at the moment and good to her all her news even if it was second hand.
    5. Yummy dinner of RTC rump steak in a peppercorn and white wine sauce with rice. Used a cheap sachet of pepper sauce and mixed it with wine instead of milk as OH won't touch anything milky. Everyone cleared their plates so taking that as a good sign.

Hugs to all who need them
