Oh no CCP, poor Mog :( Hope the drugs sort him ASAP. Why do these things tend to flare up out of hours and end up costing £££ ? And poor lady - everyone expected me to do vet science, but I couldn't have handled it, get far to emotional :cuddle:
  • I can hang my knickers out now, secure in the knowledge that no-one else knows what colour they are.
    :rotfl:

    Patchwork Quilt - priceless :D

CCP-I am so sorry to hear about your cat. I hope he gets better soon .

Frith good luck tomorrow. Just think of what your life is like now x

    5 for today

    1. It was hot, hot, hot here in my garden this afternoon . I spent a few hours trimming the branches that OH cut down from the maple tree . There is now a pile of bare sticks and a pile of leaves.

    2. Washed and dried sheets and pillow cases on the line .I am so sad as I am actually looking for things to wash in this lovely weather .

    3. Thai red curry for tea and added some beans from the garden .

    4. "My" bonfire was still going strong at 5.45am in its little dustbin with holes in it -according to OH .

    5. Looking forward to River Cottage Veg tonight, instead of the usual animal massacre . Although I eat meat , if I lived on my own I would not bother buying it.

    Good night all xx

    Evening all,

CCP - please give Puddy-tat a cuddle for me... poor lad.

I've really enjoyed today... despite getting to the library half an hour after they closed for the second day in a row. And finding a family of mice in my gardening cupboard. They will be evicted forthwith.

    1) Enjoyed the rugby... always good to see the Wallabies getting a hiding.

    2) Rearranged my lounge and tidied.

    3) Pottered in the garden this afternoon... until I discovered the furry things... at which I screamed and scampered upstairs.

    4) Making a batch of Pear and Walnut chutney, tomato sauce, banana bread and cherry jam

    5) Chatting to my mum on Skype.

    6) Bopping around the kitchen to Xfm.

Hope you all have a great week. Wrap up warm as it is forecast to get decidedly chilly.

    L

ETA: Forgot to add te walnuts in the chutney so it is just pear chutney... but I don't think that matters and didn't have enough eggs for the banana bread (Chicken - where are you when I need you????)

And... received an email re the fabulous potential job... I think they may offer it to me tomorrow. :D if they don't I am going to be devastated :(
    Man plans and God laughs...
Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

Thanks for the kind thoughts, all - the mog's currently dozing on the sofa, having been awake all day, so it looks like the drugs are working and making him feel more comfortable. :)

Millie - I did notice that one of the vet nurses was clearly fighting back tears after the lady left: I guess, no matter how much training you've had, it must still get to you sometimes. I couldn't do the job myself, but I'm very grateful that there are people who can and will. :T
Back after a very long break!

Frith - hugs and good luck for tomorrow x

Ladyhawk - update the thread as soon as possible please tomorrow, I'm on tenterhooks here and I'm sure lots of others will be too, hoping you get the sparkly new job :)

CCP - big hugs to kitty, hope all's well very soon

    1. The sunshine - not as hot as yesterday but still very lovely to be sitting outside in tshirt and shorts on 16th October :)

    2. Got a load of washing dry on the line and have left more to the dew tonight, here's hoping for dry weather again tomorrow!

    3. Did yet more tidying up and decluttering and the house still looks like a s*dding tip, but I know (even if noone else can tell) that I've made big inroads into the mess......there are now 3 walk-in cupboards that now have floors rather than piles of tut! Yay!!!

    4. Made my first recipe from the HFW veggie book - macaroni peas (anyone else remember The Fast Show - yup, it was cheesy peas with pasta, nomnomnom). Going to peruse it for something yummy for tomorrow

    5. Cheery texts from OH who sounds like he's not had a particularly cheery weekend with his stroppy son, teenagers eh?!? But good for me that he's not too down about it. Must be all those hugs I sent by telepathy...

    6. Just found a load of fab-sounding games to play with my Rainbows at our trick or treat night this week :)

    7. A friend of a friend who I know a bit gave me a load of guiding tops as she's no longer a leader. Lovely nice warm long-sleeved tops and fleeces, yay! This winter I won't be chilly in our guide hut :)

    8. A lovely friend popped over early afternoon and we shared some vino and played ludo with DD (she was on apple juice)

    9. DD wrote a lovely thank you letter to friends who brought us lots of presents

    10. Stephen Fry progamme is absolutely fascinating tonight

    11. DD and I are making inroads into turning the spare room into a 'study', she seems to be appreciative of my efforts to get tidier as she sat at her desk and wrote and coloured this afternoon.

    12. We're enjoying reading Dickens at bed time

    13. Not much of a pleasure, but my friend helped me by putting up some suitcases and boxes into the loft. That's a pleasure, but not being able to close the flipping loft hatch as I think the latch is broken :( is not great......especially as I have the original slate roof and it gets oh so chilly upstairs!!! There's a handyman in the village who's son is in DD's class, so will have to scrape together some moolah and ask him to come and do some bits for me, including that, asap.

    14. Whilst it's rather chilly tonight, I'm determined not to put the heating on, so DD is wearing her fleecy jimjams in bed and I'm snuggled up on the sofa with a blanket around my legs - silly me still wearing my shorts at this time of night! Too bone idle to go and get some jimjams on.... :)

    15. Hoping for another night's sleep; apart from waking up at 6 each morning which isn't the end of the world, I've now had 3 better sleeps since Thursday than I have had in ages. Woohoo!!! It's amazing how different life feels when you actually sleep.

    16. Nearly forgot - today was a NSD. After yesterday's Te$co's extravaganza, it certainly needed to be!!

    Sleep well everyone!

5 or so for today (Sunday).

    1) Waking up with MrB. But not for long as he left before 7 for the long drive home to get to rugby practice.

    2) Bacon sandwiches for breakfast.

    3) Popped to get some toys for the new kitten. :-) He's still ace.

    4) Watched Back to the Future in front of the stove (I don't think it's been very warm here today).

    5) School friend came for tea.
  • 1. Sorted out my food cupboard so it's nice and organised and I kno what food I have.
    2. Cooked lots of meals to freeze and now have 6 reused takeaway tubs full in the freezer as well as a portion of lasagne waiting for me in the fridge for tomorrow.
    3. Cleaned my bath and it now sparkles-without the need for cleaner-I just gave it a good scrub
    4. Sorted out my utility room so it's tidy
    5. I now have a cat snuggled at my feet keeping me warm

    Evening

    Pleasures for the last couple of days;

    1. Received £3 Luncheon Vouchers in the post and some free tea bags. Also picked up two copies of a lovely story book for free, will go in nieces and friends DD's christmas present. Love MSE :money:
    2. Picked up 10 bars of posh chocolate RTC to 29p a bar and have a best before of end Jan 2012 so have put away for christmas
    3. Paying my credit card bill in full without touching the savings account that had the money in for one of the purchases made.
    4. Took DD shopping yesterday to get her birthday present as she is 16 on the 25th. She picked a Thomas Sabo bracelet which whilst not cheap is cheaper than the Links bracelet that she originally wanted. Also got her some clothes in H&M which we used the gift vouchers from the offer they had recently.
    5. Lunch with DD whilst shopping and used a voucher from clubcard to pay for most of it.
    6. DD helping in the kitchen today we made dinner, bread and an almond and raspberry tart. Yummy

Hugs to all who need them

    Today's pleasures:-
    1. A blissful lie-in to a sinfully late hour.
    2. Seeing my DGD play (very well) Mr Banks in a local children's theatre production of Mary Poppins.
    3. Getting nicely caught up with all the boring adminny bits of my e-tutoring job.
    4. A lovely free-range chicken for tea, with yellow label fresh veggies.
    5. Cutting open my 50ml tube of a really nice free hair conditioner sample to find more than enough to do my hair.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

CCP hugs to (((poorly moggie))), it's horrid when they're unwell and you feel helpless to do anything
Ladyhawk we will all be waiting with bated breath for your next post!
Frith I'll say one for you tonight, hope tomorrow goes your way
Rainy-Days how dare they change the recipe of something which wasn't even their invention in the first place? That makes me so cross. There are one or two decent brands who haven't messed it about, if you've a Lidl nearby there own is really quite acceptable
Kittikins the programme was good as usual, and so was/is Steven Fry. Isn't he just the epitome of an English gentleman, and isn't it a great shame he's one of the last of his type?
Tealady well done on a grreat haul of freebies/ rtc's :)

    1. Sitting at the breakfast table, eating and chatting with DS and DGS. Nothing OS or MS, just had to mention it as it was a real pleasure
    2. I went to a good meeting at lunchtime while DS went to ref for a Sunday league game. Prob not the right terminology but you get the picture :o
    3. A snack lunch for all of us, then they had to go. So sad, back to the quiet of my little house until the next visitors. Let's see, who can I invite now? ;)
    4. Planted two large packs of narcissi around the dwarf conifers
    5. Stripped the guest beds, they're on econ 7 to be washed overnight. Hoping the forecast is correct!

    Night night, sleep tight
