5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2
Comments
-
5 or so for today (Tuesday).
1) Bigger son took copies of his film to school (for the other boys who acted in it) and the teacher got to hear about the work they had done on it over the weekend and showed it to the whole class!
2) Lovely texts from MrB. :-) 4 days until I will see him again. Presuming he still wants to, when his sons go to their mother's.
3) Picked 2 kg of sweet chestnuts and there are more that are nearly ripe.
4) Collected a big bag of sloes.
5) Did loads of little odd jobs e.g car insurance quote, got a cheaper deal with BT, got up to date with washing.
6) Had what I wanted for tea which could include things the boys don't like as they were having tea with their father. So I had chicken kievs (well, they DO like them) with potato then courgette and mushroom - 2 much loathed substances! Then creme brulee for pudding.0 -
Mmmmmm, creme brulee, slurp! and I'm sure MrB will want to see you as soon as he possibly can

Frith - I want you to pour yourself a glass of wine as my corrective for this:
;Presuming he still wants to,' Now, now - that's one bit of retro we DON'T go in for. We'll put it down to a slight case of 'boys . . . . having tea with their father.'
1. Strange day - 7 hours of trying to sort out sth important. Still unresolved and can't resume before Thursday as tomorrow is
2. Addenbrookes all day - OS pleasure? Not exactly, but have to have faith in this great teaching hospital being close and will be hoping deeply.
3. Again battery life has leaked from car, unused since friend came the other day and we recharged it. At least I found out now, not in morning , with early appts to keep. After much internal agonising, rang her again, after ringing my wonderful Fen boys, and she will come again to get me started after tomorrow, so I can take it over for Deep Probe. She did not mind in the least. It's me that does.
4. Was closing computer down, but spotted this Thread:
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3490153
-and maybe one of you can also help?
5. I've seen a couple of sniffy reviews about Stephen Fry's Language series. I have caught up with it on i-player and think it is superb [as I do with all things Fry]
6. Can't believe your time here is all but up, mhagster[ think it's flown as fast for all of us as for you] but I feel a deep, quiet pleasure to read of your recognition that Australia calls, too. Don't forget Susan Duncan everyone.
Mmmm, Frith - Crème brûl!e, j'adore!CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

I apologise for posting again, but I'm not settling - just scooting around as I ostensibly shut this down before more reading in bed. It's led to 5 more:D:o
1. I was reading 'All Blacks "let's do it for Carter" article, re: the team wanting to win for DanC, now ruled out, beneath which a Forum poster has added-
Leonard Cohen once wrote "There is a crack, a crack in everything. That's how the light gets in."
A crack could be anything that "goes wrong" in one’s life -- relationships, finances, work, health, a team mate's injury etc. First you suffer, then (potentially), you let go of your attachments and move on. And so you are forced to go deeper within, to a place of peace and silent power where you can achieve more. As my school's motto was 'Kia kaha kia toa' (with strength, succeed).
Late-night mind on my part maybe, but there's something there to hang on to.
2. Going to another email addy I have for certain things[including Sotheby's], was this:
http://view.sothebys-email.com/?j=fe8d15727260017572&m=fe9715707766077472&ls=fdea1573726d0c7576107372&l=fec515727263037f&s=fe2715727c610779721479&jb=ffcf14&ju=fe561579736202757717&r=0
I've watched The Artist and The Collector and much look forward to the other 2.
3. Found another em - blast from the past, asking about stuff done in my NZBC days for some book/archive. Wrote words for some rugby anthems when our province was top of tree for some years. Another Life....lots of recall going on, think I need a tea.
4. Checked another couple of online auction catalogues - a couple of interesting lots.
5. Grayson Perry in trailer for upcoming prog on BBC4 next week....and in the meantime there's always Alan Measles:
http://alanmeasles.posterous.com/?page=2
and I hope you have every intention of visiting this:
http://www.britishmuseum.org/whats_on/exhibitions/grayson_perry/introduction.aspx
which GP has curated.

Goodness, it's tomorrow already, but I began this yesterday.
Sweet dreams everybody.

mhagster - so glad baby will be here to say Au Revoir before you leave, guilt-free, BECAUSEa Tuesday scone is merely rehearsing for the Southern Hemisphere Saturday scone and therefore does not count...if that helps.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

Late post due to not having internet connection yesterday evening !
mhagster- congratulations ! This seems the "right" end for your visit , before you return to Oz.
Ladyhawk-sometimes my written word can come across as a bit blunt , so I wanted to check that I had not inadvertently upset you !
CCP- I am sorry to hear about your return to work. There will come a time when you are able to reciprocate and take some workload off of your colleagues , thats the ebb and flow of being part of a good team. I am sure that they know this but I guess its hard to see for yourself when you are feeling vulnerable. (( hugs )) to you and good luck with your meeting with your manager.
millie -LOL re the farrier:rotfl:I was given an ex racehorse ( long story but I used to ride him every day when he was racing) he hated all men without exception. The farrier used to visit and every time would say "can someone catch Louis" although he was already in the stable , with a head collar on ... he would "gallop" round and round until a female came along to tie him up.
5 for yesterday
1. half day at work
2. day off tomorrow
3. Home made chicken nuggets for tea made with own breadcrumbs from OH's discarded loaf !!
4. I have painted my nails a strange blue colour - a bit like Lady Gaga's current hair colour . I don't usually have nails and fear that they will break now that I am at work typing again. The chickens won't come near me with it on:rotfl:
5. My 2 for 1 magazine subscriptions came through today. Christmas gifts for two family members - I was getting concerned as I had not heard for over a month and the cheque did not show on last months bank statement. Saves me a lot of hassle- phoning the company etc..
Have a good day all x:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Congratulations, Aunty MHagster!0
