5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

-
1) my baby farting his way through baby massage rather than crying.
2) seeing my babygroup friend
3) my toddler calling the cat, dog and the dog, shoe.
4) My lunch of hoi sin duck wrap.
5) buying a block of cheese heavily reduced.0 -
Evening all.
1) It looks like my leaky sink has finally been fixed, at the fifth attempt. (I didn't post yesterday because I was still steaming over the handyman's latest visit, which made things considerably worse and left me with water all over the floor.)
2) Got myself a really good bargain on one of the Amaz0n lightning sales - a wireless mouse, which I've wanted for ages: with a combination of the sale discount and a survey voucher it cost me less than £5. :money:
3) A nice chat on the phone with my DM.
4) One of my favourite super-quick dinners tonight - Thai noodles.
5) Deciding to treat myself to an evening at the pub quiz rather than studying.savingforoz wrote: »CCP - I'll be moving to Portsmouth in 2012!
Ooh, how exciting!Have you been to Portsmouth before or are you coming here sight unseen?
Chickenopolis - good luck with the report. If there's one thing worse than having to write an essay / report, it's having to write a political one! :eek:Back after a very long break!0 -

, are we talking "Ark" proportions?? If so I can picture millie, you, sparrer, rainy ,me and most definately purplekitten ( pied piper) herding or being followed by our animals two by two far away from Portsmouth ....
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Feeling really happy and relaxed I’ve no idea why and no good reasons as I’m still un-employed but I am at least doing things, and I think maybe it’s the festive season as I love the lead up to the day, I may be literally broke but we have decorations and lights and festive music and each other – I know how corny it sounds.
1. I went to the doctors and stocked up on prescriptions while I have a pre payment prescription, it went fine.
2. We started on the redecorating, as we started 10 years ago but lacked inclination well now I have the time it’s getting done, slowly, I’ve done a patch test as we have had the paint so long just waiting till tomorrow now.
3. The rotiserrie chicken from the reduced things yesterday was sandwiches for DH and myself for lunch and now it’s turning into a dinner for tonight of chicken and chips.
4. I used a tiny part of a 99p shop massive 3kg batter mix yesterday, and thoroughly recommend it, there is enough here for another 15 portions and all that needs adding is water it’s got the eggs / milk etc already in it, and rose far more than my home made batter ever has.
5. Watching the 1951 Rawhide with DH, just fantastic, I love the oldies, it’s a wonderful life etc.
6. Still applying for jobs another 5 today, and still hopeful.0 -

It wasn't quite ark time, but it was certainly pretty soggy when I turned the tap on! I don't think my mog would agree to go on the ark unless he could bring his friend the handyman with him - the mog was the only one who was happy with the repeated visits!Back after a very long break!0 -
Just a quick 5 as still poorly. Have felt sick/had a bad tummy since the Monday before last!
1) Had hair cut at the local college. Lower class than normal so only £2.75! The tutor always has to finish it for them as my hair is so fine and short so it looks OK (I think).
2) Had a mug of hot chocolate in a cafe afterwards.
3) Sainsburys without boys so got lots of useful bits in plus Advent calendars.
4) Got home from Sainsburys and had an answering machine message. I've got an interview for the job I applied for! It's not til December 7th so I'll probably have forgotten what the job is by then.
5) Quite a tasty tea - still using up duplicated store cupboard ingredients. Massive stir fry with noodles followed by the remnants of yesterday's crumble.
Ah yes, also bought a cheap DVD from Sainsburys with the idea of having a film night here tonight for the boys. But smaller son decided to get annoyed at school and say to his teacher "For eff's sake, effing hEll" (but it wasn't eff...) So I had to have another chat with his teacher after school. I apologised and reminded her that she has referred him to CAMHS and that is seeing his paediatrician in December and I have told him (the Dr) about the swearing for the last 5 years.... Anyway, film night is cancelled!
Oh, and a 6) Took MrN's key off my keyring. I've put it in the secret key place (with my spare) in case any of his sons ever lose theirs. It's the end of an era. A bit :-( but also a bit :-) ! Does anyone know where you can get sparkly keyfobs from?0 -
Millie - my welsh mountain pony got laminitis in the spring , are you feeding oldie banoffi pie or something?
I must say , I had heard that sales of that book were pretty slack..........:rotfl:;) It did make me laugh - thank you x
No Banoffee pie, but I am sure she would if she could get her grubby little hooves on it!! The more I read about that book, the more I want it- have a horrid feeling that OH might buy it for me to unwrap in front of the parentals on xmas morning...just the type of thing he'd do!!Thank you CCP -as you can probably gather this chicken has never been politically correctSorry to hear about your leak:(

It'd have to be a flipping big Ark to fit my lot on!!0 -
Doofus- hit send too soon!! My five for today...
1. Apparently the grass is greener on the other side, as oldie found out this morning when she broke through the (rather sturdy) sliprails, into the Big Field. Mum said "errr, where's Penny?" "in her paddock" "nope, she's not". Given that the grass was indeed greener, she wasn't too keen on being caught and given that she can be a bit handy with her back legs, I resorted to a feed scoop and managed to grab the little madam. Muchas giggling though! Dad fixed the slip rails...
2. Met lovely friend at a local garden centre/shopping and eating mecca. Drank tea, ate too much, chatted, mooched and shopped for a few xmas bits. Was so lovely to catch up with her! Friend is 25 years older than me, but we still lowered the average age in there by about 20 years...purple rinsetastic!
3. Nice email from one of my 3rd years, who is interested in doing something similar to my ex line of research. I didn't like to dampen his spirits by recalling mine and my colleagues' experiences of scientific research careers (no job security, lack of funding), so I encouraged him- poor lamb!
4. OH is out, much as I love him, I do like my own space sometimes...it means I can watch rubbish on TV that he can't stand
5. Another day out tomorrow with colleague to visit her horsey daughter (colleague blames me for this for giving her rides on oldie)
Note, yet again a lack of the words "tackling" "marking" and "pile". This will, of course, bite me on the bottom on Sunday night....0 -
Bit of a sad day yesterday as in the evening DD found that her little hamster had died in her sleep. Lots of tears, from DD and from younger DS, bless him. Buried hamster in garden today in appropriate melancholy drizzle.
On a happier note,
1. Discovered that from tomorrow As@a are bringing back their £5 off £40 vouchers. We did really well from the last campaign so its fantastic news.
2. Wrote my first 6 Christmas cards today. Not a lot but its a start!
3. Visit this evening from a lovely friend and her daughter who are visiting from the states. We enjoyed chocolate fudge cake and a good natter. Wish she didnt live so far away!
4. Started a new knitting project, a hot-water bottle cover in a mixture of moss stitch and garter stitch. Only dropped a few stitches so far...
5. Watched Kirstie's handmade Britain from last night with DD in front of the fire, with relaxing candles lit and a cosy rug over our legs. :-)
Frith really hope you are feeling loads better soon and that things are okay with you know who.0 -

RIP HammieThey are such cute little things, but don't live anywhere near long enough. I've had lots die on me over the years- parents' back garden is like a hamster graveyard!
