Firth sorry you aren’t well, but congrats on the job interview.
Ninnoodle, my 2 cats absolutly love the cat biscuits from the pound shop more so than Go Cat, they are a bit peculiar.
Today was a little weird the phone hasn’t stopped ringing about job applications, and I’ve got interviews lined up next which is nice.
DH is very poorly today so we laid in and are taking it easy, watching Christmas movies tonight.
A couple of loads of washing done.
Is it to early to put decorations up this weekend???0 -
Tryped a huge long post about 3am this morning with yesterday's goodies, but lost it and cba to redo it.....until now, which will be a mishmash of both days
1. Yesterday, DD and I both woke up at stupid o'clock and came downstairs and played loads of card and board games before 7am!! Good fun though
2. Today I bought some yummy organic vegetables grown by children at DD's school, the kitchen smells gorgeous
3. After emails back and forth from a prospective buyer of one of my books on Amaz0n, she's finally bought the darned thingYay! It's take days so I really hope she likes it when it arrives!!
4. OH and I went for a peek through the windows of the 'dream bungalow' which is now online but I still can't get to see it until Monday, so as it's no longer a secret, I went to have a look-see. Apart from it having oil fired central heating, it looks dated but good. I'd want to change for gas as I don't like the thought of a tank just outside the back door so it may mean I can't afford it, but fingers crossed!
5. After DD's dance lesson, we walked down to the relevant village high street to see the Christmas lights turned on and mooch around all the stalls. We had a little fairy cake and shared some chips, nomnomnom
6. I had a very trying day at work yesterday so it was even more of a joy than usual to work from home today
7. Yesterday's dinner and fellowship meeting was fabulous and despite feeling like death warmed up, OH still babysat for me, as, as he said, DD is good with him and puts herself to bed after they've watched the Simpsons, so he can then go and warm my bed for me
8. It was lovely to come back home last night and snuggle up to OH
9. The sunshine recently has continued to keep my spirits lifted0 -
Well done on all the job interviews, Purple Kitten!
Let's see what I can come up with for today:
1. Day off from work - much needed and appreciated.
2. Writing the penultimate chapter of my novel - 24 chapters and 70,000 words done so far.
3. Running into my brother unexpectedly.
4. Having a lovely chat on the phone with my brother's girlfriend.
5. My grocery bill for the month being much lower than I'd budgeted for. Shame I'm way over on my eating out budget - could the two be connected?!
6. Getting lots done today, more than I'd anticipated.
7. Making my first batch of vanilla flavoured yoghurt.
8. Hopefully sorting a weird problem on my laptop.
9. Reading the book by Kath Kelly, the local woman who did an experiment to live on £1 a day, besides her rent and dental expenses, for a year. I went to a talk she gave about it and she was very entertaining. It completely changed her life and led to her meeting Mr Right!
10. My friend getting a promotion at work.Life is not a dress rehearsal.0 -
5 or so for today (Friday).
1) Boys to school happily and it was a non-uniform day.
2) House fairly organised and tidy.
3) Went into town and looked round the 2nd hand shops (nothing much).
4) Took advantage of my £10 off voucher and the cheap children's menu and we went to Frankie and Bennies. 3 massive meals (with puds) for £11.10!
5) Watched a DVD in front of the fire and had some popcorn.
6) The job I have applied for - the school has already asked my referees for their references (is this normal, before one is even interviewed??) so my one ref sent me what she had written and it makes me sound marvellous!!0 -
Kittikins: The bungalow sounds fantastic, good luck, if it was on line I would have the page conintually up. Are you staying in the area?0
-
Frith - wow, that's very unusual to approach the referees beforehand, I never did it when I worked in HR many moons ago.0
-
Kittikins - its been several years since I interviewed anyone and a very long time since I started in a new job, but that's what I thought...0
-
PurpleKitten - we are kindred kittens, I do have the bungalow up on another webpage and have been looking at the floor plans (only one picture of the outside as it's a tad "dated" inside at the moment)!! It's just a road over from where I live now, I love it here, DD's school is lovely, and OH lives in our village as well, so fingers crossed that this place will be perfect....0

frith- re the references . On the app form there is usually a tick box "can we approach your current/previous employers for references" Unless this is a character reference??:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Chickenopolis - I don't have a current employer so put down someone I volunteered for and a friend. There was a box which said something like "do we need to ask you before we approach this referee" and I ticked "no".0
