Kittikins we tried the food shop but no bulle there either, my friend also said how good it is and was disappointed they didn't have any. next time, perhaps. Well done your DD for doing so well at dance class :)
CCP it was a stunning place! You'll need a whole day, it's vast! We broke for lunch and a much needed cuppa halfway round, then set off do do the other half . So sorry to hear about your DSis, wishing her well and hoping 'they' are able to help her
Ladyhawk fortunately I'm 'of a certain age' and have more or less all I need so not often tempted to spend when I don't need to. However, 'need' and 'want' are two seperate things...;). Pleased you're feeling better and will keep everything x'd for a good result from the game tomorrow.
villagelife the story of your DS2's socks reminded me when my DC were at home, they had what we called floordrobes :D

    1. Slept until 10am!
    2. Managed to almost dry a line of washing before it started to drizzle
    3. Felt a bit grotty overnight so bypassed breakfast and lunch, not the best way to do it but hope that'll help the diet, or eating plan as I prefer to call it.
    4. Popped into the local Mr M, gosh it was busy! Have people heard something I don't know about?! the young couple at the checkout had forgotten their purse so had to put a couple of things back, the 'lady' behind them and in front of me threw such a wobbly at them and the poor lady at the till. They sorted though his pockets and her bag, were only a £ or so short so I offered them the money - after all we've all been there and know how embarrasing it is. They were so grateful and wanted my address so they could repay me, which I refused, meanwhile the so-called lady between us was threatening to call the manager, no idea why. Afterwards I felt sorry for her, perhaps her husband was at home waiting impatiently for the many packs of YS Danishes she was buying ;)
    5. Felt sorry for the English but it was carelessness. Being a bit of a francophile I wasn't desperately disappointed, but tomorrows games will be the interesting ones

    Night all, and g'day Mhags

  • 1) Enjoyed my OU lecture, even though I had to travel to the city centre. If I ever get to finish this course, it should prove to have been a very money-saving way of getting a degree.
    2) Made ourselves eat lunch at home and go out for the coffee later. Then, I'm afraid, we ate a few squares of chocolate while we were there instead of buying a cake to share. However, we need to keep an eye on things at the moment.
    3) My favourite magazine came, so spent the afternoon under a home-crocheted rug reading it. A very simple pleasure.
    4) Am emptying our very small freezer at the moment, in preparation for Christmas supplies, so we had trout for tea, along with some of our left over salad from yesterday. I am pleased to say the slug was spotted before it was eaten!
    5) Managed to tot up what the garden has produced so far this year and it comes to about £150 worth of fruit and veg, mostly because we had an excellent crop of strawberries. I haven't used organic prices, because I feel supermarket quality is more consistent but it's not bad to say that was a lawn last year.

    Have a peaceful weekend.

Sparrer- I found loads of spiders in the hen house under the roosting bars that looked like black widow spiders but with bulging burgundy bodies  I have never seen this type before and don't wish to again really.

Chicken how frightening for you. It's yet another reason for me not to have chicklets, much as I'd like to. The little red ones I can cope with, that sort of thing will literally give me nightmares :(
  • Have had a busy morning as we are on our last school holiday day until our 6 week Summer break at Christmas.

    1. 50min brisk walk enjoying looking at everyones gardens

    2. Stripped the cooked chicken out of the slow cooker -got 2 tubs of stock,2 tubs of white meat,1 tub of stripped bits in stock and a handfulof leftovers for the cats.

    3. Made a dozen krispie cakes for packed lunches.

    4. Persuaded DS1 to eat the leftover baked beans with extra toast for his lunch.

    5. DD2 tidied her bedroom - sorted out books for her brother and charity, games to exchange at games shop.

    6. 2 handbags for charity shop donation

    7. Made 1 large,1 small taco casserole and a baked bean chili to freeze out of 500g mince.

    8. Planted onions, basil, rock melon seeds this morning.

    9. Have chicken tikka marinading in fridge for tea tonight with rice and poppadums.

    10. 2 washes in and hung out.

    Have a great day everyone.

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

    hello!

Evening time here...funny trying to get into the swing of things again....the trial will be getting up in the morning for work!

1.Woke up at 8am after a funny nights sleep. Kids were all wide awake & DD2 was particularly lively! Got caught up on washing & ironing.....oh! same old, same old!

2.Popped into work to get my swipe card & carpark permit, I had very kindly left it for girl who was covering my shifts to use whilst I was away. Luckily she had remembered to leave it for me! Looking forward to be being back to work tomorrow!

3.Went to local mall to get photos developed. One shop is doing them for 9 cents each which is about 5p each, however, because of demand it will be Tuesday before they are ready, which is fine! Had to buy more cereal as a big ,hungry boy was awake at 5am & obviously starving!

4.Having chicken & salad for tea, it is cheaper to buy a cooked chicken in our local grocers than a fresh one!

    5. I'm just listening to DD2 chatting to a neighbour, her pseudo accent has returned! Not Australian but definately not Scottish! Bizarre! She lapsed in & out when we were home in Scotland much to the amusement of friends & family!

So I'm all caught up on washing, ironing. Suitcases all away (until next year!) back to school & work tomorrow. Have written a letter to my new Grand niece, tidied my laundry room, hoovered bedrooms & bathrooms!

I hope you all have a good day, m x

Watched rugby yesterday morning which wasn't a pleasure but pleased Wales won.
DS2 also lost his match but they did play well - the other team was better.

    1. Meeting a friend for coffee and another friend was passing and so joined us.

    2. FIL being slightly better today.

    3. Watching strictly.

    4. All socks being washed!

    5. Repaired a hem on a pair of trousers
  • I love Autumn.

    1. Was amazed last night. My cat Trevor sat watching a fox eating bread on my lawn. Trevor suddenly charged at the fox, running full pelt, and the fox legged it with Trevor in hot pursuit. She's a petite and gentle cat but is clearly game for a Saturday night fight!

    2. No arthritis pain this weekend so planted 200 alium bulbs. Should look good next May.

    3. Made raspberry gin for a Christmas gift, using a recipe from this site.

    4. Got a letter saying an endowment I've paid into for 25 years will pay out next month. This'll make a dent in my mortgage (my job's not secure so I need to prepare for belt tightening).

    5. Too wet to mow the lawn so had a long bath while listening to The Archers. Thank goodness Lilian is going to help Tony pay the Underwoods fine for the infected ice cream caused by Clarrie - and don't start me on Clive Horribin being released from prison....

    Have a great week.
  • The bad news is that the apple tree I have been nurturing for two years in the hope that it is a Bramley - like it said on the label - is in fact some kind of eating apple. DH insisted it wasn't a Bramley and he was right. However
    1) We have a basket full of eating apples on the worktop.
    2) Pureed and bottled some of the actual cooking apples that DH brought home from a friend at work. Also made some lemon curd just before the lemons went off. Pickled the last of the beetroot. The pantry is full.
    3) Text from a friend to say that we're going to walk to the pub on Thursday for a drink. Though I am looking forward to seeing her, I am relieved it is not a meal out.
    4) Just about to break out the chocolate (half a bar saved from yesterday).
    5) Dipped into a lovely book that my Grandma gave me for Christmas in about 1975 (A Child's Garden of Verses - Hilda Boswell). I bet she would have been very pleased to think that I was still enjoying it at 45!

    Evening all,

Yawn... I'm sleepy... Though I have just woken up after a little snooze.

    1) Took my DB1 and FSIL to see the property I'm interested in buying. We also looked at a similar one a few doors down. I'm really torn because I can really see potential in the one I like but I know it will be a lot of hard work and money to get it in to a decent order.

    2) Met up with my DBs, SIL and FSiL for lunch. The pub that we ended up with was nice enough. The one that I booked turned us away because we had out 6 month old nephew with us. Apparently their licence says no kids which is fair enough except I definitely told then that we were bringing a baby with us when we booked. Grr...

    3) Birthday presents from the siblings... a bokashi bin, a water butt and a really lovely recipe book. YAY!

    4) My youngest brother has a girldfriend!!!!!! I don't know how he's managed it but I am so pleased for him as he has taken 14 years to get over his previous one. I am looking to meeting her in a couple of weeks.

    5) Am in the process of making yet more apple jelly. I don't know what I'm going to do with it all!!

    6) Am also making some lemon cordial made with some RTC lemons

    7) Will be speaking to my mum a little later on

    8) Lots of lovely cuddles with my gorgeous nephew.

    9) Big load of washing done. I do one load on 90C every couple of months and this was it.

    10) Took something back to Dun-Elm and got my money back. I've been meaning to do so for a couple of weeks.

    Night night all...
