  • Good evening all !

ginger snap - I know, I keep saying it ... brave one , but you really are x x
Your hens must be quite refined, compared to mine . One of mine, the tiny brazen red one , has been caught red handed on the work top in the kitchen stuffing herself full of grapes and cheese by OH :)

CCP- totally get the CBA re the essay. Bet you tidy out your sock drawer and kitchen cupboards instead of getting down to it...;)

    5 for today

    1. Day off !

    2. Mr. T vouchers redeemed online for restaurant vouchers and two tickets to go racing.

    3. Went grocery shopping and came back with many rtc bargains.

    4. Made a steak and mushroom pie in the slow cooker for OH and my Mum , with the left over pastry I made some cheese straws , I also made some rock cakes at OH's friends request . They turned out a bit like cow pats but he said that they tasted OK.But with the price of butter as high as it is , I would have force fed him either way :rotfl:

    5. Put the washing out on the line the idiot in the neighbouring garden once again had a stinky bonfire at 1pm . Luckily it had dried as I didn't fancy my work clothes smelling of it.

Have a fantastic weekend all xx
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A

VJsmum well done on the jumper. I have just started getting into knitting...where do you find best for cheap supplies? I'm finding it all quite expensive.

    Thanks - I use Kemps

Today, i wore for the first time a cardi / long jacket i'd made. My friend was wel gel - she said "ooh, i'd pay £50 for one of those" she nearly fainted when i told her you could pay £200 for a hand knitted cardi of the type.

I read that and my first thought was 'has he always previously done his lectures standing up, then?'. I work at a university, too, so there's no excuse for me being so slow! :o

It seems loads of us work in Universities.

    Mine for today

    1. Day off
    2. Wearing my new knitted cardi (bit sad i know)
    3. Having a bit of a cooking sesh
    4. Keeping my shopping in reign and getting £9 off
    5. Watching Children in Need and counting my blessings

    Have a good weekend all
I wanna be in the room where it happens
  • Sorry it's a quick post, just feeling a bit off par with a winter bug.

    1. We decided to put together a few claims for PPI, nothing ventured nothing gained and no expectations.
    2. A nice autumnal walk
    3. Getting my bum into gear and digging some clothes out, I’ve got into the habit of wearing the same things.
    4. Looking forward to a nice trip out tomorrow, as DH would like me choose something for my birthday next week, combining the petrol with a visit to the in laws also which will be lovely as I really enjoy their company and stories.
    5. The Christmas movie channel on Sky, that’s me set!
  • Ginger Snap - I hope you start to feel better soon :(

CCP - love the boots!! And great price too! I would get a pair if I a) had money and b) didn't already have 5 pairs of boots already. (I might have even more actually...:o )

    Purple kitten
    - good luck with the claims. I just sent off a letter to our bank this week to try and claim back bank charges. Fingers crossed!

    1. Had a nice lunchtime cuppie with a good friend and 4 chocolate biscuits

    2. Me and my brothers managed to find and buy a great deal on a new TV for my mum for Christmas

    3. Baked salmon for tea (got a good deal from fish van on Tues) and made scones again. Yum!

    4. A big parcel of kids toys arrived from Brand Alley for my nieces and nephew for Christmas - I got them well cheap at the time (as you may know, Brand Alley takes aaaaaages to deliver stuff) and they are lovely.

    5. Treated myself to the Amazon kindle deal of the day for £1.29 :)

    3. Popped into Waitrose at lunch time and got a packet of fruit pastels and a roll of nice christmas paper for free, thanks to some vouchers I had been sent
    4. Spoke to the marketing manager today about the lovely book I want and he is going to try to sort one out for me on Monday:j

    2) Took brother's dog for a walk.

    3) Had lunch at mum and dad's.

Ginger Snap my mutt is a 9 y/o German Spitz Mittel, he was one of the first blue and white GSM's in the UK, had a couple of homes, (one not such a good one :() before he went to my DD who shows/breeds them. Unfortunately her other male is the alpha so to stop the 'unpleasantness' which was starting between the two he came to stay with me until DD found him a permanent home. That was nearly 5 years ago.....:D. No idea how to do a link or put a picture on I'm afraid.

    1. After a shaky start to the day I went to a dear friend who is a good listener and speaks a lot of common sense
    2. Had a phone call from another friend when I got home, lots of love in the call
    3. Yet another friend phoned - the caring is unbelievable
    4. Spent the evening with more friends. What a wonderful network of supportive friends I have
    5. Just got in and the strength of the people around me will see me through a situation which seemed such a disaster this morning, but has dimished as the day has gone on.
    6. Having this forum to share so much good, in so many diverse ways, with so many lovely people

    Sleep well

    My five pleasures for Friday:

    1. Listening to a couple of episodes of the radio repeat of the serialisation of 'To Serve Them All My Days' on iplayer.

    2. Getting lots of tidying done in the house and stuff to the dump for recycling. There's plans for more tomorrow.

    3. Popping in to the shops and having a good look round but only buying the little things I'd gone there for.

    4. It was a bought one, but the salmon quiche for supper with baked spuds and salad was very tasty.

    5. Loving being in town at dusk. It's so pretty: Cotswold stone, stone slate roofs, large grassy spaces, old churches, and as it heads towards winter the place seems even more old-fashioned. We are really lucky.

    Sweet dreams
    B x

PS Sparrer, I'm glad your difficult day got better with eveyone's help.

sparrer : have a hug all the way from here!

In bed early as have had a bit of an upset tummy (TMI!!)

1.We had another HUGE storm last night, massive thunder rumbles & lightening across the sky....the pleasure? It so cooled the hot, hot heat! Has continued to rain heavily all day & I love the sound of the rain on the roof & just listening to it just now from my bed, with the window open, as it falls through the trees & the birds are still singing away!

    2.Did have Saturday Scone!

3.Reasonable shop at Aldi & managed to persuade OH that we did not need something at $25.00!

4.Had a clear out of clothes & sorted through drawers.....all in the line of trying to find the birthday card for DD1 that MIL had given me whilst at home! Took a big bag to Salvos, returned library books, got OH to get suitcases down(even though I knew they were empty) to check for card......then found it in a pile of Christmas cards, I took home but brought back!! I had also left a pile in my UK house with 2nd class stamps on them to be posted in Dec, but these were 'special' cards that still need a photo to go in them.....keeping up?

5.DD1 wanted to get a particular pair of shoes, we went to the outlet stores nearby but they were not particularly cheap enough! So told her , that ,no, I was not prepared to pay that amount if she wants to go halfers that's fine.....as she does NOT like spending her own money (sensible child who we are not sure where that trait comes from!) she decided that she did not really want them quite as much! But managed (as I do like to buy things!!) to get some Burts Bees products in a cosmetic discount place at really crazy prices, so have stocked up! They do a great lip balm that is one of the few things that works on DD2's lips. Unfortunately, every now & then her whole top lip gets so inflamed & sore. Nothing else seems to work quite as well at calming them & healing them so I probably have a years supply!

Have a good start to your weekend! I need to get a decent night's rest as have a houseful of teenage girlies coming for afternoon tea tomorrow to celebrate DD1's birthday.....so an early good night from me x

    3. I got through to the second interview stage & they said interview was very good! Yaaaaay my preparation and practicing has paid off! Yay!
    4. Collected my big brother from the bus station and he seems really well (he has some mental health issues that are debilitating :( but he appears to be doing really well at the moment. For that Im truly thankful.
    5. Made lovely baguettes for lunch, and then we naughtily shared some chips from the canteen; so only spent £1 on lunch not the £7+ that usually happens (for both of us!) the more lunches we can make= more
£ in the house deposit fund!

So lots of nice things happening, hope nice things are happening in all your worlds too :0)
