Morning all!
Not posted for ages, combination of oh not starting work till 10am now and dd4 needing to be fed, changed and cuddled - okay it's the cuddling that takes up most of my time lol! Anyway am going to attempt to get back on laptop early-ish in the mornings, as I love this thread, and the OS daily!
My five for today:
1. dd4 waking up late, giggling a lot, eating her brekkie, having her milk and going back off for a snooze! She was up late yesterday, so I was a bit worried it would throw her out, but she seems quite chilled about it all!
2. dd1 texting me about karma biting someone on the bottom, made me giggle, even though karma will prob now come and get me for laughing!
3. Water co taking £800 instead of £80 from my account, they are going to refund the money, but meanwhile it stops me buying 'little extra' pressies! Had to look quite hard to find a bright side to that one lol! But cupboards and freezers are full, we do have other money, it will be refunded, and we are warm and have a home, as well as each other
4. ds is off to college in a bit, oh is working (usually he's off on a Tuesday until 5pm), so I will have the house to myself and can get on with stuff without anyone getting in my way or asking what I'm doing!
5. Sun is shining, and I found the daff bulbs I bought, for some reason I'd left them in the boot of the car, so hopefully I'll get them planted out when dd4 has her afternoon nap, and they will then be a spring pleasure as well!
Hope everyone has a lovely day, going to have a catch up in a mo with a coffee xxxGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Will do 5 for today while I can (borrowing mum's laptop).
1) Little bit of snow this morning. :-) We had a flutter yesterday but it melted when it hit the ground.
2) Letter from my aunty in the US and a cheque for sons and I for Christmas.
3) Rather a lovely email from MrB. Lots to think about there.
4) Have been clothes shopping! This is something I NEVER do. I wear jeans, my brown cords (on my person now) and a selection of T shirts. I have some trainers and a pair of brown boots and haven't owned a pair of shoes in year. BUT......... I have a job interview tomorrow so I had to go into town and buy a coat (didn't own one, only a plastic one for walking!) and a pair of black shoes. It wasn't as painful as I had thought and Clarks had a sale on. I really like the coat, it's from Next.
5) Also got a lampshade for my room - £1.99 from Oxfam.
6) Am at mum and dad's now and mum is playing piano duets with her duet partner (Shirley). Mum has told me before that Shirley is a "bit of a thumper" so I am listening in and giggling a bit. :-D Katachurian (spelling?) at the moment.
7) Got house reasonably tidy and changed my bed earlier and am on the 3rd load of washing....0 -
Hello Ladies,
Hope you are all doing well and the poorlies are on the mend.
Just back from a diving weekend with some school friends... it was the first time that I have scuba dived properly and WOW it was pretty amazing (except for the seasickness... bleugh!!!). Sadly I only have a couple more days until I have to get on the plane to head back to chilly UK
1) Popped into the shops with my mum to pick up some medication for me (half the price of UK)
2) Yummy lunch of fresh breads, cheese, salads... my favourite
3) mid morning nap
4) my dad has just poured me a glass of wine
5) its so hot and sunny!!
Night night
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
:wavey: again Ladyhawk! Sounds like you are having an amazing time
Frith- you sound brighter
Freeeeeezing here today. I am cold-intolerant at the best of times (sit shivering in a hoodie on the beach when it is high 20s!)
Mine for today
1. Exam I was running this morning went well- I always feel a bit responsible, as I put the paper together, check it, sign it off, etc etc
2. Refused to buy cups of expensive tea, so I took my travel mug with me - it has owls on (thanks, paperchase) and always cheers me up and it has paid for itself, many times over!
3. Reverbed 2p- but it was covered in mud!
4. Cuddles with horse- she hardly gets a mention on here, but she is such a sweetie, even if she is a very expensive field ornament!
5. Sold a bracelet today to a colleague, in aid of the charity that my friend does fundraising for
Hugs to anyone in need xx0 -
4. OH made tea from recipes in the Hugh FW book of roasted leeks, garlic flatbreads, beetroot and walnut hummus and cannelloni pate. Bee-autiful!!
That sounds absolutely fantastic, ninnoodle! Can I come to tea one day?!
Mummysaver, welcome back! Curry on Saturday!
Frith, glad things are looking better with Mr B.
What can I come up with for today?
1. Yummy savoury rice for evening meal.
2. Christmas card from a friend I've not seen for ages.
3. Editing another two chapters of my novel and enjoying every minute of doing it.
4. Difficult boss in a good mood today :T.
5. Keeping my promise to myself and doing a yoga and meditation session this morning. I am appalled  at how incredibly stiff my legs are following knee surgery a few years ago. I used to be able to bend myself into all sorts of shapes (there's an image for you all :rotfl:) and now I can't. But I will!
6. Enjoying more of my homemade bread and yoghurt.
7. Looking of piccies of my friend's gorgeous cats. As if you couldn't tell from my avatar, I like cats. A lot.
8. Finishing reading one of the novels I got from the library on Saturday.
9. A no spend day!
10. Feeling good all day!Life is not a dress rehearsal.0 -
Evening all. It is freezing here too, but I am amazed at the power of the slanket!
No hot water bottles yet! Millie2008 - I too am highly cold intolerant!
Frith - glad things are looking up!
FairyPrincessK - loooove baking too. Am trying to perfect my scones but they always seem to go tall and flop over / are raw in the middle / are burnt. But so much fun.
1. Me and OH went to see a fertility consultant today at the hospital. We have been trying for a baby for over 3 years and after investigations, I was recently told I won't be able to conceive naturally and that IVF is my only hope. We have put ourselves on the NHS waiting list which is 2 yearsBy that time my chances will have halved again and I will be too old for a second chance, so we will look into doing it privately, which means just so much money. So, here's hoping. At least we are now on the waiting list, and I am booked in for an operation in Feb to help my chances of conceiving with IVF.
2. A good friend emailed me to plan a Christmas drinkie together
3. Got some good cleaning done today. I love the Flylady thread - it really has helped me and my house no end. I love cleaning now. I cannot believe I look forward to work finishing so I can do the cleaning!! That so never used to happen.
4. I got out of a reaaaaaally boring workshop I was asked to go to in London next week. I was dreading it, but my boss thought it wouldn't be the best use of my time. :j
5. A friend texted me to say sorry she had forgotten about the £25 she owed me. I had forgotten too but it will come in handy.0 -

Getting quite cold now, and I don't like it
. Postie said there was almost a frost, if it keeps on like this we'll have one in a couple of days and I'll be like the robin in his barn!
Hi Ladyhawk, lovely to hear from you. I've always wanted to scuba dive but held back a bit by not being able to swimEnjoy your last few days with your family and we'll 'see' you when you get back to UK
FairyPrincessK I though it was about time I read a few favourite classics again and am having a wonderful time losing myself in them. Your OH's present sounds intriguing, can't wait to find out what it is - after he gets it, of course!
1. Up early to do an hour pulm exercise, chest infection not shifting so doing what I can and hoping I don't have to get any more anti-b's
2. Cleaned all the windows, the rooms suddenly seem a lot lighter
3. Took down, washed, dried outside, ironed and replaced the net curtains
4. I've lost the key to my shed so my kind neighbour cut the padlock off with bolt croppers, they went through like butter  , so will have to look for a stronger one.
5. Only had the heating on for 1 1/2 hours hours this morning and 2 hours this evening, all that hard work kept the body temp well up
slipping in a cheeky 6 - arranged with a friend to have a meal out before Christmas, then arranged similar with another friend, then arranged a tea with yet another, so lots to look forward to
sweet dreams0 -

5 for today
1. Busy day at work - lengthy case conference.
2. Got back home and needed to throw some casual clothes on and then go out straight away . OH put the hens away - I still had to "check" they were ok and found it necessary to do a head count- twice before I went out:o
3. Met my ex work colleagues and had a nice meal . It was lovely to see them and I miss them , but I also love my current work colleagues.
4. Very tired now , can't think of another - up the wooden hill ...
night all xx:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Hugs ninnoodle x
Frith - glad things are on the up for you, and good luck with your interview tomorrow x
sfo - how lovely to be able to report that you've been feeling good all day, I love days like that, wish every day was like that for us all!
1. DD and I woke up at the prescribed hour and had tons and tons of cuddles
2. She's being sooo cute - every year, I get together freebies and little cheap presents and make DD an advent calendar instead of a choccy one. This year, she's decided that I deserve one too, so a few days in, has started making me "vouters" (vouchers) for presents - I've got a £20 one for cuddles in my bed and a £30 one for a "masarge" (massage) :0) I'm such a lucky mummy, can't wait to see what I'm given tomorrow!
3. Mortgage application went through - phew!
4. Had a great volunteer lesson today, oh they're always great, but this one was particularly lovely
5. DD and I decorated h-m cakes for our Rainbows party and they went down really well (they are delicious even if I say so myself!)
6. The Rainbows party was brilliant, and me and the other leaders were very grateful to receive some lovely presents from girls and their parents.
7. Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo looking forward to seeing OH tomorrow:)
8. Nice low spend day, resisted temptations, just bought fruit and water
8. DD's CD arrived, nice and quickly, good old Amaz0n- I'm feeling very old all of a sudden, and quite annoyed as this CD is advertised heavily on a children's TV channel, but on listening to it, oh my goodness it's very 'adult' in theme. I'm hoping DD will forget about it soon, I'm not going to talk about it, but I did say I didn't like a few songs as they were too grown up for 6 year olds
9. Very slushy texts from OH
10. Received a Christmas card from a lovely friend at work0
