I have two thoroughbreds, one 18h/h/ the other 17.2 and he was an ex racer as well but rescued him from being PTS due a heart murmer! Anyway, they are with me now and to stay. They cost me quite a bit but I save on having my own fields and yard and I do all my own livery.

    Anyway, back to subject:-

1 = Cut all the roses back in the front garden and planted up the wall flowers.

2 = Went food shopping and spent much more than I needed to to but allot was either half price or BOGOF and it is storable, so I can do allot more Lidl/Aldi shops along the way without spending a flipping fortune.

3 = Came home and had a nice cup of tea and a couple of hot cross buns

4 = Got another load of washing dried on the line but I now fear this will be the last of drying outside until next year!

5 = Put my feet up to watch a pre-recorded Dallas episode which is being re-run on the CBS channel - wow does it take me back and the clothes.....

    Congrats Aunty Mhagster.

Am very jealous of Ladyhawks 12 hour sleep

    1. Absolute hysterics this afternoon when a colleague accidentally hit the lever on her chair and she went shooting downwards at a rate of knotts! :rotfl:Still making me chuckle now - this afternoon I was crying with laughter
    2. DS doing his homework without any complaint
    3. Left overs for tea - cottage pie from the defrosted hamburgers from the great freezer disaster.
    4. Pride of Britain on TV
    5. Teaching my little band of masters students - very much a pleasure
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Thank you all very much for your kind words & wishes! We popped into hospital at 9.20am for a sneaky visit.....went for the sympathy vote of travelling back to Oz tomorrow. Midwifes kindly let me & OH in.

Of course our new addition is just beautiful & so tiny but perfect! Got to cuddle her this morning & I am so proud of my niece.

Went & got photos developed straight away & framed them for niece & her partner. Got some gorgeous bargainous clothes in Asda & Tesco! Bought her Christmas present too, so have left that with them!

Visited in laws & left their Christmas present with them. DD1 distraught at saying goodbye:(
Had a lovely bacon roll made by FIL.....and a wee snooze!

Visited one of my dear friends & met her new cat who was just so loving.

    Packed & packed & packed!

best bit of day, we all went down to visit new baby and Great Auntie Mhagster bathed her ! Yikes! You forget how tiny they are. She is just beautiful and I wish we were here to see her grow but that's not to be!

So my holiday is almost over ....all packed and ready (physically & mentally )to go back and start my second year of down under life!
It has been wonderful seeing everybody again and I feel quite renewed!
Hope to have a good night's sleep as it will have to do me till we get to Australia.

Catch up with you at the weekend! No doubt with reverse jetlag! x

5 or so for today (Weds).

    1) Had a good tidy.

    2) The mother of one of bigger son's classmates came round with some clothes for my 2 as she had had a clear out. The bag included a new school jumper which will be useful.

    3) Made a date and banana cake out of some very tired bananas.

    4) Roast dinner.

    5) Had fun this evening when I took bigger son to a local school open evening. (Lack of choice here in that there are only 2 schools within sensible driving distance!) This school was the one I went to and about 11 miles away. I took my brother too and he was wandering round in a daze like me, remembering all sorts of things. I couldn't believe (having started there in 1986) that there were still 3 teachers there that taught me!
  • Frith, I imagine the teachers might feel pretty weird at teaching the second generation too!

    1) Had a yellow-stickered box of sushi for lunch, which felt fairly healthy.
    2) Found my favourite jacket under another coat. I was beginning to worry. It's French and has been a real bargain. I must have worn it to work almost every day since I got it.
    3) The Third Musketeer sent me a couple of bars of chocolate and a lovely card to console me because DD has gone to Uni.
    4) DD rang up and DS and his gf came round for tea. A real family evening was complete when my Mum rang me.
    5) Our produce made up most of our vegan meal - chickpea casserole with veggies in, potato wedges, then apple crumble. Definitely money-saving.

    3. All washing being done on economy 7

4.The lovely weather which I fear is now finished as its raining and I;m about to go out for a walk with the dog,

5, Lovely comments at work from a couple of people.

Sadly I paid for it last night when I got stuck into a book and only got to sleep after midnight then woke up with awful heartburn at 5am. At least I think it is heartburn. Having never had it before it certainly is uncomfortable and had left me in pain and feeling rather ill :(

Also not helped by the fact it was my mum's birthday yesterday and she didn't respond to my text in the morning. Then last night I tried to call her and the phone was answered by a complete stranger. when I tried to call back it went straight to voicemail. So I was torn between thinking they had just gone out for dinner and that someone had broken into their house and murdered them. I sent her another text this morning which she still hasn't responded to.... so I called them at home again and my dad answered and all is fine. Phew! I do worry so much about them living so far away and in such a dangerous country.

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

Safe journey home mhagster and so glad you got to have a cuddle with the wee one :)

Ladyhawk :( to bad night's sleep, I had another one myself, but thankfully no heartburn. Glad you managed to get through to your parents eventually, that must have been a tad stressful.....hope you have a hearty breakfast to give you lots of energy to get through the day. I know I need one!

Ladyhawk - we were in the same territory last night, so far as late reading went, but not heartburn. That is discomforting.

Tried posting last night. Managed one[in response to no.1]but text wouldn't stay on screen after that.

Wanted to wish you a safe and happy return to Oz, mhagster and also say that not only your new great-niece started her Life yesterday.

    1. So did little Lucy's six tabby kittens.

    Pics in post 111.

    2. 1st biopsies done, not feeling too bad. Somewhat dopey still, but obeying, so far. Wonderful care and full explanation at every stage.

    3. Tesco Bank's John M. has indeed phoned early this a.m., as he promised 2 days ago We have sortakinda made Clubcard Plus online banking work, but not as before. He is taking these nuisances higher up ladder. Again, it's been a case of Not Broken, Let's Fix it and fouling everything up.

    4. Have been reflecting on extraordinary fact - as I make my way through last Saturday's Grauniad - that I actually agree with a Michael Gove thing on the front page, about children learning another language[or more]early. It all breaks down without funding and dedicated teachers of course, as do most of these easy sound-bite solutions[viz Cameron yesterday on Credit Cards and housing.] But it should be a given.

    5. Couldn't say same for Tanya Gold's splenetic polemic on Will and Kate in same paper. It was also, at base, inaccurate. Googled to see what her particular angsts are/were....enough to be going on with. She's fairly privileged herself, it strikes me.

    6. Will now watch Len Goodman on i-player - Who Do You Think You Are?

The Wind and Weather, with upper case W, are very preesent now. Fulfilling/Copable days, safe journeys and contentment to all - especially those of you who are having workplace stress to deal with. Sign of times, I fear.

Oh yes, kittikins - after hosp. biz, can edit siggie with accurate weight....malheureusement!

Thanks to a temperamental laptop and a gentleman from overseas with not-terribly-easy-to-understand English, I've been (involuntarily) awol for a day or two but thanks to a very kind friend can creep back into the forum to add some pleasures

Ladyhawk I'm so relieved for you that you spoke to your family, I have a friend in the region so understand your concerns.
Mhags what wonderful news! My congratulations to you all. Have a safe flight, look forward to more interesting postings of your life down under when you can

Yesterdays were simple but nonetheless pleasurable
    1. After Monday's entertaining I ate a little and slept a lot
    2. Had my flu jab - will be a pleasure if I don't succumb!
    3. A couple of biographies from the library which I look forward to starting this evening
    4. An excellent meeting in the evening
    5. As above, a kind friend gave up half an hour of his time after said meeting to look at the laptop, and had it up and running just as it should be. Will invite him and his wife to tea one afternoon as a small thank you

Will be back later with today's efforts, it's all going well so I don't foresee any problems with finding a healthy 5 :)
