Good evening all !
Suzyrozy - this thread is great when things aren't going so well and you struggle to think of 5 pleasures. Everyone is so supportive sharing highs with the lows.
kittikins - a diet so near to Christmas , blow that !:D
5 for today
1. A lie in for me- let the hens out at 7am. I love being in the garden when it it so peaceful and still , until nine hens throw themselves down their ladder like Keystone cops, for their breakfast .Job done, so tootled off back to bed:D
2.Coloured my hair - I hate waiting around for an hour for it to "take". I like the colour though and it shouldn't need doing until next year. I only use half of the mixture each time as I have very short hair and would consider it a waste to put the whole lot on. Saves a lot of cash as well
3.Saw my brother and his wife and had a chat about Christmas as we have a huge family with lots of children etc. I don't have children and I buy for my nephews , nieces and great nephews and get a token present for my brother and sisters as it is just too expensive. My brother said that we should all sit down and chat about it as we are all of the same opinion i.e don't bother about buying the adults gifts just the children, but to agree on it. I have been doing this anyway for years
4. Macaroni cheese for tea.
5.Henry hen followed me up the garden in the darkness unusual for a hen to do so in the pitch black.. when her pals had been tucked up in bed for the last half an hour.
Have a good evening all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Frith - big hugs - hope you manage to sort things out.
susyrosy - this thread really helps me realise how good things are when they don't seem it by thinking of good things every day.
my 5 for yesterday:
1. Met a friend for great hilly run - lovely sunny day and fabulous views
2. Went shopping and got some bargains from Home Bargains and Lidl
3. Came home and OH had decided to take me out for a birthday supper
4. We went out to really nice pub. Prices seem to have doubled since last time I was there, but it was lovely all the same!
5. OH and I managed to actually sit and have a conversation! Not something we do too often!
Today:
1. OH and I decided to get up early, walk from the house across the mountain at the back of the house, have lunch at the country hotel the other side of the mountain and come back again
2. Beautiful, freezing cold but sunny day, with fantastic views across to the Cairngorms. Came back in the dark with head torches on!
3. Sat and had a flask of tea and a couple came along with 2 really cute dogs, one of which was a very excited puppy. She gave us a good giggle.
4. Country house hotel was 10 times more upmarket than we realised. We only popped in for a cuppie and toastie, but ended up having a 3 course fine dining experience! It is my birthday weekend though so was (another) treat. What a beautiful hotel! But, won't be back visiting in a hurry at those prices, sigh...
5. Cosied up with log fire, hot water bottles, wine and cats. Bliss
Have a great evening.0 -

Well what a day. Toddler son went to hospital. He woke up with a raging temperature and promptly threw up all over hubby. After a while in a and e they discovered he has a water infection and the rash is caused by calpol. Poor man
he is fast asleep now with his brother though. Can't help but feel guilty though .
1) getting to the bottom of toddler sons illness.
2) fish and chips with the hubby.0 -
Just thought I'd post a few random pleasures from this weekend:
1. Watching the Christmas lights being turned on in a nearby village, then being invited back for tea at a friend's house.
2. Decorating our own Christmas tree and deciding not to buy any new decorations or lights this year.
3. Having a bit of a duvet day.
4. The rain has stopped.
5. There's still a bit of the evening left before the working week starts.

Ninnoodle- Happy Birthday for tomorrow!!! Hope you have enjoyed your weekend- 3 day birthdays are the bestWell what a day. Toddler son went to hospital. He woke up with a raging temperature and promptly threw up all over hubby. After a while in a and e they discovered he has a water infection and the rash is caused by calpol. Poor man

Oh sweetieYou are having such a tough time :cuddle: I hope that now they have diagnosed and are treating his UTI, that he will be feeling better v v soon. Please, please don't feel guilty, you sound like an amazing Mum and at that age, they can't articulate how they feel. You have done everything possible (and then some) to get to the bottom of it. So stop beating yourself up :cuddle:
So repeat to self x 100 "I am a fab mum". And try to get some sleep tonight, because he will be boinging around in no time now -and you will be knackered!! Big hugs xx0 -
(((Riversong and babes))) wishing everything well asap, don't berate yourself cos you couldn't foresee this. Will say one for you all tonight xx
Frith hope you get soerted out soon.
Kittikins/CCP I remember my first record, ashamed to say it was a 45rpm vinyl of Travellin' Light by Cliff Richard :doh:with Dynamite on the B side. I played it on my Dansette Major, the posh red/beige one with auto-change. Wish I still had it, it's be worth a lot of money these days - the record player, not the vinyl.
1. Made a start on the Christmas cards, cutting right back this year as it usually gets out of hand, so saving on trees and stamps
2. Out to a carvery lunch with friends - they insisted on paying, proving there is such a thing as a free lunch
3. On to a local mill which is always dressed as a Winter village for Christmas, and you can buy wonderful old fashioned wind-up toys, stocking fillers etc. I bought a gold butterfly for my enormous plant which is standing in for a tree this year. Spendthrift!
4. I got to sit of Father Christmas's lap:o:o. He asked what I wanted for Christmas, I told him someone who can bring me as many presents as he has, but preferably younger. His son, for instance?
5. Just heard from a friend who lives in a cottage on the Yorkshire moors that it's snowing there. Meanwhile I'm sitting snug as a bug in my fleecy jimmies and fluffy robe thanking the powers that be that it's too mild to snow here. Yet....
Sweet dreams0 -
Tee hee Sparrer, my first record was "Bright Eyes" for my 8th birthday from my parents, loved it soooooooooo much
The first album I remember buying is Madness, but can't remember which one. DD has gone for "Pop Party 9", which she's going to hate me for letting her have it when she's older and wants to appear 'cool' to her friends, but she is really excited and I know when it comes she's going to play it to death, oh and watch the DVD that comes with it as well!
Oh well, at least she'll know some of the tunes at Friday's infants discoMy little baby girl......thank goodness, even with all this pop music stuff, she still likes mummy cuddles more than anything else
Oooh, I've just remembered another pleasure - DD got to meet Father Christmas this afternoon and was given a choccy bar for free0 -
I can’t find five for this weekend, my gorgeous husband had thunderclap head pain, sudden totally incapacitating, I’ve spoken to NHS direct and he’s keeping painkillers down and with it, I have been told to see how it goes for a few days but if he doesn’t improve they start looking at some very serious conditions which has literally scared us to the core. So in short we have been scared silly all weekend and well still am. So I may keep quiet from for little bit.0
