5 for yesterday (Weds) - if I can remember now!
1) Smaller son enjoyed swimming with the school.
2) Had a good tidy - cleaned bathroom, cleaned fire out, 2 loads of washing.... which meant I could put off filling in my application form!
3) Took son to barbers and he had a hairs breadth off. :-S
4) Sister's school got an oustanding Ofsted report.
5) MrB came round. :-)0 -
Very fed up, DH and I went to our appointment with the benefits office and it was just a catalogue of disasters, we got there for 9.50am as instructed, and the lady apparently doesn’t even get into work until gone 10!
Half an hour later we are told they have no record of us, and they will start it all from today, meanwhile I am not having this and say straight I applied over a month ago and can prove it so they have done it from that date. I was then told I should have applied 3 months ago when I first finished my role, however admittedly it’s over 15 years since I have had to make a claim and I always thought you had to wait.
They didn’t want any of the information we went out of our way to gather for them P60’s etc etc, all in all it was useless we spent an hour filling in the third book come form and hope that is it, to be told they don’t deal with council tax or housing, honest to god it truly was a shambles truly awful to deal with.
1. After that palava we popped around the corner for a cuppa tea and snack at a cheap cafe.
2. Then popped to the 99p shop next door.
But then - We got back to the car to find a police sticker on the window, drawing attention to our old banger in the first place, telling us that the GPS holder is visible I was livid by this point!
3. Warming up with a mug of comfort drink de stressing hot chocolate
4. Pleasures yet to come, I will make tea of sweet and sour chicken with chips, then,
5. Popping out later for a top up shop before the weekend rush at the shops, just need some milk and cooking bacon, unfortunately it also means we have to get some petrol!0 -
Evening all!
I won't go on for too long about my trip, but here's a brief synopsis:
2 months in Asia - Burma, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia
10 months in South America - Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and Brazil
Whilst away I spent quite a lot of time in Bolivia, which I loved, writing my first novel which I will publish on Amazon in the New Year. I'm currently writing my second one this month as part of the National Novel Writing Month challenge.
My 5 for today:
1. Getting a normal result from my recent smear test. Having had an abnormal result in the past, that made me very happy.
2. Discussing the work situation with the friend I'm subcontracting for and finding that he will have enough work for me for the foreseeable future, even though I'll have to reduce my hours.
3. Being treated to lunch at the pub - red pepper hummus with olive bread plus spicy chickpea patty. Yum!
4. Yummy nut cutlet, veg, mash and garlic gravy tonight - delicious!
5. Finding a very useful site to help me set up the dog-walking business I'm thinking about establishing next year.Life is not a dress rehearsal.0 -
Good evening all!
hawthorn -when can you move in??:Dpurplekitten -what a "pants day" you have had ! I used to support people to claim benefits and I can honestly say that JC plus gave me a different answer each time I called them, claims were lost , staff not where they were supposed to be , but my clients were b*******d if they did not turn up for appointments. It was always a fight. Gatekeeping..However I am sure that some people must have had positive dealings with them?
5 for today
1. Woke up with just a whisper of a headache which dissipated as the day went on . It was the 8pm bedtime that got shot of it. Thanks all for your kind words -glad to hear that I am not the only "shoes in fridge" person then!
2.Two site visits today. It nearly went pear shaped as my printer err wasn't . I printed off my report that I needed for the meeting with a minute to spare . Luckily the site was just 2 minutes away from my home .
3. The first meeting could have been explosive - the provider got very angry and spikey at first, having read my report they then realised that they needed to just get on with the improvements to get our business, so to speak. I took my lovely admin lady as the provider can "twist" things and I needed a witness.
4. Second visit finished on time, went like clockwork , home in time to put my hens in and feed them prawn crackers.
5. Belly stretching scampi and chips for tea. I went without tea yesterday so I was famished !
Have a good evening all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Evening all.
1) The lovely lady who stopped me as I was pulling out of my driveway this morning to tell me that the main junction was closed off and I'd have to go round the other way. :T
2) The plumber was back for another go at fixing my leaky sink (third time lucky, I'm hoping), much to the joy of the mog as the plumber always makes a big fuss of him.
3) As I had to come home to let the plumber in I did the last 90 minutes of my working day at home, which is always pleasant.
4) Made a banana cake for a charity cake sale tomorrow, using up some over-ripe bananas.
5) Got an email from M&S, where I got my lovely fluffy boots, saying they're having a 25% off sale, so I'm going to order another pair in a different colour. :money:
Hugs to all who need them, particularly you, Purple kitten.Back after a very long break!0 -
1. Had a wander round a new and very expensive Whole Foods Market shop, enjoying the sight and smell of the lovely food but not buying anything.
2. Finally felt organised and brave enough to phone someone to look at my washing machine which has been broken since July:o
3. Getting the last laugh on DDs who went into gales of hysterical laughter when I told them "Cave Rescue" was the 6th emergency service in the UK, in answer to a question on Pointless:D
4. Cheese and broccoli pasta for tea which was ultra cheap for me because DD2 had bought the pasta for a psychology experiment:)
5. Getting back on this board after a few days of feeling too sleepy to do anything.:D
6. Finding an unopened bar of Dairy Milk someone left behind while tidying up the remnants from my party last week:jEspecially good as the Triple Choc Mars Bar I was looking forward to apparently contains traces of peanut:(
7. An early-ish night to come, finish re-reading Tim Moore's "Spanish Steps".0 -
