Another lovely day in more ways than one

Chicken I'll have to be strong to resist the candles, I have a double wall cupboard full in my kitchen but it's never enough!
Ladyhawk I was 34 when I met my husband and had our son 3 years later, so never say never. However I admire you for wanting to adopt, it would be a better world if more people had your attitude
Rainy-Days well done on swapping suppliers, I'd love to but don't have the confidence to choose the right one

    1. A very, very kind MSE'er sent me a big envelope of tea bags to add to my winter store, she knows my penchant for teas of many kinds and I'll enjoy every cup. Thank you :)
    2. Got up at 6am to start cooking and cleaning, the house looks super and I won't have to do any more cleaning for, oh, at least another day ;)
    3. Even the pets behaved today, I only had to vac the lounge twice. Two white cats and a long-haired black and white dog don't always make life easy, wouldn't give them up for the world though
    4. Two friends and two American visitors came for dinner this evening. Was very gratifying when they all had seconds and one of the Americans asked for the recipe :)
    5. Was warm enough to sit in the garden til 9pm.

    Night night, sweet dreams
    S x

Glad your dinner went well Sparrer x

I always read this thread and have determined to start posing more often. Here goes.....

    1. Lovely sunny and windy weather so my clothes dried in an instant on the line.
    2. Cuppa and chat with my online and real life friend Mooloo.
    3. Excited as it is her DGD birthday tomorrow and I have made her some fairy cakes for nursery which my DD decorated. They turned out very well.
    4. Blog details from my oldest friend in Germany. Reading it has mafe me feel so much closer to her:T:T:T
    5. Having a burst of energy today and getting on with little jobs that really needed doing.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Hello!

Many pleasures over last few days!

Spent the weekend with family, 13 of us having an early , surprise celebration for my sister's up coming 50th birthday as we won't be here then. So much fun, laughter, music and memories!

Whilst in that neck of the woods we also visited my SIL and had a fabulous afternoon in her absolutely gorgeous house! A new to us extension had been added & is just stunning. My kids have thrived within the love of their extended family. So good to see , as of course ,it has just been our wee capsule family for the past year.

Still no baby :( however, enjoying my niece's company everyday. Keep telling 'bump' to get a move on but it aint listening!

Visiting friends & just being part of their lives is so wonderful. I feel very 'topped up' with love & friendship, which, is of course what I have sorely missed this past year. I hope I still feel as topped up when we go back (in 2 days !)

Realising that I am looking forward to going back to Australia. This has been such a surprise for me but I do actually like the place! Spent the first 6 months miserable & the last 6 months wishing my time away to come here on holiday & hadn't realised that I am actually happy there!

Only 2 full days left :( Need to think about packing up & hoping our purchases of bargainous items don't take us over our bagagge allowance. An evening with old colleagues planned for tonight and maybe a baby? Surely a baby?

Hope you are all well, not had much chance to read through everyones pleasures as our internet has been temperamental. Have a great day ! x

Sparrer - go on to Uswitch and it is sooooo easy to do. You have a choice who to go with and a seven day cooling off period. It is very simple we were with British Gas for a long time then we switched to NPower now it is Scottish Power! We shal probably do the rounds with all of them by the time we are finished! :D

    1. Well four loads of washing dried in no time on the line today with this wonderful wind. On top of all the washing pretty much before the weather turns!

    2. Cleaned the house right through a really deep Autumn clean which I have enjoyed doing. Seeing everything gleam is happy days!

    3. Found a nearly full bottle of Zoflora in the garage store cupboard (I put all my cleaning stuff and BOGOF things out there, old cupboards from the house when we had a kitchen refit and are very useful) which made the floors in the house smell wonderful and I also found a tube of Woods of Windsor Gardeners hand cream under the kitchen sink as well which I have pressed into action.

    4. Making the most of this final week off before I go back to work so trying to make my days count and so far succeeding! Just need to make headway now with knitting that final scarf!

    5. Had a glance through Delia Smith's book 'Christmas' as I am probably this year going to make our own Christmas puddings. I will need to write a list of ingredients to get.

    Today = a NSD too. :j
Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money :D

It feels like it’s been a busy day

1.I had a phone interview with what sounds like a nice bunch hopefully, now for the 2nd interview on Friday.
2.A phone call about another role I really like to interview on Thursday.
    3. In between this cleaned the kitchen and all of the upstairs and put clean bedding on.
    4. Got a load of animal bedding washing done and out on the line.
    5. I have the last set of curtains going in the wash now hoping to catch the wind before the rain arrives.

Not a NSD as had to pay the phone bill.

I was inspired by the previous post to look up how to make a christmas pudding, but perhaps I know my own lack of cooking skills, looked at it and justified buying the courvosier m&s pud as we tend to each year :-0

I hope you don't think that I meant that you were actually "with child" - I was thinking more of an innate feeling of nesting. Sorry if you thought that I meant it in another way :o I agree that there are lots of children in the world that need and deserve to be loved .

Chicken - I was joking... sorry I didn't mean to confuse.

Sparrer - If it happens, it happens. I just would rather be pleasantly surprised when/ if I meet someone then spend my life hoping and perpetually disappointed that I have been left on the shelf.

I am pooped today... we had a work charity dinner last night and I only got to bed at 3.30am. I am sure that the red and white wine and the champagne was off.... Cue very little being achieve at work today. It was fun though.

    1) Working from home yesterday and getting lots of work done (and squeezing in a litte snooze in the afternoon)

    2) NSD (as I was working from home I made myself a yummy sandwich with Y/S quorn slices, HM bread and HG tomatoes.)

    3) Crying with laughter over a silly email that was doing the rounds about autocorrect on text messages. :rotfl:

    4) Sitting outside in the park at lunchtime with a lovely colleague A. She's quite new but I think we are going to become good friends.

    5) Leaving work early and getting home by 5pm. Lovely!

Night night all... this little hawk needs some sleep!

    Man plans and God laughs...
Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

    Evening all.

Well, I've just finished my second day back at work after my week off and I'm already back to feeling thoroughly stressed and miserable - I was actually in work for less than an hour yesterday before my hands started shaking. :( I've got a meeting with my manager next week as I clearly can't go on like this but, in the meantime, I'm determined to find at least some pleasures each day. (Thank goodness for this thread, eh? ;):))

    1) Took a HM lunch in to work today - crab and wasabi noodles. (Not nearly as expensive as it sounds, actually - the crab was tinned and came from Approved Food, as did the noodles, and the wasabi dressing was bought on special offer. :money:)

    2) A work colleague taking over a couple of jobs for me, despite the fact he's technically my senior and should be delegating work to me, and not vice versa. :p

    3) Popped into T**co at lunchtime for some binbags and found my favourite cheese - mature red leicester - RTC.

    4) Picked another double handful of HG tomatoes - coupled with pleasure 3 I can see cheese and tomato sarnies for lunch later this week. :D

    5) Cuddles with the mog when I got home from work - sometimes a fur-covered purr is just what you need. ;)

mhagster - I'm loving reading your posts - they just shine with happiness. :) I really hope the baby makes an appearance soon.

sparrer - I'm glad the visit went so well.

Chickenopolis - I'd demand that lollipop now they've mentioned it! ;)

Have a lovely evening, all - I must go and at least look at the question for my first OU assignment, as it's due in less than a week.
Back after a very long break!

    Big fat OS fail today!!

    1. Ended up buying a cup of tea when I was lecturing this morning, despite having my travel mug with me (ran out of time)

    2. M&S sandwich for lunch (aghhhhh)

    3. Went into town after work, ended up buying another expensive drink

    4. Bought some not-very OS birthday pressies for my Mum (Clinique)

    5. Waitrose, shove-in-pan posh pasta for dinner (was nice though!)

Tomorrow will be better; ponies are having their 6 weekly pedicures (please, old git, don't bite the farrier's bottom again, it was embarrassing last time) and I am taking a packed lunch for me and ponycarer. We will drink countless cups of tea and put the world to rights!!

Hugs to all in need xx

Hugs CCP, I hope your manager is as lovely as mine was when I was stressed with work, thinking of you x

    1. Yay, cuddles with OH this afternoon :):):):) Shame he's not here now but not long til Thursday (although he's babysitting whilst I'm out..*sigh*)

    2. Low spend day, got YS goodies (parsnips, chillis, carrot/broccoli mix, bread etc etc), but still shouldn't have spent as much as I did.....oops! The YS chocolate bar shouldn't have made its way into my basket!!

    3. My quartermaster's stores provided rice for a friend in need tonight :)

    4. Watching the bake off, then Hairy Bikers - a perfect night, whilst also texting OH who is watching the same :) Shame he doesn't eat gluten or dairy but I've discovered there's a gluten-free book in my local library that I'm hoping to nab tomorrow so I can make something yummy for Sunday lunch.

    5. Nice chat with butcher in Waitro$e when buying a piece of meat for the weekend, do love their staff :)

    6. A lovely colleague has just come back from maternity leave, so it was nice to have a good natter with her :)
