    Had a good day yesterday

    1. Tidied the house - the hall first and it was tidy till DH came in and dumped his bag there!

    2. Had a sleep in the afternoon.

    3. Cooked lasagna using the mince I cooked the day before, and almond and apple pud for freezer. - with apples picked from orchards.
    4. DS2 feeling better.

    5. A NSD

Oh Sparrer - I very much hope i can write your no.5 one day, hope it doesn't take 7 years tho. Not that i'm not grateful for what i have, but a reduction in chaos might be nice.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

    Evening all.

    1) NSD.

    2) I managed the drive over to Sowf'ampton (well, that's how I pronounce it, being a Portsmouthian (at least by adoption) ;)) for my OU tutorial without getting lost and only once getting in the wrong lane in the rather bewildering city centre road layout. :)

    3) Received a £10 voucher for doing surveys which will go towards the rather smart pair of fleece-lined boots I've had my eye on for a while.

    4) Watching the mog jump off the sofa without leaving a leg behind - the trauma of last night's manicure seems to have been worth it.

    5) Watching a neighbour's very pretty fireworks from my bedroom. (I learnt my lesson about watching fireworks outside a few years ago, when one from a neighbour's garden went off at the wrong angle and hissed six inches past my ear and into one of my windows.) Luckily my mog isn't the slightest bit concerned about fireworks: he just rolls his eyes at my excitement, curls up and goes back to sleep. :o

I hope everyone's had a very pleasant day.
Back after a very long break!

VJs mum - pleased that you are feeling a bit better :)

I have been a bit rubbish again today

    1. Lovely day out with Mrs Ponycarer in Cheltenham

    2. Unfortunately, Mrs Ponycarer is a terrible influence and made me drink wine at lunchtime and then buy a string of rubies at the gem and bead fair, but I am counting this as OS because it was cheaper than the ruby earrings that I wanted to buy and I can make some earrings out of it for xmas pressies too and OH paid as he'd told me to treat myself. Bon.

    3. Found a reduced leather lead for GSD for her xmas pressie (yes, I am daft)

    4. Ditto some lovely books for xmas pressies, but mum snaffled them to give to family as xmas pressies, same thing, kind of.

    5. Staying in tonight with the animals. Thankfully GSD ain't bovvered about the fireworks, but I still like to be with her, so will have some big cuddles with her
  • I’m not sure it’s a pleasure but I got up this morning and got my flu jab done at the doctors as I’ve got asthma also, whilst it’s no fun and a wee bit achy, I did catch the flu last year and can honestly say I thought / felt like I was at deaths door, so if you are offered a jab please do take it / I forgot to last year.

Made a small brekkie whilst just making sure no horrible side effects from the above.

We caught a park and ride into a town we don’t go into that often and the change of scenery was lovely, it was nice wandering around we mainly people watched – it was very busy rather than shopped, the only shopping was 3 big bags of crisps from the 99p shop and a 2 vast bags of bacon mis-shapes from the butcher.

Fish and Chips in a cafe and they were lovely not at all greasy.

That big cup of tea and collapsing into the sofa when you get back feeling.

The house backs onto the field the scout hut uses for fireworks and are lucky to get the whole show for free each year.

Today was just what was needed, and another pleasure my dad who never ever phones us actually did for once – shocked.

A question for you all who check out the charity and other type shops, have you noticed that they are taking the mickey with how expensive the things are getting in there considering it is pure profit, or is it I am getting old and very tight with the pennies on a lack of income – probably a bit of both I’m guessing!

hello! Sunday morning here, to be even warmer than yesterday so I need to get a wriggle on & get my day started before it heats up too much, mum & aunt leave today so will get all their bedding in wash & will dry in no time!

1.Very early Saturday fruit scone....I thought 7.50am was an excellent time to be sitting in our favourite cafe reading the papers & eating scone & pinching fruit from husband's fruit salad.

2.In Aldi when it opened at 8.30am, got shopping & then went to Woolworths supermarket for rest of things I can't get at Aldi. Got a lot of meat reduced for freezer. And voucher for 10cents off a litre of petrol instead of usual 4 cents.

3.Home & all packed up for beach. It takes a good hour to get to the beach, because of volume of traffic.Busy enough on our usually quieter stretch & got really busy later. It was 33o and first proper hot day, so I guess most folk had the same idea as us. Mum & aunt pleased to have a bit of sun on them......has to do them all winter!!

4.Home, covered in sand (oh, how I dislike the stuff!) so an exfoliating cool shower as soon as we came in! So skin lovely & soft.....that's MSE?....saving fortune on expensive cosmetic products!! We took DD1 to a friend's house for a birthday sleepover.

5.Watched a nice film on TV & then early bed, too much sea air had made me tired!

Have a good weekend! Hope those that were going to Fireworks had a good time. Have tried to phone a couple of friends then realised they will be at my home town's display! Fireworks are illegal to buy in Victoria, organised displays only & 5th November is not 'celebrated'.

VJsmum thank you. Normal chaos I can cope with but my previous was caused by addiction - I'm in recovery and life just gets better and better. Sometimes I sit in my tidy house and long for the sort of chaos the family caused, but they're grown now with homes of their own so now they know what it was like! From her No 1 it looks like villagelife experiences much the same thing! ;)
CCP the firework thing must have been horrible for you at the time :(. I hate the things but my 3 aren't in the slightest perturbed by them. Pleased your mog got over the manicure - my boy has lethal claws and constantly catches everything (skin included) so I've been considering it too. Can I be nosy and ask roughly how much it cost?
Millie I couldn't possibly buy presents for everyone else and not the pets, so I don't think you're daft at all. They also have a little festive dinner of whatever meat and veg we have, don't see why they should be left out
Purple kitten I so agree, I refuse to pay £3.99 for a 2nd hand tee that I can buy new for £3. Even the jewellery section is more expensive than Mr A or mat@lan. Good for you having the flu jab, hope you suffered no side effects.

    1. Woke to yet another sunny morning. It didn't last but was nice to see for a short while.
    2. Hung a line of washing out, just had to take it in to finish drying over the rack. Hope this isn't the last of outdoor drying
    3. Cleared out the summer bedding, planted the pansies I bought yesterday. Also found two pretty shabby chic wall planters I'd stored on top of a wardrobe, my neighbour is going to put them up on the house wall for me. I'm really running out of space now!
    4. Phone call from a friend inviting me to lunch next Tuesday
    5. 3 pairs of trousers in the charity bag as they're too big!!

    Sleep tight

    Sunday's pleasures:

1.Chat & catch up with friend from home.

2.Lots & lots of washing done! Everyone's bedding done, out & mostly dry before the forecast rain came on. Just drizzle but has cooled the air down a bit.

3.Farewell to my aunt & mum who have had 2.5 weeks here, with very mixed weather! They have a long flight home ahead of them. My mum wasn't feeling very well whilst here but they still managed to get out & about most days. Kids are glad to have their own beds/rooms back! Have been on camp beds/sofa beds/family room.

4.Snooooooooooze on bed as soon as they were away!!

5.Have woken up & air is a bit less hot & humid than what it was! Looking forward to having some control over television tonight & volume at an appropriate level :)
  • Good morning all

Fell asleep at 7.30pm last night so did not get round to posting

millie - re the GSD's Christmas gift - each year I receive a present from the hens which is usually found wrapped ( clever little critters eh??)n their nesting box , which I check each morning when I let them out. They also sign a card for me "To Mum" etc... its a mad world :D

purple kitten- I have been invited to have a flu jab next Saturday - the jury is out as some people say how horrid it makes them feel and some say that they are glad that they have had it as they have not caught flu. I am a little paranoid as I have never been asked to have one before and I am unsure why I have been asked tbh..

CCP- call me tight and miserable but I hear all the loud rockets and think that must have cost a few quid :o what a waste

    5 for yesterday

    1. Found a pair of nice trousers that I had purchased in 1999 in a CS which now fit beautifully. They will be my "new" work trousers.

2.£5 off £40 spend voucher in my Mum's paper.

    3. My brother and his wife and children visited - they said that they had been having a discussion about who they would like to raise their children in the event of anything happening to them . They said that they had chosen me to undertake this responsibility as they feel I am the most "steady" person in the family . The children had also "agreed" to this - I think it was a discussion following the awful incident on the M5 .I am flattered .

    4. My Mum came round with the dog for a few party snacks ( 60 piece set for £2) the dog is scared of the fireworks but she didn't bat an eyelid .

    5. Fell asleep at 7.30pm and so did my Mum - her sleep was induced by a large glass of port and lemonade :)

Have a good day all x
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A

Of course you can - it was £15 and some pennies, and will apparently need doing every six months or so. I know some people, both on the forum and in RL, who clip their cats' claws themselves, so it might be worth asking your vet to show you how to do it if yours is fairly laid-back about having his paws handled.

Millie - there's definitely nothing odd about buying presents for pets: my DSis phoned me the other day to ask which of two brands of cat treats I thought the mog would most like for Christmas. :rotfl:
