    Evening

    Been a busy couple of days so not had time to post. Some pleasures from the last couple of days;
    1. Overnight stay in a hotel on Thursday and a team dinner. Some of the team overdid it slightly and finished up in a Casino, glad to say I wasn't one of them. One lost over £160:eek:
    2. Staff training on our Portsmouth office on Friday. Training room we were in had lovely views over the docks.
    3. The trainer we had was so funny but don't think it was intentional. Several of us played buzz word bingo during the day.
    4. Meeting up with DD on Friday night in Kingston to take her to a shopping event in Jack Wills. She was very pleased with the goody bag and mine gave me a couple of things to add to peoples christmas presents. Got DD a christmas present which certainly wasn't MSE but she is happy also picked up some bits for her from my mum.
    5. Dinner afterwards with DD, my friend and her DD. Friend kindly gave us a lift home.
    6. The backlog of washing cleared yesterday. Finished up taking it to the launderette as knew I would never be able to get it all dried. Plus as was all tumbled dried most of it didn't meed ironing.
    7. Some family time on Saturday afternoon.
    8. HM chicken and gammon pie for dinner tonight. Went down very well in fact too well as none left for my lunch tomorrow
    9. DD washing up and putting the bins out

Hugs to all who need them

    1. DD1 texted me about 1am to tell me about the penny pinching programme on C4 Thursday, was so chuffed she actually thought of me and bothered to text, even though she was in the next room!

    2. A much nicer day weather-wise.

    3. healthy yellow sticker fresh fruit for late late brunch

    4. healthy yellow sticker stir fry for tea.....

    5. .... all of which was then negated by gorgeous yellow sticker cherry pie with double cream:o

    1. Went to Lid1s and stocked up for christmas on treat bits. I don't buy very much extra and now have all thr treat bits.

    2. DS2 tidied his room and he has carpe!!!! He only has one bag of rubbish, 1 bag for ebay -done- and 1 bag for charity shop - will take on Wednesday.

    3. Went to cinema to see 50/50 which I enjoyed. We went before 6 and DH and DS2 both pay student rate so cheaper and DH needed a break from studying.

    4. I tidied the cupboard under the stairs and found items I had put in a safe place.

    5. I started making my xmas pud by soaking the fruit and pkayed xmas music.

Thanks Kittikins - that made me giggle. I am also left wondering what type of time I am having???:rotfl:

PurpleKitten - any news on your kittycat?

Thanks everyone for your kind words... I will just have to rise above it when we go on the Island tour this afternoon. We are supposedly doing wine tasting tomorrow but at least there will be other people around to chat to.

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

    Random pleasures for the weekend:

    1) Ton of logs delivered on Saturday morning which should last us til the New Year.

    2) Cooked breakfast on Saturday.

    3) My school friend came round for tea.

    4) Watched Casualty.

    5) Next door neighbour (not THAT one!) came round looking furtive... he has bought his wife a laptop for Christmas and wanted to know if they can use my wireless broadband as their Sky phone wire (?) has been cut during the road works and won't be mended until January. She won't be getting the laptop until Christmas Day. :-D

    6) Bit of a lie in on Sunday.

    7) Helped out at the school Christmas Fayre. We were on the Craft Stall.

    8) Lovely hot dog from the BBQ at the fayre.

    9) MrB came round yesterday.

    10) Quite a nice tea - roast chicken etc.

Loving "slagroom"! I went out with an Austrian when I was at University so picked up several unsuitable words. :-) Deutsche ist nicht meine Muttersprachen is about the most useful sentence!

P.S Advance notice for Dad-watchers. Mr Frith will be working in the only holly market in the country tomorrow so may be visible on Midlands Today or Countryfile. :-)

just so you know chocolate is better when it's not melting in 26o humid heat at 9.30pm :(

1.Just in from an amazing concert that DD2 was in, all the performing arts pupils were performing. She is in choir, band (as vocalist) and had a slightly nervous start of a solo performance! They all did so well.

    2.Work was eventful!

3.Not a pleasure really, however, sat down at table & wrote $1500 (956 pounds) worth of cheques for school fees/camp/trips/prom nights. Feel slightly better that I have dealt with it!
It horrifies me that we have to pay so much for state education. We still have to buy all the texts books and have not had fees request for DD2 who will start secondary in February. I felt physically sick on Saturday when I counted everything up, over $2000 for oldest 2's fees & books.

4.Nice chat with my niece this morning to arrange skype call to see baby!

5.Sun shining! Flowers blooming & my favourite jacaranda trees getting more purple every day!

    Have a good Monday x
  • News on the kittty...Just as I was about to sign on to pet log and register the cat as missing, you guessed it she turned up - I’ll explain, we have a caravan on the driveway which we use and maintain when it’s not being used, at the moment it’s floor is being re-done as it separated, this involves basically drilling lots of holes in the floor occasional swearing and taking out the heater leaving a hole in the floor for ventilation and well you guessed it big enough for the moggy to apparently get in and well hibernate. She is now in the house!

I had an interview today in a part of London I very rarely go to but was pleasantly surprised in that the journey did not take too long, but the interviewer was like talking to a wet kipper, I had to force questions out of him, I didn’t expect any feedback as he was just to not interested, but I had great feedback and I am back in for a 2nd interview Wednesday. I know I shouldn’t say this but I have been to so many job interviews I want a job offer now!!!

Received an unexpected phone call to say I have an interview for a role I applied for over a fortnight ago which would be both a promotion and permanent with a well known company a pleasant surprise.

I have that horrible feeling that I am coming down with something that no matter how hard I try and battle through it as soon as I sit still, I feel awful.

Just off to Mr’A’s for some goodies – it’s advent calendar treat time, we have an advent “lorry” that gets filled with treats.

Thank you for the reminder, the DGC, old as they are, would never forgive me if I forgot the advent calendars
  • Thank you for the kind comments Sparrer
5 years ago I was late with the advent calendar well as in I forgot and I've never been let "forget" since...

Great news PK on the kittycat... glad he (she?) is back safe and sound.

I texted my mum this morning about the horrible boyfriend and she said why don't I just change my flight and go up to see them early.... now why didn't I think of that?? Flight is now changed and I fly to see my parents at 6am tomorrow morning. My friend and I had a quiet chat this evening and he admitted that how his boyfriend had behaved was incredibly rude. I have told him that I will not go anywhere with said boyfriend again. I know we are strong enough to survive this but I do feel a little guilty. Apparently they had a massive row last night about it.

    Anyway...

    So pleasures for today....

    - went to the harbour and had lunch by myself...
    - lunch was soon joined by several bottles of yummy cider
    - gorgeous sunshine with a very gentle breeze
    - went on a historic tour which was eye opening even though I know the history
    - moving back to a lovely hostel (they have given me my own room :)) and being greeted like an old friend even though I only stayed here 1 night 10 days ago!

    Night all.
