Sparrer: several years ago my mum & I went to a CP 'foster carer' to collect a cat, there were many ,many cats everywhere.....we got 'locked in' when the lock broke on one of the internal doors, she had to phone a friend who had a key to house, to come in & open the door from the other side! I had visions of ending my days in a mad cat lady house !
See if I can rustle up 5 from Friday & Saturday
1.very busy day at work yesterday, however did an extra few hours.
2.had a very nice Saturday scone.
3.non-stop rain today must be good for the garden!
4.Watching "Elf" and we are all smiling!
5.Nice chat with my friend on phone this morning.0 -
My five for yesterday are
1. went on interesting study day and had a free lunch.
2. DH dropped me off at station so didn't have to pay for parking.
3. Managed to have relaxing train journeys and read my book.
4. Finished my ironing.
5. Avoided the shops again.0 -
I too lost a post i had painstakingly typed out - so here are mine for the last couple of days
1. cleared out cupboard under stairs - wasn't too horrific
2. have had 2 days off so far - don't go back till Tuesday, 5 days in total - bliss
3. went for a lovely swim - first time in ages
4. kept the shopping down to a sensible level and got some good christmas pressie bargains
5. DS played his first footie match for about 7 weeks - they lost but he played well, boys football is so political

7. going to see DD in a play tonight - and going to Pizza express courtesy of Mr T vouchers beforehand
8. Made some yummy homemade soup
9. Got some "new" clothes from ebay
10 finished knitting a hat from left over woolI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
1) Sorting out the boy's clothes and realising they own 10x more than me and hubby combined.
2) looking for new boots for toddler son.
3) noticing toddler son looked like a parakeet after his nap as he STILL Needs a haircut.
4) finding out I made the right choice getting my friend season 2 of Downton Abbey as someone got her #1 already.
5) starting the weaning study and baby boy eating more than usual in his new bib0 -
Evening everyone!
Mine for today
1. Giggling at Oldie who is still on a Mission To Escape. As I was mucking out this morning, I spied her having removed the bottom sliprail and just about to limbo under the top one. Yelled PENNNNNNNEEEEEEEEEE NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO and she spun around and started grazing nonchalantly. Who? Me?
2. Made/Prep'd dinner this morning (pork and chorizo casserole with roasted veg) so nothing much to do tonight
3. Lunch date with OH to our local Thai- I had the lunchtime meal deal thingy - tempura vegetables- amazing! (cheap date, me), he had the most expensive thing on the menu
4. En route to lunch, called in at a garden centre to pick up some tickets for their xmas wine tasting *hic*. Spotted ex-PhD supervisor's car in the car park, so hunted her down for a chit chat! Funny lady
5. Free day tomorrow, with animal cover. Now, what to do??
Have borderline sore throat and manky chest- hope my immune system battles it off, before it becomes full-blown!!
Hugs to anyone in need xx0 -
The heating is on
There are bangers cooking in the oven, potatoes to be mash simmering and onion gravy, I’ve purposely made too much for fried potato tomorrow
Looking up my interview journey by train/tube and it’s not as bad as I originally thought.
Avoided going out and therefore avoided the shops so a NSD.0 -
1. DD and I had a lovely lazy morning
2. Low spend day, only 95p for a cucumber
3. A friend and I went around the village shops asking for raffle donations and were very pleasantly surprised by the generosity of the majority of shopkeepers
4. Lovely texts from OH, who's gone away for the weekend
5. DD and I made wraps for dinner, oh so messy with loads of flour everywhere, but yumyumyum!
6. I picked up a few books to read during the week - oh well, more to add to my ever-increasing reading pile
7. I got all the washing done and most on the line.......but then we went out and I didn't get back until it was dark, so it's still out there!!
8. I finally got round to reading last Saturday's paper and have put the paper into a carrier bag for DD to take to school to turn into papier mache0 -
Mhags I hear you, that was one crazy household yesterday
Millie I'm still chuckling at your oldie, the escapologist. When he was 6/7 years old DS's Welsh A used to do little bucks when he was riding her, he was a bit nervous about it til DD told him she was jumping daisies. When he didn't react any more she stopped doing it, the little mare!
Chicken I've just picked up Daniel Deronda by George Eliot, not read it before so looking forward to bed time. Having a wonderful time looking through the list of old novelists, but it's difficult to choose what to read next. So many books, so little time
1. Up at silly o'clock to visit DM in South Oxon, cuppa with her then on to DB/DSiL in Berks, called just at the right time as younger niece and her DH and adorable 10 month old DD were visiting too.
2. All m-ways (4) and dual carriageways (also 4) moving well, the mad shopping weekends haven't quite started yet thank goodness
3. Other than petrol, a nsd
4. No heating on, wearing my new wynciette jimmies which are far too long in arms and legs so rolled up so I don't trip over them, and thermal slippersox. With the heat of the laptop on my lap (yes, it really is) it's almost too warm
5. Just going to make a cup of £1 shop hot chocolate with a little ys squirty cream and settle down to watch Casualty
Sweet dreams0 -
Very quiet but productive Saturday for me!
1. Got up and prepared leeks from veg box for freezing and whipped some double cream that OH's mum had bought, for freezing. I am completely new to freezing and really trying to educate myself to save food and not waste it these days, having lived for far too long on expensive 'fresh' stuff that just gets thrown away.
2. Had lovely run in the sun. It was beautifully sunny and warm, but a galeforce wind! Westerly wind, hence the mildness. I ran to the top of the hill halfway round my run, which is in a lovely secluded bit of woodand that looks right across to the mountains and loch, and sat on a stone and had a good cry. It's been a very tough week for me for various reasons. I have depression and think I am having a bit of a dip at the moment. Felt lots better after though.
3. NSD. I wanted to make red cabbage and apple but we only had some manky looking apples left on the trees in the garden. So I nipped across to the village shop but they were out of apples too. So I thought I would give the trees one last look over, and found the very last 2 edible apples at the very top of the tree. Gave the branch a good shake and got them! :j
4. Made said red cabbage and apple, with veggie sausages and mash and onion gravy (Purple kitten - we unite in teatime choices- sausage n mash is my fave)
5. I bought a 2nd hand copy of 'Thrifty ways' off Amazon and it arrived today. It is a continuing education! :money:0 -

sparrer - a MASSIVE THANK YOU for the restaurant discount card tip that you pm'd Ginger snap and I about a few weeks back . We have two on the way... one for us and one for my brother for Christmas.:D
5 for today
1.Got rid of the dead courgette plants and cut back the blackberry bush as it keeps grabbing me when I walk past it. It was nice and quiet in the garden as no one else was about
2. Got a little "help" in the garden from the hens, who won't go near me when I have my gardening gloves on , but as soon as I had lifted a cloche that had spinach underneath it they were there within 5 seconds , bathing in the soil and stuffing the spinach.
3. My ancient hen mugged me for the last of the blackberries. I don't think she will be with us this time next year
4. Made a lentil dhal and wait for it... lobster pakoras . The lentils were lovely, pakora's were not that great .I am trying to use up the contents of the freezer so some meals will be a bit hit and miss .
5. Gave some eggs to my sister today , we are getting around four eggs per day now as my Skylines are all moulting. Their Elvis quiffs are growing back but two of them are without tail feathers. It is weird having only brown eggs as we normally have blue ones when the others are laying. Still I can't complain , four per day is enough to feed us, my neighbour, my Mum, sister and my work colleague
Have a great evening all x
ninnoodle - (((hugs))):AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0
