5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

  • 1) One of my pleasures has to be reading my way through my favourite threads on this forum and seeing what trouble posters will take to help people out.
    2) Got to the local coffee shop in time for their bacon butty offer - butty and coffee for £3.95. It's basic but it saves about £6-7 on a later brunch and we still have the pleasure of sitting somewhere different and chatting. They even had gluten free bread for me.
    3) A free fire today from some of the wood we had cut out of the garden last year. It won't last for ever but we might as well put all those overcrowded trees to use.
    4) Crocheting on the sofa whilst DH plays his guitar. We make a point of doing nothing at all on Saturday and making up for it over the rest of the week.
    5) Toast and home made jam for our afternoon snack, then home made fish cakes for tea with bits of left over salad from yesterday. No-one wanted dessert, which was a surprise, so the flapjack will come out again tomorrow.

    Have a peaceful weekend, folks.

    1. Lovely leisurely breakfast with14 y/o DGS, who told me all he's doing at school, then washed his dishes without asking :)
    2. DS, DGS and I went to a nearby town to window shop and have lunch, which DS paid for
    3. Stopped at an aquatic centre which also has small animals on the way home, I was very tempted by all the baby rabbits, then the coops caught my eye and revived my interest in having chickens. I must be sensible, I must be sensible, I must be sensible.............so hard, though!
    4. Had curry for dinner, which I couldn't manage after the bready lunch and bread pud tea, then went to visit DD and family. Watched a hilarious cartoon film, Despicable Me, nice to watch something silly with no blood and violence (well, only the cartoon sort!)
    5. Popped in to see DGD1 who I haven't seen for months as she's now living away from home, at college and working two jobs in the evenings and weekends. She's just as lovely as ever :)
    6. Just feeling very blessed to have the family all close by albeit for a few short days.

    sleep tight

Millie - Sorry to hear that you have shingles :( the rest of your post made me laugh as I have a vivid picture in my mind of the ducks!! Hope you feel better soon x Glad to hear that your mare is enjoying doing the "soft shoe shuffle" in her equiboots.

Thank you xx Pony is not too keen on having her boots on and likes to make it as difficult as possible because they delay her Going Out Time, she neglects to realise that in pratting around so much, she delays her turnout time by a further 5 min. Wisdom doesn't always come with age, evidently. Have had a morning off today...poor yard owner is dealing with her :rotfl:

@ Sparrer - everybody needs a baby rabbit :D and some chickens ;)

I thought I'd try putting some porridge in the slow cooker for breakfast this morning.

Take my advice.....bad idea. Said slow cooker currently soaking to get rid of the thick, gluey mess that my porridge turned into. Sooo, one slice or two kids :D

Eek Millie, I had shingles a couple of years ago. You have my sympathy, and I hope you feel better soon.

    Hugs to everyone else :)
Proud to be dealing with my debts :T

Got to go to court tomorrow (ex-husband strikes again) so must try and do 5 for Saturday to cheer myself up!

    1) Waking up with MrB. :-) The new kitten had used the dip in the quilt between us as a hammock all night!

    2) Cooked breakfast whilst watching the Welshmen watch the rugby.

    3) Sister popped in.

    4) Did very little all day.

    5) Went out for tea. It's something we never do (apart from chips in the car) and bigger son said "It's so weird and exciting to be out when it's dark" :-D

Just watched the rugby! Well done NZ! Not bothered either way since Scotland left!

Another ,typical Melbourne day, with 4 seasons in one day! Was actually hailstoning when I went out to put something in the bin this afternoon! Very windy, rainy & sunny!

    1. Long lie, after a very late night! Watched Casualty on Iplayer.

2.Went out for Sunday scone & read of papers!

3.Bought RTC veg plants in supermarket. This was what we went in for anyway so less than 1/2 original price. DD2 & her dad planted them this afternoon. Sweetcorn, snow peas, tomatoes, aubergine (or egg plant as they call it here!), strawberry. So hope we get a good wee crop from them!

4.Wee snooze this afternoon whilst 'reading' my kindle.

5.Easy tea (biscuits for me!!) and ravioli for the others!
  • Firth, I hope it goes ok tomorrow1.

    Bacon sandwich for brunch
    2. Washing load on the line to dry, as the forecasters if they are to be believed say this will be the last time for a while and judging by how it’s managing to drop from 18 to 4 at night I believe them
    3. Properly cleaned the kitchen surfaces, all of the microwave inside and out, have put a cleaner through the washing machine, and there’s another cleaner running through the dishwasher, the oven is still clean just maintaining it until the next deep clean just before the Christmas cooking.
    4. Put de flea. Wormer, ear mite treatment and cut the claws of the animals, much to their disgust.
    5. Enjoying that the weekend still feels like a weekend despite not currently working, which I am determined is about to change.

This might be a hard one to get to five but I'll have a go

    1. Nice lie in this morning followed by breakfast in bed

    2. Sorted out horses and dogs then cooked Sunday Lunch

    3. Had a rummage around in the cupboard and found loads of Yankee samplers to be used up so those are on the go now. I also had a candle that had lost it's wick so I cut the wax up and put it into a tart warmer and I am getting more use out of that and scent too.

    4. Conservatory is open into the house at the moment as I am trying to garner the heat from there to warm the house through.

    5. Just going to make myself a nice cup of tea. Usually I like an Earl Grey but they changed the chuffin recipe so I shall have a normal brew. Tried to the new version and I hate it so I am taking the box back next week to see if I can get the original version.

    Afternoon all.

Well, my dreadful week continues: I've just got back from the emergency vet as the mog had another attack of his old waterwork problems - that's £150 I won't see again. :(

    1) At least a dose of antibiotics and anti-inflammatories will sort the mog out (although I've got to take him to my own vet for a proper check-up first thing tomorrow) - the poor lady who arrived before me had to have her dog PTS. It nearly had me in tears and I never even met the dog. :(

    2) I can't face cooking tonight but I've got bacon from the butcher and some HM bread, so I might have a bacon buttie later. :)

    3) The grand prix is available on iplayer so I won't miss it despite having spent the afternoon sitting in a waiting room in an obscure corner of Portsmouth.

    4) Had a text from my my sister and she's starting to sound a bit brighter. :j

    5) Picked more HG tomatoes - I keep thinking I should bring the rest inside, but there doesn't seem much point when they're still ripening quite happily outside.

Millie - I hope you and your pony both get better soon.

    Have a pleasant evening, all.
Back after a very long break!
  • It's a beautiful day here too - makes such a difference!

    1) Sunday school went well. I'm not so confident at the craft side of it but I made something up and they seemed to quite like it. They really are such a nice bunch of children.
    2) Roast chicken dinner with our potatoes and kale. Never tried it before and actually, I quite like it. I may be the only one though ...
    3) Digging in the sunshine in the veg patch at the bottom of the garden. The soil here is heavy clay so it was certainly good exercise but very satisfying to see some more of the weeds in the compost bin.
    4) DH is putting the gate up between the front and back at the RHS of the house. He built a fence a while ago but hasn't had time to finish the job. I can hang my knickers out now, secure in the knowledge that no-one else knows what colour they are.

Can't think of a 5th but it's been a good day so far.
