kittikins, MHags, I do agree, no point in getting into anyone's bad books
I just hoped it would improve. It did, at the end of the last page...
CCP hope your headache goes now
chicken I almost picked up one of SH's books but decided it was just too heavy for bedtime reading
Hugs Frith hope you feel brighter in the morning
1. Changed the alarm tone of my phone to The Eagles singing Take it Easy. What a great way to be woken up
2. Sorted out one of the chests of drawers, got rid of a few bits and found a black scarf I lost ages ago
3. Finally got round to going through the paperwork from last Junes cruise, shredded 99% of it, and some other very old odds and ends
4. Scrubbed the lounge rug with St@rdrops, looks like new again
5. Excellent meeting this evening with a v good speaker. I was due to take him home but someone else who lives in that direction offered, saving me a round trip of 28 miles
Sleep tight

CCP - hope your head is better now x
Frith - gentle hugs, wish I could wave a magic wand for you x
1. Took OH to physio and without feeling too smug, am really glad I went in with him, poor man was really put through his paces, but hopefully with his snazzy new stick and a trip to the docs to get some medicine to hopefully help his muscles, he'll soon be running and skipping like a spring lamb!
2. Bought DD and OH a 'treat' of basics tortilla chips and scrummy hummous
3. Cooked two meaty and veggie dinners, and the leftovers will feed DD and OH Thursday whilst I'm out
4. Another quiet work day
5. Lovely chat with the librarian and 4 new books to read
6. Great chat with an old neighbour and her little one, nice to catch up with them
7. Lovely email from a friend I've not seen in a while
8. One of the estate agents called to tell me 'secretly' of a bungalow that's coming on the market soon, I'll be the first to view it when it does
9. Saved some money by not going out tonight to a party (Jamie Ol*ver one). OH is exhausted after physio and I didn't want to burden him with babysitting duties, when we could be snuggled up together insteadCall me Florence Nightingale if you will
10. Re-found a very easy bread roll recipe and made the most amazing rolls for DD's packed lunches, nomnomnom (ok, and my tum too!)0 -
Frith- ((hugs)) to you xx:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0

hello, been a more pleasant day, much clearer air & stayed dry after a lot of stormy weather that went on for ages!
1.good day at work
2.on my drive home, I drive down a street that is lined with (as I discovered today) magnolia trees, all coming into bloom today. Quite beautiful.
3.went out for dinner with my husband, nice to catch up after a busy few weeks. I'm away to work before he's up in morning.
4.When I went in to work this morning we had a leaky ceiling from storms last night, I had buckets everywhere, wet floor signs, told people to be careful, then just before I left I stepped right into one of shallow bowls, water went up my trouser leg & I let out such a squeal! Oh how we laughed!!
5.A customer asking me for some Scottish tourist information! Very pleased to help!0 -
I feel strangely apologetic for being away for so long, please can I rejoin your lovely happy thread?
I havent posted since May this year (!!!) but really do have a good excuse, honestly:
Dont know if I said earlier in the year I was having pains in my back and stomach? Well to cut a long story short a blood test in the summer revealed a 82% likelyhood of the return of some form of cancer. (My breast cancer and mastectomy three years ago are not so distant a memory unfortunately, and I was thrown into a bit of a panic at this point). I underwent various tests and an ultrasound and CT scan in September. (Waiting lists are pants!!!) They found a large tennis ball-sized tumour and specialists felt it was cancerous and suggested a full hysterectomy.
I have now had my hysterectomy two weeks ago. Last week the doctor met me for a post-op follow up. To our amazement (hers included) there were actually three lumps, two in the womb itself, but all three by some supreme good fortune are benign.
I can hardly explain how relieved we feel that I do not need to go down the cancer and chemo route again. Seems almost unreal as we had absolutely had to think along pretty grim lines for a few months and were told there was little chance of a happy ending.
ANYWAY, it would be so wonderful now to join in with you all again. I have really missed the positive thinking and support on this thread...
Hugs to you all. Speak soon. xxx0 -
Big hugs Ginger Snap and welcome back. Lovely to have you back with us and what a fantastic relief that you have had good treatment and won't need the horrible stuff x Make sure you take things nice and easy for a lot longer than you feel you should after your hysterectomy, no personal experience, but that of my mother and aunt was that they felt better a lot earlier than they were and it was easy to overdo things.0

Evening all.
Ginger Snap - a huge welcome back! I'll second Kittikin's recommendation that you look after yourself.
Frith - huge hugs to you. I dreamt about you last night (rather strangely, given that we've never met) - we went shopping in a second hand / vintage garden shop together, and found some rather nice terracotta planters with your forum name on them. All very odd!
I'm a bit short of pleasures today as it hasn't been a great day: my headache was still bad enough this morning that I decided not to go into work, and my car's got a flat tyre for the second time in a month and this time the AA refused to help.
1) I took advantage of being at home to do a batch of washing, then draped it over the heated clothes rail which also helped to warm me up. (I've had the shivers all day and just couldn't get warm, even with multiple layers of clothing.)
2) One of the guys from the local, independent garage I always use has offered to come out to my flat tomorrow and fix the flat tyre for me. :A I hate to think how much the bespoke service is going to cost, but I can't think of any other option (and I don't mind quite as much as it will be going to a small company).
3) HG tomatoes for lunch. 90% of the ones I brought inside have now ripened, so I'm back to having piles of lovely HG tomatoes to eat, which is rather nice in November.
4) My headache has now just about gone, although it's left me feeling very tired and fuzzy-headed: I attempted to work on my essay but had to give up after managing just two paragraphs in over two hours.
Have a pleasant evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
It’s been a bit of a weird day, and feeling off colour, but that aside:
I had a phone interview, and while it went fine I don’t feel I gelled with the lady who was asking the questions, so won’t be surprised if it doesn’t progress, I hope to hear tomorrow feedback from the other role I went for on Tuesday tomorrow and am hopeful at least for that one.
Did a bit of tidying in general.
There is a sausage casserole slowly cooking but not sure how well it will turn out.
Looking forward later, to a hot bath, face pack and doing my nails, hoping a bit of pampering will make me feel better if that makes any sense.0 -
Evening lovelies!!
Frith - big hugs xx
and Ginger Snap - a big welcome back! and Wow- what a journey. I can only imagine how you felt going through that, then the sense of relief when you got the results. I am a relative newbie, but already in love with this threadso look forward to getting to know you xx
Mine for today ( I have been working from home, marking, but in reality have been doing anything but!!)
1. Caught up with housework, much to the disgust of GSD, who kept getting moved for plonking herself in the way and glaring at me, bless her- she hates any sort of disruption to her routine!
2. So once I had finished, I took her to the horses for a play and she got v muddy, which kind of reversed #1. ! She was very happy smiley though, must take a pic one day:)
3. Got the furminator out and de-fluffed GSD, then decided I was on a roll and tackled Oldie, who was looking a bit feral. Oldie doesn't *do* grooming, so I fed her first - that way, I only had one end to avoid, not two. Not very OS, as I used a bucket of mane and tail conditioner on her messy tail!!
4. Made yummy soup- cauli and blue cheese. Fed Mum and Dad with it, they were appreciative
5. Lovely email from a lovely friend that felt like a big cyber cuddle!
Hugs to anyone in need. It's almost the weekend. Huzzah!!0
