Ladyhawk - Glad to hear your friend's DD is OK, how very scary for her. Hope they catch the culprit (want to use a stronger word her but will resist)0
-
Second was that one of my friends daughter was the focus of what we think may have been an attempted abduction this afternoon. She was followed by a strange man who was trying to convince her to get in his car. Luckily she was near home and even luckier she managed to call her dad who was home early from a meeting who rescued her. All very frightening for the poor lass. Anyway, apparently they are speaking to police at the moment.
L
Ladyhawk- how awful- poor girl, there are some seriously sick people about . Glad the girl was ok xx
a few for today
1. At my work desk before 7.30am to finish a report, the off to a Provider at 9am - too busy to take a break finished at 5.30pm. But my back survived !
2. Needed to feed back some practice issues to the Provider - overall the service is very good but there were a few important issues that need addressing. They took it well.
3. Quick pizza for tea - running the freezers down for Christmas.
4. Day off tomorrow !
Have a good evening all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Evening all!
Ladyhawk- how terrifying for the girlAnd awful to think that there are such people out there. I hope the police catch him!
My five for today
1. Lie in til 7.40 - woke up at 7ish and stayed dozing, all snuggled under my winter duvet for a while...bliss
2. Wore my one and only partyish dress for work- with spotty tights. Abandoned the idea of party shoes, as they were crippling me before I'd left the house. Felt glam-ish (this is the girl who prefers to live in jodhpurs most of the time...)
3. Bring and share party lunch at work and everyone had gone to trouble to bring something nice. One guy made pakora and they were amazing!! Microwave mulled wine was a success too!
4. Got 2 x xmas pressies off colleagues
5. Was invited out tonight to my old floor's party, but I declined as have a date with OH and The Big Bang Theory. Am already in PJs. It's way too cold out there and someone mentioned snow :shudder:
oh and 6. My passport has arrived, so looks like we might just be seeing in the new year at the top of a mountain...yay!!!
Hugs to anyone in need, or anyone who just feels like a hug xx0 -
Ladyhawk - hope the nasty man is caught asap, your poor friend's DD
*shudder*
1. After worrying a bit overnight about what the estate agent/solicitor had wanted as I missed their calls yesterday, both turned out to be innocuous - EA - my buyers want to do a proper survey (they've had the valuation), and solicitor - I won't have access over the driveway beside the house, the EAs got it wrong, there's nothing on the deeds to indicate I can use it. Fine by me. Phew!
2. I accosted a work colleague and have asked him if he might be able to try and fix my personal laptop - yay, he's going to take a look in the new year
3. Bought the last of my brother's Christmas presents - EVERYTHING IS DONE NOW, DD would also like a diary, but as she's got lots and lots of presents coming from all sides (hmm, actually her wastrel father hasn't been in touch for months, maybe I could text him (yuk) and tell him to buy her one), I've told her that she may need to save up her pocket money for it.....she likes saving up
4. Very proud of myself for this one: my kitchen light fitting stopped working last night and with DD's help, I managed to work out what was wrong and replace the dimmer light switch with a new one. Next stop...rewiring the new house?!? ha ha ha.........
5. I've taken out money for a 'wild night out' with some girly chums tonight but it sounds like we're going to drink wine around one of their houses instead, so I am going to pay for a babysitter, but probably won't be spending much more than that. Didn't think it right to ask OH to babysit for the 12th week in a row!
6. Found over £10 in coins in the understairs cupboard, the best benefit so far of starting to declutter for the big move, so today's shopping has been free, hoorah!
7. DD and I have found a play of "The Phoenix and the Carpet" on at a local theatre on Saturday - just need OH to call me back so I know whether he'd like to come as well, don't want to assume that he won't, he may be a closet E. Nesbit fan - I'm a big fan
8. Choccies and choccy biccies in the office today.....
9. It was nice to have been missed by my colleagues, and even nicer, I was apparently praised in a worldwide team phone videoconference that I didn't get to yesterday for being so helpful, friendly, knowledgeable etc etc etc
10. The sun is over the yardarm so I'm naughtily having a 'grown-up' drink!
11. I got to read and enjoy DD's termly school topic book this morning and was so proud of all she's accomplished this term. Every term it kind of gets harder to write the parental comment without being too 'gushy'
12. Early pay day tomorrow, and this year I am NOT going to spend it all by the end of December and then struggle for the rest of the YEAR to catch up.......I've written my 'January' budget to start tomorrow.
Darn it, we're due some snow overnight (better not settle), I'd better find my hiking poles and walking boots. I hate snow and think I'm taking OH to physio tomorrow morning so will need to leave the house0 -
Kittikins: I read the 'Phoenix & the carpet' as a child so many years ago and loved it! Enjoy the play!
Ladyhawk:nice to know you're back safely, hope your friends daughter isn't too traumatised & that she has enough information to help police.
Just to share, it's to be a hot one today, but it's the most beautiful sunrise and the mosaic tiled ,large Christmas lantern I have is scattering light all round my room as the sun shines on it! Who needs fairy lights?
Of to work soon....hurrah for Friday!0 -
Mhagster - I don't think i'll ever get used to you being at the opposite end of the day and the opposite season to us.
Mine for today
1. had a soak in the bath after everyone had left for the day - bliss
2. Bought DD and DS a pass to the theme park (after hanging on phone). An unexpected pressie for them - I hope they'll be thrilled
3. Slow cooked beef in guinness for tea - yum
4.DD won the "oscar" for her performance in the drama group's latest production :T - about bloody time too!
5. Had some fun buying little "lucky dip" pressies for xmas day and boxing day - everything less than a pound, much more fun than all the expensive stuff.
Nearly done - stay warm allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Broomstick - am so jealous you've had snow! Normally it has snowed here by now, but not yet, well not *really*
Millie2008 - I got a slanket for my birthday! They are soo unattractive, but my OH bought it for me so....;)
Ladyhawk - OMG!! That is so scary! Hope he is caught!
It's been a fairly quiet day for me. I work from home so my days tend to be quite similar and I have to find the pleasure in the small things so....
1. 4th NSD in a row
2. Got out for a lunchtime run in the winter sun and managed some good thinking
3. Busy making budget and life plans today
4. Some nice emails from a good friend
5. A big mug of mulled wine when I finished work. Christmas nectar!0 -
Evening
Pleasures for today,
1. Crispy Kreme doughnut at work that a supplier brought in yesterday
2. Another supplier gave us a lovely John Lewis hamper so we are raffling it for the NSPCC. So far have raised about £80 and hope to sell a few more tickets over the next few days.
3. Lasagne for lunch that was left over from a meeting yesterday and I put some in the fridge for today, very yummy.
4. Lift home from someone in the office as they were passing near my house
5. One of my friends had the great news that her mum got the all clear today from some tests she has been having for bowel cancer.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Ninnoodle - that's not my kitty, sadly, just a little sweetie who I found online. I foster homeless cats and my current furbaby, Tinker, is purring on my lap as I type. She's black and white, has only three legs, and possesses cattitude in abundance.
Ladyhawk - thank God your friend's daughter is safe.
My pleasures for today:
1. It's the start of a three day weekend for me!
2. Coming home to a hot meal as soon as I got in, thanks to my wonderful slow cooker.
3. Getting praise for two pieces of work I'd done.
4. Another no spend day.
5. Cuddles with Tinker Puss. I'm going to forget all about the nip she's just given me!
6. Editing another chapter of my novel.
7. Managing half an hour of yoga this morning and quite enjoying it.
8. Some lovely Christmas cards waiting for me when I got home.
9. Getting a phone call from a friend and arranging to meet for Sunday lunch. Yup, more budget-blowing meals out...
10. Feeling good all day. I'm usually a happy bunny, though, so that's not unusual.Life is not a dress rehearsal.0 -
Hello!!
My 5 for today:
1. Fun Christmas lunch with friends, they are really good company, I'm very fortunate.
2. Lidl duck now in my freezer, £2 cheaper than the one I'd ordered from sainsburys and 0.4kg heavier!
3. Looking forward to my warm electric blanket in a mo and listening to the rain lashing down outside.
4. Enjoyed superscrimpers last night (hope that's not cheating but still laughing at a post on the thread which said the home-made cards looked like ransom notes!!).
5. Got the rest of the week off, the present mountain and wrapping paper are calling to me ....
Night all x£2 savers club no.107 :j £36 so far.0
