It’s my birthday today, we used the day out at the weekend with the in laws at the Christmas market as the celebration. Today has been lovely, as I always go out of my way to celebrate birthdays I was told I can’t ignore mine due to cash flow problems, so while we were in Canterbury DH picked me a up a 2nd hand pocket watch where you can see all of the workings exposed it’s amazing, it’s a pet thing of mine I have always been fascinated by them and when we saw it 2nd hand it was perfect as it already has character, as if I had to look after it I would always be worried as I am so clumsy.
We wanted to go out for dinner but it would be that or the weekly shop and the weekly shop is more important, so my gorgeous husband had made a “death by chocolate and more chocolate” birthday cake, amazing he is allergic to the kitchen every day, we are about to have cake and we have dug the Wii out so I will be shouting at the screen this evening. It feels great J
More than enough pleasures for the day0 -
1. DD made some amazing chocolate fairy cakes after school, clever little cherub, nomnomnom
2. Popped in to see a slightly poorly OH, love that man, even when he's feeling really pants, he's still adorable and calm and chirpy xxx
3. Great day at work
4. Fabulous volunteer session at school
5. DD came home with yet another school thing to buy....but they will be given as Christmas presents. Just 2 presents left to get now then I'm all done....
6. Nice email chat with a friend
7. My eternally dying washing machine has managed to do 2 loadsOne day it will surely die on me....but please not this month (again!)
8. DD and I have been watching Junior Bake Off, think it inspired her with her cakes earlier, so she's now going to be a doctor who bakes when she grows up
9. I'm planning to read and/or knit (not simultaneously, I'm not an octopus) once I've packed DD off to bed in a bit
HAPPY BIRTHDAY PURPLE KITTEN - your cake sounds deeelish!x

Evening all.
I haven't had a great day today - a combination of awkward emails at work (containing tasks that I'm fairly certain aren't my responsibility but am equally certain I'm going to end up stuck with anyway), a stubbed toe at work (I kept insisting that the filing cabinet attacked me, but for some reason no-one thought it likely ), and such bad service in a shop at lunchtime that I did something I almost never do and emailed head office to complain.
Anyway, pleasures:
1) 2nd NSD in a row - my trip to the shops at lunchtime was just to pick up my new fluffy boots which I'd already paid for with a survey voucher. :money:
2) HM lunch - LO pot roast beef with HM chilli jam on HM rye bread. :money:
3) I've finished the essay! :j:j:j (Referencing and all, Chickenopolis, though I've learnt to do it as I go along to save myself that painful duty at the end.)
4) Savoury mince tonight - just right on a damp, chilly day, particularly with the scone-type topping I've cobbled together to use up some buttermilk. (Pun intended - sorry.)
I can't think of a fifth one but #1 is really two pleasures anyway (NSD + new, free boots).
Have a pleasant evening, all - particularly Cat's family.
ETA - happy birthday Purple kitten! :bdaycake: (Sorry it's not a chocolate one!)

That is soo cute!
Happy birthday Purple kitten! That sounds like a lovely cake!
CCP - I had terrible service yesterday and vowed to complain....your post just reminded me to. I actually left the store in tears (it was just one of those days, and it was the icing on the cake)
Here are mine for today:
1. Lots of sales on ebay from my sales ending last night :j
2. Packaged up all the paid-for items from ebay and went across the road to the post office where I had a lovely chat with the lady who works there
3. Cleaned the kitchen, dining room and bathrooms tonight - feel very pleased with myself
4. Made another batch of scones (to use up last of buttermilk)
5. Still mild enough for no heating !0 -
Evening
Purplekitten - Happy Birthday
Pleasures for today,
1. Treating a friend to lunch using the last of the Mr.T ASK restaurant vouchers before they run out tomorrow.
2. Getting a free Wildlife Photographer of the Year book at work which should cost £25. Perfect for FIL for christmas:money:
3. The rain stopping a couple of minutes into my walk home
4. Trying some fancy pasta for dinner with a spicy ragu sauce. Was very tasty.
5. Not finding anymore little beasties in DD's hair tonight. Hopefully all gone
Hugs to all who need them0
