My 5 pleasures from the last 24 hours:

    1. Sorting out my spice rack and another cupboard so that it looks a lot neater and there was room for our Christmas present...
    2. ...which was a Tassimo machine! Now, all we need to do is find where to get the pods from cheaply
    3. Making homemade pizza last night with some cocktail sausages left over from a party.
    4. Watching the last Dr. Who with David Tennant while sat on the sofa with DH. :)
    5. A nice early night.

Have a great day, everyone (((hugs))) to those in need or would like one. My cold is (I hope) on the way out! Just in time to go back to work - typical ;)

Trying for daily wins, and a little security in an insecure world.
  • 1. First 'back to normal' day since Christmas - dh taking children to the library shortly, I get an hour, sometimes two, of peace and quiet.

    2. Up early this morning so made pancakes for breakfast - surprised myself by getting enough for 6 of us, plus a few for the freezer, out of the leftover Yorkshire pudding batter from yesterday with a splash of milk to thin it out.

    3. The possibility of snow ... a tiny tiny amount sprinkled on cars when I got up this morning, and a sky that looks full of something (but, this is Cornwall, so the 'something' may well be rain:rolleyes:)

    4. My dad brought over some wood yesterday, so we might manage to make it until the 16th (when our 'big' log delivery is due) without buying logs in those silly small bags.

    5. One of the children just knocked dh's paperwork box to the floor, so he has been forced to clear it out, meaning that I no longer have to look at it & wonder if there's anything important lost in its depths:rotfl:

Not posted on this thread for a while...:hello:

    1. I slept in until 10.15am..I must have been knackered.

    2. Managed to get all the washing done and dried out on the line.

    3. Left over gammon and eggs for lunch. Yum.

    4. Watching re-runs of Dr Who this afternoon.

    5. The smell of multigrain bread wafting through the house from the breadmaker in the kitchen and a pot of turkey and vegetable soup on the hob, to go with it.
    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

;) Felines are my favourite ;)

Ollie- thanks for the welcome :)

BH and I were up at 6am with our dog - she was having a stroke and we had to dress quickly and get her to the vet. :( She's nearly 16, blind and deaf so these things are to be expected but never easy . . .

I know it's supposed to be '5' and being new to the thread I don't want to rock the boat, but I'm only posting the one for today.

    1) I am thankful that our pooch made it through her ordeal well enough to come back home with us and is doing well now. Numbers 2-5 would all have to do with her today.

Kadeeae sorry to hear it's been a rough one, but good that the pooch is on the mend!

    My 5 today are:
    1. Having a lovely long lie in and then waking up to frosty sunshine
    2. Making lunch out of the remains of veg from yesterday's roast
    3. Using up a packet of nearly out of date ham to make sandwiches for the freezer ready for work next week.
    4. Making a massive pot of chilli ready to be frozen
    5. Getting loads of chicken that had been yellow stickered in Morrisons and stocking up ready for chicken pie and curries...mmmm!

Mine for the last couple of days

    1) finishing at 4 on new years eve, we were let out early on xmas eve so wasn't really expecting to finish any earlier NY.

    2) cooking a big roast dinner yesterday, after eating at other peoples and pubs for the past week it was lovely to sit down to my own food, loads of veg, why is it wherever I go no one cooks as much veg as me :rotfl:

    3) having my hair cut this morning - shame I came out of the hairdressers in a heavy snow shower and apart from it being a lot shorter you would never know I had been :rotfl:

    4) going for a walk in the snow this afternoon, at the end of our road there is a small public garden, it always looks lovely in there, but was beautiful in the snow

    5) being indoors in the warm tonight, think we are due more snow and its cold out there

I love this thread... it is so positive!

    1) Snuggling up with one of the furbabes this morning to look through recipe books for inspiration. He was purring with pleasure which is always nice to hear.

    2) Made two batches of soup - one with odds and sods from the freezer and the other was leek and lentil which was simply gorgeous!

    3) I can smell the lovely HM roast veg and stilton tart in the oven as I type. YUM!

    4) Knowing that there is still 1 more day left of the weekend

    5) Having a dishwasher to clean up after my cooking spree.

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

    Dear all

thank you so very much for complimenting me on the roman blinds, it means a lot to me because I am really full of self doubts when it comes to crafts. When I first saw them on the windows I thought they do not look straight, the thread looks like it is pulling etc. but everybody who sees them compliments me, so I am now basking in a little warm cloud of pride for having managed. Much credit to DH too, who helped with the sticks (whatever they are called) inside and with hanging them.

    My five for today:

1 - I was woken up by a phone call from a neighbour inviting me to a birthday party - I said yes of course but whose birthday? Silly me, it was her baby's first birthday, I was there at the birth, how could I have forgotten? Lovely to be invited to a family do, felt very warm and fuzzy.

2 - Made it in time to return the DVD to the library before going to baby's party.

3 - The party itself was lovely, very very nice people and I got to know the baby's dad family too. And lovely food!

4 - After the party, another quick party, with another neighbour, our local vicar, who had an open house.

5 - After all this, a quick trip to M&S to buy toilet roll but found loads of yellow sticker veg so tonight it is going to be steamed mix veg with rice, dressed with lemon and olive oil, nice and detox!

Off to have a bath (the first of the whole season - I usually have showers). Treat to myself.

    Love to all xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    Hiya

    Mine for today:

1 Got the hallway de-cluttered, cleaned and all the shoes put away. So nice to walk out there and it looking clean and tidy rather than me thinking 'uurrggg I have to sort this out!!!'

    2 Finished my ironing. yay!

    3 Easy leftovers food today.

4 Watching a muppet christmas carol with kids. I love that film, its my favourite xmas film ever but think the kids were a bit embarrassed by mummy singing along!! :P

5 Dh tidied living room up whilst I put kids to bed. That was unexpected of him and very much appreciated!

Thats me for today. Hope you are all having a good weekend.

    Happy New Year everyone
    caterina..love the blinds hun,
Iv'e not done a lot [except walking ]the last few days, i find this helps me to think more clearly about my life, and the clear cold days are invigorating!

    # completed transferring all the info from last years calender to the new one,a job i am always pleased to finish!
    # buying a pretty 1/2 price gold box to start putting pictures in,of my style ideas for my home. As the whole house will have to be redecorated when the rewiring is finished, hopefully it will all be co-ordinated [as my Dsis said] !
    # did more decluttering, oh where does it all come from??
    # the lovely smell of freshly baked bread which i've just taken out of the oven, i do love making bread!
    # like one or two others on here, the satisfying sound of pound coins dropping into an empty tin, and envisioning myself with the tin opener at the end of the year, counting hundreds of pounds,[ well at least 200 ]

sunnygirl...thinking of you and your family

    have a tranquil night all
