Evening all
Chicken - I've definitely landed on my feet with this job....and I'm thanking my lucky stars every night
Ladyhawk - I'm very content right now and keeping my fingers crossed it stays that way - it has also emphasised exactly how unhappy I was in my last job
1) Day off :j
2) Long lie in
3) Getting some little jobs done
4) Finding the gardener working round the corner so I could pay him - saved a stamp
5) Little snooze on the sofa this afternoon
6) Text from Mr B to say he was safely back in the country.....unfortunately he has brought flu with him
7) Being woken up this afternoon by Skype and a certain 3 year old wanting to thank Auntie Carolyntia for her birthday present.....and show me all the ones she'd got
Hope you all had a good day. Hugs to those that need them
C xAs my dad always used to say 'Just because you've got the money doesn't mean to say you have to spend it all at once'0 -
5 or so for today. (Friday).
1) Both sons off to school happily. Bigger son and I much better now.
2) In the car, just before we got to school, sons were talking about pigeons. Smaller son said, "Mum, racing pigeons... how do they get them to fly round the track?" :-)
3) Had a good tidy, changed my bed, did 3 loads of washing and cleaned the bathroom.
4) Popped down to see my brother and helped him pick up cider apples. They have an order for 3 tonnes so are just getting them into sacks ready to go.
5) Had chips for tea by the Clee Hills.
6) Just watching the Sixth Sense. Laptop to hand plus hot chocolate and stove going nicely.0 -

1. Postie brought me a rebate cheque from the water board, and a letter saying they're putting my DD up by £2 a month. Crazy!
2. Friend picked me up after her sat nav told her to go a very strange route. She phoned me and she said she was sure the sat nav was niggled by the way it spoke when she ignored its directions
3. A beautiful day, sunny and warm, very blowy, lovely to see sheets on the line. Reminded me of my Grandma's house when I was a child
4. A super, if very long, day at Ikea. Got a few genuine bargains, didn't spend too much (?), had Ikea meat balls for lunch as highly recommended. Perhaps I'd been spoiled as a child by my butcher step-fathers hm faggots, but found them just okay, wouldn't rave about them. I looked for their bulle, sadly they're experiencing supplier issues atm so bought some applecake to bring home instead.
5. Friend came back, we had some tea before she left with a promise to each other that we have to have another day out soon
Night night from a very weary Sparrer0 -
Oh goodness Sparrer, no bulle!!! I was dreaming of a visit to Ikea and possibly Co$tco soon and bulle were on the agenda. Guess I'll just have to make my own now, which are pretty wonderful, but not spectacular.......I also like the little ones in the bag that you get in the food market there, nomnomnom.....but not good for the diet
Yesterday's goodies....
1. OH realised that the reason why he was going to be apart from me tonight was down to his injection, so it wasn't necessarily a reason to stay at home, as I try to let him rest as much as he needs when he's feeling rubbish. So, yippee, he's here and admittedly is feeling pants with the change in season, but is currently keeping my bed warmIt's making me realise how good he's been feeling recently and how I'd forgotten what life is like for him at times
But, he's here, I have bacon in the fridge for him and a never-ending supply of cuddles
2. DD was outstanding at her dance lesson yesterday, they're starting to do little routines for the first time and she just seemed to get them nearly instantly, in both tap and balletSo pleased for my little cherub.
3. DD came out of school saying it was the best day ever (yes, I know she says that every day, but she was hyper-enthusiastic about it!)
4. We popped to the library and I took out 2 books on gluten-free cookery to experiment a bit more for OH. Saved myself lots of cash as I will write out any recipes that appeal and take them back.
5. DD has decided she wants to read some Charles Dickens so having picked up a very worthy tome in the adult section, I took her off to the library aunty who helpfully suggested and reserved some children's versions for her of Oliver Twist and something else I've not read before.
6. DD and I had great cuddles and re-read the story version of Much Ado and she astounded me by regaling me with memories of the play we went to see a few weeks ago.
7. Had a good working from home day, i.e. it was nice and quiet, as Fridays should be
8. Scrubbed the bathroom, just need to tackle the floor and I'll be pleased with it.
9. Spent £33 on food and wine, gulp, which is a lot for me to spend in one go, but I think I've got everything I could possibly need, darn it, apart from plain yoghurt!! Grrrrrrrrrrr, silly me!
10. Received a 10% discount card from Waitro$e in the post, that I can use on every purchase for the next 4 weeks!!! Totally unexpected and very welcome0 -
Feeling much better today. I sorted out my water bill and the meter had bee n misread by an electronic machine. The meter is so far down a hole and the dial small that I can't read it to check. A new bill will be sent for £930 less than the original!!!!
1. Water bill
2. Doing a reverbe and finding 5p - unfortunately just before I had to pay £3 parking.
3. Helpful, caring nurses and HCA's looking after FIL.
4. Understanding friend when I had to cancel our meet up - she had to cancel our last meet up.
5. DS2 complaining he had no socks to wear - I then went and found 23 socks on his bedroom floor in about 30 seconds. The look on his face was the pleasure. I had been telling him to tidy for days and I have decided not to do anything in his room untill he does.0 -
Hello all!!
Hope that everyone is having a Happy Saturday, get well vibes and hugs to anyone in need!
Bit of an  moment this morning when I found oldie pony on three legs in her stable. After ascertaining that her leg was not about to drop off, I poked and prodded and decided that it was probably a (foot) abscess and set about poulticing it, which is not as straightforward as it sounds as pony is never terribly obliging! She is much happier now after pain relief and some extra carrots- she does look a bit daft though with a bright yellow vet-wrapped foot! Will see how she is later and might have to get tame farrier out to have a dig around, but if her history is anything to go by, it will take ages to appear!
Mine for the past couple of days!
1. Day off work yesterday, didn't do much apart from shopping, hosses and housework, but it was nice just to pootle
2. Cooked a successful pork and butternut squash casserole last night and it went down v v well and I have been asked to make it again, pretty please!
3. OH is working lots at the moment, so I spent yesterday evening with my Mum, watching Lorraine Pascale (think I have a bit of a girl crush on her, she is stunning and she cooks yummy things). I have bought mum the new book for her birthday and I am making a the salad tonight that she made with the pancetta and pear
4. Cooking Mum's birthday dinner tonight and I have already done most of the prep- aformentioned salad, prawns in pernod and strawberry and champagne cream gateaux. Not terribly OS, but she is worth it
5. About to dye my hair with RTC dye  then might have a mooch around our localish huge garden centre place and Hobbycraft
6. Just been watching the bunnies play in the garden. Baby bunny can move soooooo fast and her (older) husband struggles to keep up with her. Good job she is tame or I'd never catch her. GSD was lying on the lawn, doing the GSD equivalent of rolling her eyes at me
7. More lovely texts back and to with one of my favourite people0 -
villagelife: don't you just love boys and their horizonatl wardrobes! Well done on getting your water bill sorted out! I still gulp when we get a bill for water here as it was never metered back home. Does make you think twice about using it!
Well, back home! And it does feel like home and that is a nice feeling to have. I have so enjoyed my trip home to Scotland and have loved catching up with everyone & of course meeting my new great niece( all too briefly) However, as I've already said, I have made some important self discoveries. I now realise that here is my home and I was looking forward to coming back here to Australia.
1.After crawling in to bed at 6am, woke up at 1pm & started the task of emptying cases! Had done most of my washing when we came in, (was all in one case) so was glad it was dry to hang it out. Grass was long but no huge spiders so that was a bonus!
2.OH & I went for coffee ( no scones left...we were too late getting in!) then did our shopping which wasn't too expensive but a hang of a lot more than it is in UK!
3.rhododendron bush is flowering in the front garden and looking most splendid.
4.Sorting through my purchases from home! Got lots of nice things. I love hearts so got lots of new ones. Will have to decide where they are all going. Got nice jewellery (all mega reduced in BHS), beautiful paper plates & napkins & cups from Tesco (all mega reduced!) New undies (sooo much cheaper in UK), vest tops & tee-shirts for our summer. A fabulously huge sunhat for 1 pound in Primark....will provide shade to anyone in a 5 mile radius! Deodorant, shampoo & suncream, all much, much cheaper in UK.
5.Kids slept until this evening! DD1 was most surprised that it was PM rather than AM, her reaction was so funny!
6.OH had a clearout of his old clothes to make space for new ones. DD2 has a charity bag collection at school this week so that will get them out the way.
I am still wide awake at 11.15pm....I am very rarely up this late, so I think I'll head to bed & try & sleep!
Enjoy your weekend.0
