Sorry to hear about the little one passing, sweet dreams.0

Can't remember if I've told you, Chickenopolis, but I love your name! And I couldn't help but laugh at you outing the bottom starer!
CCP, I lived in Portsmouth duting the Eighties. Came down for a day recently (Southsea mostly) and very little has changed - some of the restaurants I used to go to are still there.
Frith - sorry you're not well, but congratulations on the job interview. :j
Let's see what I can come up with for today.
1. Writing another chapter and 3,500 words of my novel. Finishing day will be Saturday.
2. Arranging a drink to celebrate with friends on Monday.
3. Sad, I know, but I love Brussels sprouts and tonight I had my first ones for about eighteen months. They're not that keen on them in South America...:p
4. My lovely neighbour wishing me a great day.
5. Today was the last day of the working week for me. A three day weekend beckons.
6. The guy I'm doing some contract work for being in a happier mood today.
7. Swapping texts with my lovely friend this evening.
8. Finding some great free editing software that will help me revise both the novels I've written.
9. Having a moment of blinding mental clarity in realising that I don't want to spend next Wednesday evening at an accountancy networking event  and cancelling. Whatever made me say yes in the first place?
10. Confirmation from a difficult to get hold of friend that she'll be coming out for curry next week.Life is not a dress rehearsal.0 -
I give up on the late night postings and am going to try the daytime instead - yesterday ran away with me again.
My latest five pleasures then:
1. I now have a lovely little pile of ribbons (see previous post!) Thanks Sparrer!
2. Sun is shining again. Washing is out on the line again. More sports kit is doing in the washing machine again.
3. Lovely conversation last night with someone qualified who has offered to help get DSs through their DofE expedition training for free and lend them much of the kit.
4. Getting an unexpected cheque for £15.
5. I've just realised that my portion of last night's ice cream (half-price) is still in the freezer and that's just what I fancy eating right now.
Have a lovely afternoon everyone.

Hi All,
Ginger Snap - sorry about your hamster
Chickenopolis - I love your name too!!
Frith - congrats also on the job interview and hope you start to feel better soon!
My 5 for yesterday:
1. Good lunchtime run in galeforce wind, getting blown about at the mercy of the elements
2. Drove into town to meet OH and his mother to have tea and watch a show. It was a lovely evening
3. OH dragged me into Blacks while I was there to point out a heavily reduced rucksack he'd had his eye on. Since I've got his Christmas presents, that's now his birthday present sorted (for Feb)
4. While I was in town (as I'm rarely there) I took the opportunity to get one of the 50p carwashes that BP have vouchers for. My car hadn't been washed for about 8 or more months - I always think I will do it myself as a waste of money to pay for it, and then it's too cold to do it myself. So I felt hugely pleased with myself
5. Received Christmas and birthday cards from my dad in the post with some money0 -
Didn't post yesterday as seem to have had a constant naggy-type headache for a couple of weeks, last night it caught up with me so tried to stay off the comp as much as possible. Last had my eyes tested 3 years ago
, about time I made myself another appt, I think.
1. Got my first Christmas card - not a pleasure at all (it's far too soon) but it did give me the new address of the sender, which I'd been hoping for.
2. A 'gift' from Mr Cameron to help with fuel bills. Fuel prices have rocketed and the winter payment has gone down by a 1/5th, but am really grateful we don't live in a country without a welfare state
3. Just finished Cider with Rosie, love reading old books a second time as there's always something a bit 'different' about them iyswim
4. A friend borrowed my cat carrier and we went to pick up her new mog from CP this morning. The fosterer had 18 cats in her terraced house, it was catastrophic! Said friend came home with a dear little ginger girl who loved the car and sat up in the carrier with a grin on her face - think Cheshire cat in Alice in Wonderland - all the way back
5. Lovely email from the place in Rome DGD and I will be staying at Easter with lots of info and assurance we'll be picked up from the airport. I do appreciate good service
Have a good rest of the day0 -
1) My toddler and baby 'talking' to and playing with each other.
2) seeing my friend again
3) Baking a cake.
4) Donating my change to charity.
5) A cheeky half hour lie in with my baby while hubby gave our toddler breakfast.
Big hugs to all.xxx0 -
Evening all.
I've spent much of today feeling rather gloomy, after meeting a friend last night and hearing about the problems she's having at the moment (both her daughter and her 15 week old grandson are seriously ill). Let's see what I can do, though:
1) I spent most of the day working on a very long, very dull job - but my word was I pleased when I finished it!
2) Deciding to have another evening off studying as I really couldn't face it after wading through the above job. (I expect that's a pleasure I'll be regretting come Sunday, when I suddenly realise I haven't done any studying for three days!)
3) Putting a bottle of really good wine in the fridge: I got it when there was a special offer in the supermarket, so it's considerably better quality than I can usually afford.
4) Spaghetti carbonara for dinner - yum!
5) It's Friday. :j
Have a good evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
Good evening all!
Millie-now if you unwrapped the book and your onlookers saw it in its glory upside down ...boy, I would pay good money to see their expressions:D
frith - well done on the interview ! Get well soon XX
sparrer - I hope that you feel better soon XX. One day I will get round to reading Cider with Rosie ...(or cider with CCP), I am however a sucker for Thomas Hardy and have read Jude the Obscure and Tess of the D ,several times, and as you say it feels different when you read the same book several years later .
savingforoz and ninnoodle- thank you re the Chickenopolis name. I can't take the credit as I stole it from a Hugh F-W programme, ( post placenta fry ups but before his move to swanky River Cott. HQ) when he leased the pretty red brick cottage.
ginger snap - I am sorry to hear about your daughters hamster, a loss is a loss and is just as painful if it is a pet or a person, in my opinion
CCP- I think your cat fiddled around with the plumbing in order for his plumber friend to come round again and again.
6 for today
1. Day off!
2. Was just leaving home and was lucky enough to catch Postie who brought me another £5 giftcard, my Mr. T racing and Pizza Ex. vouchers and some from B***s.
3. Went grocery shopping out of my locality for a change , got £15 off using vouchers and purchased lots of high value items like 24 loo rolls and tins of chocs for Xmas . The lot came to £60 which I thought was pretty good.
4. Counting my blessings that the washing is still drying on the line at this time of year and that today it had an extra fresh windblown smell.
5. HM chicken chow mein with some veg. spring rolls , I cooked some for my Mum and was pleased that we did not resort to a take away as ours tasted less greasy and was a fraction of the cost.
6. Had a nice long chat with my brother who has a very demanding job. He is permanantly shattered and gets up , works then goes to bed and the cycle begins again , with not much in between ,and he believes that his life will be complete when he retires in about 15 years time .. I keep pointing out what about the here and now, the bit in between retirement but he has lots of "things" 3 expensive cars and a motorbike , nice house, children with latest gadgets etc that reinforce his "need" to stay on the roundabout. He is nearly at the "lightbulb" moment stage where time, health and quality of life is so much more important than "stuff" iyswim? I love him to bits and just want him to be happy and healthy
Have a fabulous weekend everyone !!:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
(apologies for typos or damnyouautocorrects, I am practising typing on the iPad- not going well!)
CCP - cuddle
Frith- congrats and hope you are feeling better v soon xx
Chicken- if it happens, I shall feed back! my mother is the World's Biggest Prude :snort:
My five for today
1. Woke up early, got up early, did housework. Boring but necessary!
2. Met colleague at the yard and she met oldie for the first time in 8 years
3. Went to meet colleague's daughter for lunch, colleague very kindly paid
4. Met colleague's daughter's horse. Have been asked to get on said horse sometime. Not sure whether this is good or bad?!?
5. Fab parentals did the horses for me tonight. Horses behaved. Bon.
6. Lunch date with OH tomorrow. Wot's he after??
Again, no marking done. Colleague announced today that she had finished hers. Resisted poking her in the eye.
Hugs to anyone in need xx0 -
sparrer - I love re-reading old classics. I read Cider with Rosie when I was 16 and loved it, and it's a book I've always meant to re-read. In fact I still have the same old copy I read on my bookshelf! I keep meaning to re-read Wuthering Heights again too. I remember curling up by the fire for 3 days solid when I was 16/17 completely glued to it!
5 for today:
1. Payday at last. Finances are in a state, but some unexpected bills last month didn't help. So I am budgeting for next month - only necessary expenditures! At least all Christmas presents have been bought.
2. 'Tested' my cats on some cheap Aldi cat food (that sounds meaner than intended!!). It seemed to go down a treat so here's hoping!
3. Email from ebay to say another free listing day this weekend. So that's my weekend sorted. It's such a time sucker but it is great to see the benefits.
4. Snow is on it's way! It has already snowed further north at my mum's and on the hills. I know I shouldn't be saying this but.....I can't wait!
5. A wee payment that I thought I would never get from Topcashback.0
