Evening all.Chickenopolis wrote: »I found loads of spiders in the hen house under the roosting bars that looked like black widow spiders but with bulging burgundy bodies  I have never seen this type before and don't wish to again really.
I'm no expert on spiders (and have no wish to be _pale_) but they sound like they might be false black widows - they're not as bad as real black widows but can still give you a nasty bite, so watch your fingers!
1) A long lie-in this morning. I had the vague intention of getting up to watch the grand prix but, when it came to it, I couldn't bring myself to dislodge the mog so I just stayed where I was for a few more hours.
2) Watched the re-run of the grand prix this afternoon - thank goodness for iplayer!
3) Got about two thirds of my essay done - it's not going to win any prizes but I'm happy to settle for 'done' rather than 'good' on this occasion.
4) Had a nice chat to my DF, mostly about gardening - neither of us has had a particularly good year and we were comparing calamities. (One courgette each isn't great going, is it?)
5) I don't feel like cooking tonight but my well-stocked freezer means I can just open the door and pick out what I fancy.
Have a pleasant evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
Damned Jetlag! Wide awake since 3am, so I'm up & showered & dressed & don't start work for a few hours!0

CCP- trust me to get "falsies"eh? Funny you should say that as I was trying to get rid of them with the hose pipe yesterday ( a jet from about 50 ft away ):rotfl: and they weren't having any of it. I thought at the time these were tough little critters . I was too far away to get bitten!!Thanks btw x
Ladyhawk-buy them bothGo on you can tell us ....it was you that won the Euromillions wasn't it...;)
millie- your farrier sounds a treasure.
mhagster - I think that you may need to take a pillow and your p.j's in to work for a bit x
5 for today
1. Got up leisurely watched Vettel in bed etc ..
2. Went into town on a mission to get my mum some perfume that she wants for her birthday . It should retail at about £38 .B***s had it on offer for £25 plus used £2 off £20 spend and double points . I looked around several other places and online but this was the best deal .She will be pleased.
3. Picked some more french beans - they are not stringy yet.
4. RTC roast chicken for tea with all the trimmings. Clean plates all round.
5. Treated myself to some red liquorice shoe laces and ate the lot
Have a good evening all x:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -

well now that you mention it... it wasn't. Though I definitely think I deserve it. My friend L and I have a pact that if either of us win more than £500k we are taking the other for a all expenses holiday to some where hot and sunny the moment the money comes though!
Now while I have your attention Mrs Chicken... can we now stop all this spider talk? I have a morbid fear for the critters and it makes my fingers tingle just thinking about them!
Oh and I was stalking my brother's new girlfriend on FB and it turns out that we have a friend in common... so I have to get all the goss...Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -

Ladyhawk- my suitcase is packed ...can we go somewhere where they don't have s****** ? see I didn't say it....:D:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Since you asked so nicely... no problem! The problem is everywhere warm seems to have the blighters....Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. No problem - it'd be an adventure! That's far less scary than the prospect of being attacked by spiders.... *shudder*Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0

Ladyhawk & Chicken, thanks for no more mention of eight-legged things, I can't even type the word
. If I see a picture of one in a magazine or the newspaper I'll put (throw!) it down and not even pick it up again if I can help it. Daft, aren't I?
Poor you Mhags hope it doesn't last much longer or you'll forget when it's scone day!
CCP you mentioning your one cougette made me smile, I bought one yesterday and a lady beside me at the veg display asked if I live on my own too
keith you get as involved as I do in The Archers. I have to remind myself it's not 'real'
Patchwork I remember that book well, don't know what happened to my copy though. I do still have my copy of Edward Lears Complete Nonsense which is fun
villagelife the rugby has been pants so far. Not the countries many of us wanted to see go through but the semis will be interesting
annelouise you've got to love rubber chicken
1. Woke to a lovely morning after a very cold evening, thought the heating would have to go on but it's been much warmer today
2. The bromeliad my exOH rescued from a garden centre reduced shelf many years ago is coming into flower again, this time growing two stems. It really is amazing considering I forget to water it. Seems it gets enough, though
3. Good lunchtime meet with friends, the usual laughter and good feeling
4. Came home via the pretty route, unfortunately it's the one which goes past, or rather stops at, the garden centre . There were three lovely little blue conifers, just right for the pots in front on the house, and goodness me, it just happened 20% off conifer day
5. Had a nice warm shower, got into fresh jimmies, a cup of hot choc on the side table, dog sitting on one side of me and cat on the other so it's all warm and toastie. Lovely!
Night night, sweet dreams
