Good evening all!
Crikey there is a lot going on with us all !!
ninnoodle - have a birthday week. I did once with an eccentric bf many years ago, he was a bit quirky like that. Hope you had a lovely day xx I am dying to ask if you got a pony....
mhagster - you seem to have a bit of a theme with liquid in the mhagster home! How awful ! What with the milk and now the water - I know that sparrer will send you a tea bag and some sugar to make use of the spillages;) Joking apart I would be hopeless in this situation .
FairyPrincessK- oooh broccoli and stilton soup ....more food pornography, there is a lot of it about at the moment.
pk and riversong I hope things are better on the health front in your respective households xx
frith- be strong xx don't doubt yourself or wait around for scraps of affection. You have been there before- you deserve a lot more ((hugs)).
5 for today
1.Seriously stressy day at work. My boss said it took him two hours to read through one of my reports . It was only 16 pages long so I am unsure what he was going on about. Still after he had corrected my punctuation ( why didn't he rewrite the bliddy thing if it took him two hours!!) I banged it out and will wait for the snotty responses to come pouring in:rotfl:
2.A meeting was cancelled that I was not quite prepared for. I was praying that it would be
3. Hens were in but came out when I got home as they heard my car pull up .This always makes me smile
4. Rice, prawn and chestnut mushroom stir fry . One of Jamies - not that impressed tbh - it was quick and easy though.
5.Looking forward to an early night as I am meeting my ex work colleagues tomorrow evening for a meal almost straight after work. Will be talking chicken arrangements as I am providing B & B accommodation for one of the persons hens over Christmas whilst she has a well earned break. It is her first Christmas without her Mum who recently passed away:(
Huigs to many of you tonight !! xx:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Happy birthday, ninnoodle! Yours is another name I love, like Chickenopolis! Both roll off the tongue really well, especially after a glass of red wine! And, by sheer coincidence, I have just finished one of those...
Purple Kitten, thinking of you x
I admit to my first record being "Obladeeoblada" or however it's spelled by the Marmalade - at a cost of six shillings and six pence. I cringe at the thought now...
Mine for today!
1. Aforementioned glass of red wine!
2. Enjoying a spoonful of the spicy garlic pickle I bought yesterday.
3. Meeting with client at 5pm being over by 4.59pm - thanks to him arriving early :-)
4. Calling my letting agents, with whom I've been having some issues, and remaining calm and polite.
5. Getting an extra day's work this week.
6. Managing to edit two chapters of my novel today. It doesn't feel like work as I enjoy it so much.
7. Starting work an hour later today - part of my hours being reduced, but it gave me time for a proper lunch.
8. Getting a nice comment on Facebook from a friend.
9. Getting a nice email about a short story I wrote a while ago.
10. Actually doing the exercise and housework that I'd committed myself to doing. Left to my own devices, I'd be a couch potato and I loathe housework, so although neither was a pleasure, I felt very virtuous.
Off to do some reading. Night all!Life is not a dress rehearsal.0 -
Riversong - How are your babas today?
ninnoodle - Happy Birthday (again)!!!
mhagster - Oh No, what a nightmare!!
Chicken - I want to kidnap your hens, they sound amazing- sorry that work has been stressy :cuddle:
Brrrr, it's cold out now. My joints have been v inflammed today as well, meh- nothing to do with the cold tho! Thankfully, I am seeing my new consultant next week and he is going to give me a magic pill....actually he probably won't but here's hoping!!
Mine for today
1 I've finished my marking!!! Well I might have one exam script and a stray essay to mark before xmas, but that is it!!! Sooooooo happy!
2. Last tutorial of the year with my first years and we raided my Quality Street supply (thankyou Tesco, 3.99). Then, about 30 seconds after they'd gone, one of the boys returned, red faced with a box of chocolates for me for xmas. I guess he didn't want to give them in front of his mates. I don't ever expect anything and it is rare that we get anything like that, but lovely when it happens
3. I made some cute button rings last night (prior to a superglue-finger interface incident) and wore one today and everyone was admiring it. Only cost pence to make!
4. Nice chat with my colleague's wife, who had popped to see him for lunch. I'd never met her before- lovely lady
5. Mooch in town tonight with OH. A couple more xmas pressies sorted
6. Just pinched OH's green haribo bears!!! The green ones are the bestest!!
-1. OH pranged his car (technically my car, 30th birthday pressie to myself) by being careless in a carpark- he scraped a bollard. Bit gutted. Naturally I [STRIKE]ranted and raved and dragged up every driving incident from the past 10 years[/STRIKE] told him that it didn't matter, it was only a car
Hugs to anyone in need xx0 -
Evening
Pleasures for today;
1. DD had her first mock exam today and is now a lot calmer. She was a stressy madam this morning but back on an even keel tonight, thank goodness.
2. Productive day at work getting some of the jobs I have been putting off either done or started.
3. The glasses that I had ordered for my friend J's leaving present arrived today. She had admired them in a local restaurant and we managed to find them on-line. Just need to wrap them for her now. I am so going to miss her not being in the office.
4. On line survey completed today so another voucher on it way to replace the one I spent yesterday
5. Chat with my friend on the phone and we are popping over to see them tomorrow for a good catch up.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
1. Lovely cuddles with DD at getting up time, we both felt we didn't have enough time, so have set the alarm for earlier tomorrow so we may get up to an entire hour of cuddles!!
2. Friend got DD a ticket to the school disco today as I couldn't be there at home-time
3. Another friend took DD to her house after school as DD's after school club was cancelled unexpectedly and I wasn't there!! Grrr........
4. Said friend invited us to stay for dinner, yay, and gave me vino, double yay
5. When I went into the office, a colleague had decorated my desk, complete with fairy lights. So cute, I may have to keep them up all year round!
6. Colleague's very sick wife is on the mend, so relieved
7. Low spend day
8. Went to the school I volunteer at to watch their nativity dress rehearsal, it was brilliant, and I cam away feeling very Christmassy
9. DD went to bed without too much grief tonight!
10. Nice chat with OH.....but he's feeling really rubbish so we didn't chat for longAt least it was lovely to talk rather than text.
11. Had bad news about my mortgage application but thankfully it's going to get sorted out a slightly different way - I hope.....
Right, bed beckons, if I'm going to get up early for all these cuddles!0 -
Another strange day, but here goes
1. SIL and kids left at 6.40 with amazinly little fuss
2. Walked into town to sort some finances
3. Xmas lunch with girlfriends - a very pricey pancake
4. Another friend came for dinner - haven't seen him for months and he's coming again tomorrow!
5. Being in bed with my lappy now.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
millie2008 - sorry to hear about your car. I would have been a bit gutted too.
savingforoz - thanks - it is sort of a nickname!
Chickenopolis - a pony?! I wish!
Frith - am thinking of you and hope you sort things out with MrB
VJsMum - hugs to you. Hope you feel better now.
Thanks everyone for your lovely birthday wishes! I have had a lovely day. The getting older thing isn't exactly a pleasure but I always try to take the day off work and please myself!
1. Drove to the nearest town and wandered round the charities. Tutting loudly at everything in the expensive one that thinks it's a designer shop because it sells Marks and Spencers clothes. If there is one thing that annoys me, it is overpriced charity shops. £11 for a well-worn, slightly stretched Zara jumper anyone? Rant over. I bought some nice pottery, a book and a nice blouse (none of them from the expensive shop)
2. Got some lovely presents from my OH, including a slanket (sooooo cosy and warm, soooo unglamourous), Hugh FW Veg book and a pink leather hip-flask. Delighted!!
3. Treated myself in town at the chocolate shop with a 'French chocolate' which is this yummy thick rich hot chocolate they do that you can eat with a spoon. Mmmmm!
4. OH made tea from recipes in the Hugh FW book of roasted leeks, garlic flatbreads, beetroot and walnut hummus and cannelloni pate. Bee-autiful!!
5. Lovely birthday messages, texts and phonecalls from family and friends0 -
Hugs to everyone who needs/wants
1. Set the alarm clock, got up early and attacked the lounge which looked like a bomb had hit it. Don't know how it gets so messy in such a short time, there's only me and the furry things
2. A friend came this afternoon, we put the world to rights over a cuppa and a choccie biscuit
3. Bought a compendium of George Eliot for £3!
4. Renewed my library books on line, saved time and petrol
5. The Great British Property Scandal. He's only got one family rehoused - so far - but that's four people who have the chance of a settled life. Overall a mixed reaction, a bit of sensationalism mixed with the reality of a disgraceful situation. Will definitely be watching again.
Sleep tight0 -
hello from soggyville! carpets are sodden, have had fans on all day & windows & doors open so hopefully air will dry it out....if not I'll be looking for a new carpet, landlord! More water at work, the dishwashed flooded....yikes!
1.Hurrah...all sopping towels, washed & dried & folded....just need to put them away
2.Nice drive to & from work....although do you ever wonder if you are driving an invisible car when idiots can't see you?
3.DS has applied for a part time job...hurrah, time he got off his backside!
4.Paperwork is sorted, just need to get a new filing system as soggy expanding files are in bin. Needed doing anyway!
5.No spend day, nearly need a new top up for phone but will eeeeeeeek it out by not phoning anyone in UK! DD2 has loads of internet left with her phone so I'm going to use it to watch Casualty .....uses lots of megabytes
Hope you all have a good day whatever you are up to!0 -
Ninnoodle, You sound like me! I'm constantly ranting about that charity shop that puts on airs!
Sparrer, I'm jealous of your compendium!
Mhagster, I read about your flood yesterday, that sounds really frustrating. But, a new filing system, a stack of freshly washed towels and you're on your way to making the most of it! I admire your ability to just go with it:)
1. My supplies for making OH's xmas pressie arrived and the ebay seller threw in a little extra. I can't wait to get started, and I can probably make a few other things over xmas with the little extra.
2. Was going to have a difficult email to write asking parents for money as they're helping fund my degree, but mum had emailed asking when I needed it. I always feel so guilty asking, and I feel like no matter how much I cut back I always seem to need it sooner than planned so its nice when she brings it up.
3.My work today consists of a little bit of essay marking and reading a chapter in a book I really like:) Its a long chapter, but with a cup of tea and a notebook it should go quickly since I've already read it and just need to go back through more carefully and make notes.
4. Planning to make some scones this afternoon. I really love cooking, and wish I was brilliant at it, and my scones are one of the few things that everyone really loves so it makes me feel good to be good at something...iykwim. Plus, warm scones!
5. Its 11:00 and I've already finished all of my unpleasant tasks for today.0
