Haha- so glad it's not just me! GSD has a stocking, with treats in and she unwraps it with us on xmas morning. She always looks a bit confused, until she realised what's in it, then she does a GSD smile!
Chicken - fabwhat clever Hens!!
I have been badass again today, but it was planned badness. Went to Hobbycrafts at the NEC with Mum - she went into the Cake international bit. I could have gone bonkers, but bought some stuff to make xmas cards for family and close friends and some beady bits to make some xmas pressies, so kind of moneysaving in that it will be cheaper than buying the above!
1. Spent hours mooching at the crafty stuff and got a few bargains and some ideas
2. Took MIL and we had a nice chat, I ought to take her out more as she only has a boy and he never takes her anywhere (note to self, pay more attention to MIL)
3. Day off pones, much as I love them, it is nice to be able to switch off and not be thinking about turning out/bringing in/mucking out/are they warm enough, yadda yadda and I know they are in very safe hands
4. Cuddles with the bunnies- which was nice, except it's worming time and it is a million times easier to worm a 17hh horse than a dwarf rabbit!! I am covered in scratches!
5. Nothing planned tonight, except playing with my crafty bits and maybe making some things for xmas. And maybe a cheeky glass of mulled wine....Mmmmm
Hugs to anyone in need xx0 -
Hello all, and well done Sparrer on having too big trousers! Wish I had that problem.....*sigh
Anyway, past couple of days
1. Did a first aid course yesterday and I now feel a bit more informed (its was quite laid-back and no exam), but at least I now know CPR and a few bits
2. Lovely hugs with OH
3. DD had a great time with my friend on Saturday, they seemed to have wandered around the whole of the city
4. Not so nice, I fell over yet again this morning and have hurt my 'good' leg for a changebut the nice thing is the 2 lovely people who gave me a tissue, bottle of water and helped me. Very nice of them, as lots of people just walked around me like I was drunk or something (no!!). I'm feeling like a very early night is in order tonight as I'm really achy.
5. My friend bought OH and I some amazing vegan chocolates, the tastiest truffles ever known to mankindNow if we could find a good vegan cheese......

Evening all.
1) NSD - the second in a row, which is rare for me. :money:
2) A nice chat on the phone to my DM: we ended up discussing my current OU essay, which is on a topic she knows a fair bit about, and she's given me a few good ideas of what to write about. :T
3) Made a spiced plum and apple crumble which looks quite promising - I'm not usually much good at making crumble, but I hope the tips I've picked up from this forum might have helped me crack it this time.
4) The lovely autumnal smell of my kitchen - plum and apple crumble, chickpea and onion soup, and fireworks from outside.
5) Sitting here sipping a cider: naughty of me, on a school night, but very nice.
Kittikins - I hope your poor leg recovers right now <snaps fingers hopefully>.
Back after a very long break!0 -
Good evening all !
millie - does your GSD have one of those actual "smile" dog chews then? I think they are hilarious. Enjoy playing with your precious, ( I would do the Gollam (sp) voice for you if you could hear me) pretty crafting things.
5 for today
1. Three lots of washing almost dried on the line outside.
2. Spent most of the day outside and composted the dead french beans . I found one solitary bean on it and couldn't waste it. Used the spent grow bag compost to put in my raised beds as beans are nitrogen fixers .Ditto with one of the courgette plants that did not fair well this year.
3.My ancient hen gobbling up some "bloated" blackberries that I picked for her .I do hope she is around next year to enjoy them, we would have had her for 6 years in March 2012.
4.Spent some time looking through some downshifting sites to get some inspiration.
5. Repeat of Downton Abbey earlier this afternoon , as I fell asleep last Sunday when it was on.
kittikins- poor you, you must have been pretty shaken x ((hugs))
Have a good evening all x:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
kittikins- hope you are ok xx
chicken - hahaha and no, no smiley chew, but I think she needs oneI am just about to traumatise her now by bringing the rabbits in for cuddles. Poor dog is scared of them....

Chickenopolis: I didn’t have the jab last year as I forgot, I can honestly say I have never been so ill to the point I was thinking is my will in place, I wouldn’t wish whatever strain of flu it is on anyone, I didn’t feel the injection but I admit I had an achy arm yesterday, but I am fine today. I think a lot of employers offer it, I am offered it because of a weakened immune system due to asthma steroids.
A lovely long lay in.
A bacon and egg brunch with bacon mis-shapes from the butcher
Whipped up a batch of cupcakes
Actually sat and watched a film
Looking forward to a lovely hot bath, then doing my nails.0 -
Thank you for the info CCP, will have a word with DD first as she does the dogs claws but she isn't keen on cats. Otherwise it's worth £15'ish at the vet. Do you use rolled oats in your crumble? An ounce in place of an ounce of flour can help the mixture rub to a better crumbly texture, as can adding a little sprinkling of demerara sugar into the mix. Hope yours turns out well this time
MHags I hear you re the television, isn't it wonderful not to be deafened? I'm a bit hard of hearing but DM has it at house-shaking volume! Hope your DM went home feeling better
Chicken I knew hens were intelligent, but wow, wrapped too! Smart hens. Congrats on keeping the trousers until they fit you
Millie I understand the GSD smile, they and the Spitz are the only dogs I know who do it so well. Worming/de-fleaing time here too, the Spitz and boy cat are fine with it, the girl is a biatch, spits, scratches, struggles - and all I'm doing is putting a drop of liquid between her shoulder blades
(((Hugs))) Kittikins, oh dear your poor leg. Hope it's better now. Well done on doing the first aid course, It doesn't take long and I think everyone should do it from time to time.
1. Lovely long shower this morning, just sometimes it feels so good I could stand there for ever!
2. Phone call from DB - such an unusual occurence I hold my breath til he's told me why he's phoning! Fortunately it was just to arrange what we're going to do with DM at C********s as he and DSiL have been invited out. I told him to accept, they've done a big family C for years so it'll be lovely for them not to have to do it. That just leaves me to decide what I'm going to do with her
3. Good lunchtime meeting with friends
4. Was going to join friends for a meal but discovered I've mislaid my debit card. Went home to hunt for it, phoned the last shop I used it in, eventually had to admit defeat and report it missing. The girl on the phone was lovely, very calm, and had endless patience when I gave her my ISA number instead of bank account number by mistake. She sorted it all out, confirmed no-one has used/tried to use it and a new one is on its way.
5. Coast. A lovely gentle start to the week
