Morning all! Typically, on the day I could stay in bed til 8am, I woke up at 6am.
Frith :cuddle: and hugs to anyone else in need
Mine for yesterday
1. Saw my 3rd years for my final proper lecture of the module, took them chocolates. I will be sad to see them go, as they are a nice bunch of kids (kids- haha, that makes me sound ancient!)
2. Lovely lady from work had a positive appointment with her oncologist, v relieved for her
3. Was able to help out with a student in total crisis...the joys of welfare!!
4. Ex-student - one of the first few masters students I taught, had a successful PhD viva yesterday. Well deserved!!
5. So we all went out to the German markets last night for Gluhwien and sausages (well the meat-eaters had sausages, I had chips)
Not in work now til Monday, as my other students are at the hospital- huzzah. Ok I have a huge pile of marking, but we shall gloss over that!0 -
Morning all, very blustery here this morning so washing is out
My 5 for yesterday:
1. Had really pleasant lunchtime run in the sun
2. OH's mother arrived to stay for a few days. OH actually stood up for me re our cats (she doesn't like them and always has digs about them)
3. OH cooked a lovely tea (er, cottage pie again - we love it!) instead of going out, which he usually does when his mum is here
4. Boiler had a service and is fine (got a deal via groupon but am I allowed to moan that it cost £50 for 5 mins look-over? )
5. Nice evening chatting with wine0 -
Belated Happy Birthday Purple Kitten Well done on the paperwork, less than a foot high is impressive! I'm still measuring mine in yards (I still think in Imperial measurements) but it used to be furlongs so the trend is in the right direction:D:
Things have been very busy, combined with me feeling unwell, on and off over the past couple of days so I'm only just catching up now.
So a few pleasures now and maybe I'll post more tonight.
1. Invented a very speedy 'pasta bake' that worked.
2. Far less sports kit than usual to get washed today. The sun is shining and the two loads can go out on the line even though it's cold and there's no breeze at all.
3. Getting my local council's newsletter. There was a lot in it this time that made sense in practical ways. It's well written and well laid out too. I think I might write and tell them so.:)
4. Some productive conversations with DS1 about how we economise on the cost of competitions in his sport.
5. Blitzing through some research that I'd been stuck with.
See you later

Mine so far today:
1. Had enough energy this morning to clean both bathrooms and put away washing etc. Felt virtuous enough to enjoy a cuppa and chat to a friend after as I felt I had earned it.
2. OH got down the Christmas cards, crackers and gift bags from the loft that I bought cheaply in the sales last year. I bought more than I thought, which means I don't really need to buy any more now. :-) I aim to start writing a few cards each day from now onwards...
3. Did a bit more knitting, trying to get to grips with the terminology: yf, skpo, K2tog, psso etc. Still very confusing, but free youtube videos helped. And I like a challenge. :-)
4. OH had two jobs on today and one for tomorrow. From being painfully quiet things are definitely improving. Long may it last as we could certainly do with the money. (See point 5 below)
5. DD is delighted to have been offered a place on a trip to Strasbourg next year with her school. 42 places only for the 160 girls in her year, so it was first come first served. She hasn't gone on a trip before and was so excited we promised her she could go if accepted. Trouble is we now have to find the £420 to fund it!!
Hugs to Frith and anyone else who needs them. xxx0 -
Good evening all !
Millie - enjoy your loooong weekend with your critters
Frith - I hope that you are given the answers that you need - re Mr. B x
savingforoz-well done with your writing achievements:) CCP - maybe you can do a bit of a deal with SavingforOz with your next essay
5 for today
1. Second day of the site visit, I interviewed one of the workers and she was really lovely and has very high standards re her role. I met another worker who I asked for some info , which it turns out had been filled out incorrectly by her and she tried to argue the toss with me . I wasn't having any of it as her negligence posed serious risks to others . I then asked her manager to put this right immediately as I couldn't go home knowing that it hadn't been done.I don't fall for "smoke and mirrors" by ars*y workers when people could be at risk of harm. Some days just go like that though , rough with the smooth and all..:)
2. Henry the hen was still up waiting for food when I got home. She keeps going in and then back out when the security lights come on
3. Two £5 Mr. T giftcards waiting for me ( newspaper rewards)
4.Looking forward to having a day in the office tomorrow for a change !
5.Quorn lasagne and chips for tea as I am getting too thin and my clothes look like dressing up clothes on me now!
Have a good evening all !
5.:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
1) bought hubby some nice deodorant for an important meeting tonight.
2) my toddler eating all his tea, then half of mine. (Usually he eats about 1/4 of his own)
3) being told my babies jabs are infact next week not this
4) buying a cake tin so I can finally bake proper cakes.
5) my toddler just now picking up a board book, taking himself to his table and 'reading' (hes only 18 months)xx

I’ve been thinking of you Firth well of the posts, I hope you are OK.
Lovely relaxed start to the day, I actually got a night’s sleep last night, but I was ridiculously tired, but feel so much better for it.
We’ve got away without a weekly shop this week, but need to pop to Mr T for Milk, Cheese and Chicken tonight.
Frozen well cooked you know what I mean pizza for lunch and put some sausages in to cook through for tea for tonight.
I missed calls from recruiters, I returned them all but nothing, they are so frustrating!
If I’m feeling energetic the hallway which has been part decorated for years, might actually start getting done tomorrow scary, it’s a bit odd on the home front as I’m home we are actually starting to get the bits done we have always put off!0 -
Riversong - how cute is your little one
I have great photos of my DD 'reading' as a littlie, now she's 6 she prefers watching the simpsons, but thankfully we do get some reading in as well!
1. I've s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d the remains of yesterday's beany soup by adding more beans today, it's more of a stew now but we WILL eat it!
2. YS bread in the village shop
3. I've made an appointment for my parents to go and view the dream bungalow next Tuesday, I can't see it til Monday as the agents won't have the keys until then *sigh*, it's going to be hard sitting on my hands until then I can tell you.......from the outside, it's near on perfect.
4. DD was a very cuddly and funny kitten this morning
5. Postman brought me LV from doing a survey, yay, it seems to have gone back up to £4 from £3Every little helps as they say.....
6. In eager anticipation of the hope of moving house and of the school fete next weekend, I've weeded through my books again and have a good pile to add to the table. Let's hope people like highbrow French literature as I have a lot of that left over from my degree back in the 90's that I'm no longer kidding myself I'll ever want to read again.....Also, the more I get rid of now, the less I'll have to pack up and move
7. Took OH to his physio appointment and she was really pleased with his progress, so the nasty medicine that's making him feel rubbish (and stopping him from coming for a sleepover tonight) is having some good effects. We had a lovely time this afternoon though, sneaking kisses in whilst his parents were in the kitchen making cups of tea
*swoon*
8. DD proved she is my daughter by asking me this morning if she could buy OH a present - Simpsons or Top Gear DVD and when I suggested we have a look online she said yes, and then we can see which one is cheapest! That's my girl! He'll love either, as he's a big fan......but we all like the Simpson's, and so I steered her in that direction
9. Had lovely chats with friends and their children whilst walking up to school in the fog this morning
Right, better go, I've been summoned to the sitting room to give DD a back massage!0 -
kittikins theyre brilliant at this age aren't they? He gabbles all day and does some really quirky things... Like sticking his finger in the mud then bringing it over to show me!!!x0

Oh ops, not very MSE, we don’t like Mr T but it is just around the corner and we only needed a top up shop, except last week the kettle tried to kill us then burn the house, so we decided it’s recycling time had come, after forgetting I was boiling water on the stove for the umpttenth time today it was pain of death or buy a kettle, so I am faced with the 5.97 one in Tesco but it was just too no for me so we spent an extra fiver on a I’m plastic but pass off as not with my blue led kettle. And then we ponder all is going well until we find that for the only time in our lives we are there on time for half price big roast chickens now £2, and bread and odds and sods ahem, so our top up shop became a 43 pound shop, but then I realised we had a 7 pound of 50 voucher so grabbed 2 bags of frozen chicken to take it to 50 and reduce to 43.
Toad in the hole is cooking away tonight, and the reduced rotisserie chicken will be used all of tomorrow.0
