    5 for today

1.Rubbish day at work - although it went quickly .

    2. Driving home I saw a flock of tiny birds all flying and darting off in unison making strange Harry Potteresque shapes in the air . It was great .The driver in front also noticed .

    3. Henry hen was already in the Eglu but heard my voice when I arrived home and she pushed open the back door ,came stomping in to the kitchen eyeing up the worktops whingeing for food. She is unbelievable - the sheer nerve of it,but she makes me laugh .

    4. OH has got me a nice juicy steak for tea . Yum

5 . Got my pay slip which is a lot less , as I now work 30 hours instead of 37 per week. But to me the time off is priceless :D

Have a good evening all !

Five more pleasures from me for today:

    1. Phone call to a sports coach friend at the other end of the country to share some ideas I'd had that might work with a project he's planning. He sounded really pleased.

    2. Another phone call to our local council to say thank you for something they are doing really well atm. The woman I spoke to sounded gobsmacked to get some positive feedback!:D

    3. Read through an old script and have decided that I'm going to tighten it a bit and resubmit it to see if something can happen with it after all. Have got going on the edits. Plan to post it off by Friday.

    4. Watching the last of the 4OD Kirsty Handmade Britain programmes.

    5. The heating is on because I need to finish drying the sports kit for tomorrow and I'm loving the warmth. It will go off in an hour though!

    Sweet dreams

    Evening

    Pleasures for today;
    1. Beef casserole in the slow cooker before work this morning, lovely to come home to the smell. Plus just had to sort out the potatoes and yorkshires and that was dinner done.
    2. Pile of ironing done this morning as well. I was on form this morning with getting my jobs done as also got some washing in the machine.
    3. Friend bought me lunch, yummy
    4. Decided to be lazy and get the bus home from work as shoes were rubbing. Bus came just a couple of minutes of me being at the bus stop and got a seat.
    5. Even though OH is being arsey tonight have decided to just ignore his rudeness and carry on in my own sweet way.

Hugs to all who need them
  • Thanks everyone for your kind words... I will just have to rise above it when we go on the Island tour this afternoon. We are supposedly doing wine tasting tomorrow but at least there will be other people around to chat to

I was about to suggest going to the wine tasting and necking back a couple of bottles, then telling tw*tty BF what you really think of him...but I see you have changed your travel plans, which is by far the more adult option :) Hope you are ok though and hope she comes to her senses v soon. Please don't feel guilty, you were being reasonable and adult, unlike I would have been (ref above) xx

purplekitten so pleased for you xx

bit of a funny, meh day- have kind of fallen out with aformentioned friend, in that she is ignoring me, but I can live with that for a while, because she is fab normally :A

    My five for today

    1. Early wake up again, so I caught up with some house bits :)
    2. Fab texts from a (well educated) 80yo lady, complete with smiley emoticons and text speak. I normally detest txt spk, but this did make me giggle, lots!
    3. Sorted out some ?frogs? at work- is that what they are called- things you keep putting off?
    4. Met an old school medic today- he lectures on one of my modules, but I have never met him. Pleased I got to meet him and express my thanks for his contribution, face to face- and what a lovely man :)
    5. Just got back from the German Markets with OH. We were meant to be xmas shopping in town, but (blame the mulled wine) kind of went off track and bought a grand total of...drum roll.... one present- oops!!

Night night all! Buckets of hugs to anyone in need xx
  • Hi all.

    1) I don't think this is a pleasure, I just needed to share. I stood and spoke to a guy in the park while toddler son played. He lost his wife in the summer and I think he just needed someone to talk to. I invited him to a local play and stay for when his kids are out of school. Poor guy, he made me appreciate what I have. I wanted to do more for him but there's only so much you can do.
    2) Toddler son drew EVERYWHERE with his new felt tip pens.
    3) My Grandma randomly rang me and asked if we would go down before Xmas. This meant a lot to me as I don't see her or speak to her as often as I like. Sometimes I pine away wishing I lived closer. My Grandmas and Aunty are the only family I have now. Apart from OH and the boys of course.
    4) Baby boy interacting with toddler son.
    5) learning bits and bobs about baking and icing.

    1. Had some invaluable help from another forum with sorting out my gas dd. Sometimes you read posts for help and some of the responses seem anything but helpful, but I'm very grateful for the people who replied to my post

    2. Postie delivered DD's Christmas present, the shoes with red soles - wish my feet were two sizes bigger! On second thoughts my days of 4" heels are long gone...

    3. DS bought his present with the money I sent, a new pair of football boots. Not quite as appealing as the above satin shoes, and how he lost one of his boots is a mystery. It's not as if he's a child, he's almost 30 for goodness sake!

    4. Managed to sign up to a site which pays in Nectar points, apparently there were thousands of applicants and not many places so was very lucky. It's initially only for 3 months but every little helps

    5. Just watched a heartwarming documentary about a young woman with CF waiting for a lung transplant, twice let down by unsuitable donor lungs and the third saved her life. My lungs are carp but watching that makes me pleased I carry my donor card in case anyone wants any other bits :D

    Sleep tight :)
  • Hope you are all warm enough. It seems a bit draughty this evening.

    1) Pub quiz last night with DS's gf's parents and uncle. We got rubbish marks but enjoyed the chat.
    2) DH had to get up for work rather early this morning so I was able to put a load of washing on an airer and tidy up a little before I set off for work.
    3) May have a new recruit for our church Sci Fi and Fantasy book club which is great. I just love putting people together.
    4) Tea this evening consisted of salad, our vegan pasta sauce from last night with some mince stirred in and home-grown potatoes baked in the oven. Left over apple pie to finish.
    5) Messed around with felt this evening and made three little 'baubles' just for fun.

    2. Busy day at work but nicely so - mot chaotic.

    3. Sorted out a cupboard that I had been outting off doing for ages.

    4. Had chicken - cooked RTC - and salad for tea.

Patchwork quilt: quite warm enough thank you! 32o today! Was 25o at 7am so a very uncomfy night & have been a sweaty Betty all day at work!

1.Drove to work, the way I usually come home! Couldn't be bothered with fast cars & traffic lights so made do with mini roundabouts (9) instead!

2.Worked 2 extra hours today, I'm in saving mode not spending at the moment so every extra helps!

3.Washing out even though it's late it will dry in this heat!

    4.Easy tea of macaroni cheese.

5.RTC bag of bananas from greengrocers! They are back down to normal price now (hurrah!) so these will be mushed up & go in freezer for banana loaf.

    Have a good day !
