  • Millie I'm still chuckling at your oldie, the escapologist. When he was 6/7 years old DS's Welsh A used to do little bucks when he was riding her, he was a bit nervous about it til DD told him she was jumping daisies. When he didn't react any more she stopped doing it, the little mare!

Love it!! Must remember that for teaching smallpeople. In Oldie's case it is more jumping triffids though, the way she bucks- little madam! Love welshies- can't wait to have a child, so I can buy a sec A (not the only reason I am having children, honest!!)
  • Ninoodle Sending hugs to you.

    1. Friday evening OH cooked a gorgeous pork roast with veg and roasties, it was really delicious and such a nice surprise! (I think he wanted to get brownie points as was going out later for the second of three evenings this week!)

    2. Took OH and friend into town which was REALLY busy (queues everywhere!) and managed to walk round for several hours without keeling over. Couldnt have done that a couple of weeks ago.

    3. Finally got DD her Christmas bracelet sorted out and also got a couple of vouchers I needed, stocking fillers etc. Some more things ticked off my list.

    4. Enjoyed a wander round the Christmas market in the town centre, especially the delicious food smells and the sound of Christmassy music!

    5. Ordered some reduced price Debbie Bliss Angel wool to start a new knitting project.

Am feeling hot and flushy (yukky menopausal symptoms as result of recent op) so that explains this rather odd time of writing!

Hope you all have a good weekend. xx

    Had a good day yesterday

    1. Went for a long walk with my dog in the light - it seems to be dark all the tome now when we walk.

    2. Watching DS2 play rugby and score a try - third this week and he's a prop.

    3. DS1 phoned saying he has his gold D of E and who would like to go to St James palace to collect it with him as only one person can go with him.

    4. Tea - chiken stew cooked in slow cooker so tea virtually ready when we came in from rugby and cheap.

    5. A NSD

    Hello, bed time here!

1.Been a dry day & sun came out in afternoon after 36 hours of pouring rain!

    2.Had a long-ish lie for me!

3.Finished a book & started another one, I'm in a right reading mood just now! I always have a book on the go but sometimes I just want to read all the time!

4.Went to a HUGE shopping mall and on way was swapping purses over. I had a UK purse & an Oz one but Oz one is looking a bit worse for wear so have been meaning to swap over to my nice Radley one for a while.....anyway....found shopping centre voucher cards lurking in Oz purse and there was still $28.65 on them. So got DD2 a pair of sandals (in sale) for her Prom and a present for OH's Christmas. Didn't spend any real cash!

5.My M&S delivery came this morning! Very prompt service but 1 item is not what I ordered so will be sending them an email! Can hardly pop into my nearest store can I ?

6.Yummy tea of RTC steak (from freezer) done in slow cooker, mashed tatties, veggies and then used up some tinned peaches that were in fridge & made a peach sponge!

    Have a good day x

I'm still keeping fingers crossed for all of you who are dealing with job applications, references, interviews (and, of course, job offers!)

I've had another couple of days that have run away with me so here's a few belated pleasures from them:

    1. Taking the 'scenic route' through town on Friday night to see the Christmas lights that had been switched on earlier in the evening. It doesn't feel like nearly-December though! :D

    2. Driving DS1 and three of his friends up to London for an event they were helping at yesterday. I enjoyed their company a lot.

    3. Being given free parking and £7.50 worth of lunch vouchers while I waited for the group (and got some work related reading done too). I'll get my petrol reimbursed as well and since I drove very economically I'm hoping I'll be paid at a mileage rate because that will make a little bit of profit!

    4. Unexpectedly got an OU certificate through the post from some courses I'd completed several years ago. I didn't think they gave certificates for this particular qualification but they do and very posh it looks too!

    5. Watching a couple of the 4OD Kirsty Handmade Britain programmes.

    6. Positive phone calls with my mum and sister this morning.

    7. DS1, who's already very fit, announcing that he's planning a mega-drive on getting fitter through this winter. We have a good gym within walking distance and I think this is the cue to get his membership reinstated for the coming year. We can get this for free because of the level he is in his sport and I think it may be a godsend if the weather becomes difficult and access to other sport is impossible.

    8. Have started to buy some foodie treats for Xmas... well one actually, a jar of onion marmalade to have with cheese... but it's a start!

    9. Very, very nice pears from the vegbox.

    10. Today's an NSD.

Happy afternoons to all on this side of the globe. Sleep well in Oz!

    1. Got up and prepared leeks from veg box for freezing
    3. NSD. I wanted to make red cabbage and apple but we only had some manky looking apples left on the trees in the garden. So I nipped across to the village shop but they were out of apples too. So I thought I would give the trees one last look over, and found the very last 2 edible apples at the very top of the tree. Gave the branch a good shake and got them! :j

Have given up on my veg box - the quality has deteriorated and we just can't use up the more unusual veggies we get. Have decided to get veg from local farm shop instead.

How do you do red cabbage and apple? I have some of each that needs using so that sounds lovely.

    Mine for yesterday

    1. seeing DD in her play - biased i know but she was brilliant. I know how hard it is to make it in acting but it will be a shame if nothing ever comes of it.
    2. Finally got my hair cut
    3. DS played his first match in a while and was OK. (
    4. Made tomato and roasted red pepper soup with HG red peppers - lovely
    5. Getting loads of washing dry.

I am off to tackle a large cupboard in the bedroom.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

    Hi Ladies,

Just popping in to say hi as I have access for a computer. I am having a lovely holiday so far. The wedding was absolutely beautiful and I managed to manage an entire week with 5 kids under the age of 2 without getting really annoyed by them (I'm not known for my child tolerance!!). We had a gorgeous villa just metres from the sea and my room had a little balcony which over looked the beach. Lovely!

I have now been joined by my best friend and his boyfriend. I think I may have mentioned before I left that I had real reservations about the boyfriend. Turns out that they were well founded. He may be in his mid twenties but he is a completely spoilt brat who behaves worse than the toddlers. Basically he is passive aggressive and has massive sulks if we don't want to do what he wants to do... and even then he acts as if he is doing us a favour. He never says please, thank you or sorry. So after 3 days of this, I had had enough. We were supposed to go for cocktails on the beach (they had been wine tasting at lunch time and I had driven the 3 hours back from the vineyard while they slept). Anyway he demanded that we do not go in a taxi to the beach, one of us has to drive. Ie me... so I can't have a drink. Then he demands that my friend drives (after a few large glasses of wine at lunch time this was not such a clever idea). So I told them both I had had enough and they should have a lovely evening together I was going back to where I was staying. My friend apologised and his stupid boyfriend then demanded to know what he was apologising for. I didn't explain but my friend knew exactly what the problem was and didn't argue as he knew I would have told the boyfriend a few home truths.....

Anyway... so my lovely holiday with my best friend is now a lovely holiday on my own... which is sad but I am not going to let it bother me. Sorry for the rant!!

So let me focus on my pleasures:
    - lovely time with my family
    - beautiful sunshine
    - went cage diving with great white sharks... one got a little too close for comfort and I screamed like a baby!!
    - my first ever surf lesson... really fun!!
    - wine tasting with the family
    - lots of lovely cuddles with my nephew and assorted other children
    - Lovely fresh seafood

    Hope you are all well.

    L

  • A very long lay in but I didn’t get to sleep until gone 4am, trouble sleeping again.
Went for a walk (with the paws) to get the Sunday paper (for vouchers) and then it’s recycled into litter.
Chopped up leftovers mash/sausage, fried up with an egg cooked over for each of us, not very healthy but easy.
    Playing the WII
3 Loads of washing done but all over the house in various states of not dried.

One of our cats has gone missing, she’s a Bengal and has been gone for about a week, I let her partner out in the hope he will find her but he keeps coming back. She has gone wandering for about a fortnight before now and I had written her off as I phoned the vets who had a run over Bengal bought in but didn’t sound like her and the following night she was back, but I am growing concerned she’s 13 years old and not exactly spritely. Just getting a bit nervous now.
  • LH- :wavey: and pleased to hear that you are enjoying your holiday, in spite of the eejit BF!

Bit grrr tonight, as tried to warn friend about a mutual "friend" and what she is up to. Didn't work. I fear a lesson is about to be learned the long and hard way. Still I did my best!! Must resist the urge to say I told you so....

    Mine for today...

    1. Meant to be having a lie in, woke up at 6am (grr). When alarm went off at 6am yesterday, I felt like poking my eyes out!! I got up and mooched around- was quite nice to have the house to myself
    2. We were planning on doing some xmas shopping, but I bottled it and dragged OH and GSD out instead- we went to a local park; walked; ran away from dogs 1/10 of our size (GSD) then looked back from a safe distance as if to say "I could SO have you, shortarse"; ate cheesy chips and gained admiring glances from old ladies (GSD and maybe OH...). Fab way to spend a Sunday!
    3. Then we went to our local dog friendly pub on the way home for a cheeky drink. GSD stood shaking, briefly, then settled down to do some people watching. She even let a nice lady say hello to her, without doing a runner- progress!!
    4. Planning on going back to the German Markets tomorrow evening with OH. More mulled wine *hic* and some garlic bread, which is called knob something or other- the mind boggles!
    5. Animals are all snuggled up in their respective bedrooms

Hugs to anyone in need xx

    :wave::hello:

I have just texted said friend to say that I wasn't asking him to choose between us but I am over the passive aggressive emotional blackmail and will see them tomorrow afternoon. The boyf has got his way... he has my friend all to himself which is what he wanted all along.

Sometimes they need to make their own mistakes, Don't they Millie?
