Morning
Pleasures for this weekend;
1. DD bringing me tea in bed
2. DD discovering the downside of wanting to go into childcare. She had little beasties in her hair:eek:. Hopefully have cleared them and the pleasure is she hadn't passed them on to me as she used to when little:o
3. Online survey completed so another £3 of Luncheon Vouchers on the way.
4. Lovely beef casserole for dinner yesterday which everyone enjoyed and clean plates all round
5. Checky chocolate eclair for dessert which was RTC in Waitrose
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Hello all. Hugs to Cat501 and family x
Good things happened this weekend
1. Managed to notch up 1 NSD - woohoo!! I'll draw a discreet veil over the other spendy days.......*sigh*
2. Spent lots of time with my beloved *swoon*, he just gets better and better
3. DD had a fabulous weekend with my parents and, even better, got all her homework done, yay, one less thing for me to try and remember before Tuesday night
4. Was complimented on a piece of work I did on Friday
5. Saw a lovely friend with OH on Friday night
6. Had friends over for dinner on Saturday, and they all loved the food - I love my slow cooker that makes cooking meat easy for a long-standing veggie like me, I guess it's done when its soft
7. Was invited to friends for lunch on Sunday, which was very delicious and their new house is looking like a fabulous work in progress. I'm hoping to move next door to them when the bungalow comes up for sale (soon I hope!)
8. Used a 5p off a litre of petrol voucher a friend gave me to fill up, shame the petrol station in question is one of the most expensive in the area, but I guess it made it 'normal' prices instead.....
9. Reading a few good books at the moment and really enjoying them all
10. The house didn't take long to tidy up in anticipation of our friends coming over on Saturday, there must be something in this regular housework lark...wonder how long I'll keep it up for??!
Hope everyone has a great Monday x0 -
Sparrer you have a gorgeous doggie! (And what a lot of fur!!!)
Cat501 Great news about DS, must have been such a worry for you. Hugs.
VJsmum sorry to hear about your visit. Hugs. Probably completely different reason but I nearly always cry when I leave my mums.(Don't see her anything like as often as I would like and feel very sad leaving esp now she's getting older and rather frail)
Had a good though rather quiet day yesterday.
1. Friend popped over as she had promised to help with my knitting and have a good natter. We sat together on sofa like a couple of old dears and clicked away!
2. I cooked a cheesy flan for lunch, recipe from another friend that I'd had for a while but never cooked before. Needed a bit longer baking blind before filling with the eggy, cheesy mixture I think, but still very tasty.
3. Another friend who has just had a hysterectomy texted to say she's feeling loads better and is now on the mend. (SHe was in hospital at the time of a recent noro virus outbreak and had to come out earlier than she otherwise would have done)
4. Not very OS but started burning a Neom Christmas candle I bought when they had a 20% off code. Smells just like I remember CHristmas to smell from when I was a child, of cloves, cinnamon and orange. Gorgeous!
5. Knitting friend introduced me to the delights of audible. She listens to books on there while knitting, so I will give it a go from my phone.
Have a great Monday everyone!0 -
Lots of lovely weekend pleasures to read about! I agree Broomstick we all have different degrees of pleasure & it is so nice to be able to share! (and I'm nosey so love hearing what everyone else is up to!!)
1.Starting later (by half hour) at work. Finishing earlier too! (by 2 hours) and I went on time!
2.Stopped at Salvos on way home & spent the grand sum of 50cents (31p) on a very nice food magazine!
3.Came home & DS presented me with many requests for money for school! I looked at them & sat them to the side!! 'Voluntary' fees, school course fees, Year 12 (like 6th form) jacket....class of 2012 with their name/nickname on it!, book lists, compulsory school camp fees.....this is for State education! Multiply by 3 children and it would make your hair curl.....so the pleasure was putting them on table for a few days and starting a new book!!
4.DD's 15th birthday, so had a tea when she got in from school. I made a pavlova, egg sandwiches, cookies & birthday pancakes. Posh glasses too! Dress code casual!! Then I went for my first.......
5.Bath in ages!! Soaked, read, snoozed, topped up water, snoozed, read for about 2 hours!! Lovely!!
Enjoy your day, M x
Hugs if you need one x0 -

4. Catching up on TV programmes
5. Coming home to a cleanish house0 -
Broomstick wrote: »It really struck me just now about how much diversity there is in things to be thankful for and celebrate: from mhagster's dress code:'pretty'/lemon-coconut slice to Cat 501's DS coming off drips and oxygen in hospital... and everything in between. It's the stuff that makes life worth living and the life itself. Ok, end of 'thought for the day'!!!
So true Broomstick - and that is why I love this thread
I was out most of yesterday so here were my 5 for yesterday:
1. Lovely sunny day. Had gorgeous long run in the sun and felt all the better for it
2. Topped up with some cheap items from Aldi/Lidl/Home Bargains
3. Was at a wedding evening do last night. I rarely have the chance to get all dressed up these days so it was lovely to be able to.
4. Caught up with some old work colleagues last night and met some lovely people
5. In the days of yore a wedding event would have been an expensive one for me - new dress, wedding present, taxi there and back etc. This time it was done on the cheap - no need for a new dress (I have more than enough anyway), present was a 're-gift' (old present I didn't want but thought the couple would really like), and I didn't drink so drove us there and back saving on a taxi. Very happy!
Will be back later to post today's 5!0 -
Afternoon all!! Bleugh, another dull day weather-wise! It's ten to four and almost dark!!
Mine for today
1. Got up early, washed and hung up 2 loads before work
2. Sent OH off to work with packed lunch and packed tea as he isn't home til late..keeps him out of the hospital canteen!
3. On the other hand, I forgot to talk lunch, so indulged in my (rare) guilty pleasure- a Starbucks cheese and marmite pannini  Didn't buy a drink though, made myself a cup of tea in my office instead
4. Got some RTC chicken in the Co-op. Now need to find somewhere to put it in the rather packed freezer!Note to self: start eating out of freezer
5. Lovely email from one of my counselling colleagues to arrange a catch up and coffeeNeed to chat to her about psychoanalytic training, which is what I really want to do next. More

So glad to see both old and new faces on here when I pop in intermittently.
1) The Bulgarian/Portuguese style knitting is going well and I have now managed to make some fingerless gloves for a friend for Christmas.
2) Marshmallows left out on the table today by someone at work. Had four.
3) This evening's meal is the same as last night but with chilli and kidney beans mixed in, so no actual cooking. And there are gluten free brownies left.
4) Sci Fi and Fantasy Book Club this evening, so some interesting discussions to listen in to (I don't often open my mouth in case I reveal my ignorance) and I got the book off Amaz@n for 50p plus postage.
5) Someone sat and looked over my shoulder at work today. It was one of those "can you show Freda how we do it here?" things that gets sprung onto a person from time to time. I felt a bit shaky at first but she was very affirming and even took some of our stuff back with her, so I think it went ok.
And a sneaky 6th - the lovely bunch of flowers I bought for £1.88 to cheer up the table last weekend when DD came home and padded out with ivy from our garden is still looking fresh. It's a real treat on a damp November day.0
