Firstly - Congratulations Great Aunt MHags! How special that you get to meet the little one before you go.

millie -LOL re the farrier:rotfl:I was given an ex racehorse ( long story but I used to ride him every day when he was racing) he hated all men without exception. The farrier used to visit and every time would say "can someone catch Louis" although he was already in the stable , with a head collar on ... he would "gallop" round and round until a female came along to tie him up.

Like all men... they settle down when a good woman comes to tie them up...

    Evening everyone,

Fairly good day today... a definite improvement on yesterday... it's amazing how a 12 hour sleep can set you up for the day!

    1) 12 hours sleep last night... just what I needed

    2) NSD - HM lemon curd on HM toast for brekkie and yummy salad filled with all sorts of goodness for lunch.

    3) Email from one of the VP of special projects at one of our biggest competitors about a potential job... I called him back after work and left a message... I'm intrigued! ETA - he's just texted me to say he will call me in the morning.

    4) Good 121 with my boss.

    5) oooh... am struggling for a 5th... may have to pop back later for it...

    L

Editted... a exboyf called me this evening for a chat. We had a very amicable chat which is always nice.

Oooh, 12 hours sleep, that sounds divine ladyhawk, you lucky thing!

    1. Waking up and reading the news that mhagster is a (great) aunty :)

    2. DD slept in her own bed all night last night :)

    3. Found a suitable card and gift card for OH's son's birthday and arranged to have them sent off

    4. Helped a friend by taking her to the osteopath as she's hurt her back :(, but it was nice to have a good natter and to pass on helping on after I've been well looked after in the past (and hopefully will be when I have my surgery!) :)

    5. DD went to play at a chum's after school and had a great time :)

    6. I put a bit more money into my holiday fund as I realised my mobile bill is less than anticipated this month, by the whopping sum of 52p!! ;)

    7. Won big on the Euromillions last night - £5.70, woohoo!!

    8. Bought some cheap nightwear on Ebay, far far cheaper than in the shops and it's still got the tags on, yay.

    9. Didn't offend a friend by making edits/corrections to her website yesterday, phew!

    10. Good day at work

    11. Formal letter from the clinic rejecting me for the operation so I can now get on and hassle the main hospital, gulp!

    12. Arranged a babysitter for one of my nights out, and OH has changed his traditional babysitting night to a different day as I'm very popular that week! Just one more to find......and I've budgeted for babysitters, phew!

    13. Made a strange but thankfully yummy dinner and will have leftovers for lunch tomorrow, nomnomnom.

    14. Great lesson at school I volunteer at, managed to get one of the girls to read for me :)

    15. Sharing the goodness at work by giving my newspaper to a colleague, saving her £1/day (and the paper is free for me as my parents have given me their subscription vouchers whilst they're away) :)

    16. Nice chat on the phone with OH's mum.

    17. OH told me that his aunty who is visiting them again likes me - like d'uh, I hadn't worked that out, she's lovely and of course would like me, as I do have my moments, we've met a few times and she's yet another person I'd like to adopt as my relative !! :)

    18. Managed to get a parking space when dropping DD at school.

    19. Read a presentation at work about time/energy management and it confirmed that what we do on this thread is very good for our mental health - it suggested writing down at least 5 good things that have happened every day, and look, I'm at 19!! I love having this space to share.

Right, having taking up a good part of the page, I'll try to chivvy DD to bed and think I might try and treat myself to an early night myself with a good book. Having had such rubbish sleep last night, maybe I need to take up a book and see how I get on....toodlepip!

EDIT: and a 20th, phew, glad about that, I like a round number :):)

    20. A friend has popped over with a huge bag of gorgeous clothes for DD, she's gone up to bed in some new PJs and is going to make the friend and her family a chocolate cake to say thank you. I'm going to have a good look at them and see what I can pass down of DD's to another little girl over the next few days.

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
Evening all from a very weary CCP - I had great trouble sleeping last night, presumably because I'm so stressed. :(

    1) Signed up to do a product trial of a new type of breakfast cereal. Sadly I discovered after signing up that it looks like a variety of cereal I'm not too keen on, so I might be back on the forum within a week searching for ways to use it up. ;)

    2) Ordered a voucher for a free frozen pizza from the MSE email. :money: I don't usually eat ready made pizza but it'll be a useful sort of thing to have now I'm studying again, for an evening when finishing an essay on time takes precedence over cooking. :o

    3) Took the contents of my piggy bank (well, a kitty bank really as it's Bagpuss-shaped ;)) to the bank - it's amazing how much all the shrapnel adds up to. (£47, in fact! :D)

    4) Picked a nice, big HG tomato for my sarnies tomorrow.

    5) Made a start on my university essay, intending to write a rough plan, and before I knew it I'd written a whole mini-section. :)

mhagster - yay! What a wonderful piece of timing - little'un couldn't have timed that better if she'd tried. :D

Have a lovely evening, all - I'll be off to bed as soon as my loaf of bread has finished cooking (sadly not for another hour or so yet, as I forgot to switch the BM on when I got home ).
Back after a very long break!

    Good evening all!!

Kittikins- Wow ! thats a whole lot of pleasures - how lovely

Ladyhawk- Glad to hear that you are refreshed after your "power nap":rotfl:You certainly sound it!!

    6 for today

    1. Not really a pleasure spending any money , but got a few good deals buying toiletries in bulk, using vouchers in B**ts etc.

    2. 5% off of book of 1st class stamps.

    3. I know ..yawn yawn - I got yet another copy of the "take away secret" for a friend at work.. It was the last in the shop as I have already purchased the rest of them. I proudly said this to the person on the till who said "it doesn't look that exciting" . "Huh" I said "page 96 ..Chicken Pakoras " Till person then had a good read through it and changed her mind...

    4. Page 96 , Pilau rice, veg curry, prawn curry, naan bread and onion bhaji's for tea. Very OS as I had all of the ingredients already except for the prawns , that were on offer for in Mr. S. - it took ages to prepare and only minutes to consume , but it was lovely.

5.I "found" a large clump of coriander in the garden hidden under a cloche. I did not plant it anywhere near there .Still it was nice and fresh to use in the above meal.

    6. A cheeky squirrel running up and down my fence panels - the chickens "bokked" at it and it froze for a few seconds, bok...freeze.bok.. freeze this continued for quite a while. It did make me laugh as it was not at all phased by me.

Have a good evening all x

millie -LOL re the farrier:rotfl:I was given an ex racehorse ( long story but I used to ride him every day when he was racing) he hated all men without exception. The farrier used to visit and every time would say "can someone catch Louis" although he was already in the stable , with a head collar on ... he would "gallop" round and round until a female came along to tie him up.

Ex racers are a special breed, aren't they? But they can turn their hoof to so many things, with sensitive handling. My first proper horse was a little TB and he was so sharp, but such an adorable "person" and moved like an absolute dream (did a bit of dressage with him, before he sadly fractured his cannon bone and was PTS). I'd have another in a heartbeat

    My five for today

    1. Farrier day went well, yay! I was in work first thing and by the time I got there, he was almost done (thankyou ponycarer). Oldie had behaved (thankyou god) and was in her stable complaining loudly when I arrived. Even 8yo, the on/off lame one, got on ok as she sometimes struggles flexing her bad leg and also weight bearing for any length of time on three legs when one is her bad one. Farrier is v v pleased with them both, but esp oldie!!

    2. Had a nice chat with farrier and ponycarer over a packed lunch and cup of tea. Lots of dodgy jokes from farrier that kept making me spit my tea out!

    3. Ponycarer has been feeling a bit sad recently, so I made her a little package of nice things (candles, little chocolates and some freebie clinique stuff I had hanging around) and hid it in her basket for her to find when she got home. She loved it :D Small things, big difference

    4. Had a couple of hours to kill before feeding so popped into local town for a mooch and picked up a few bargains, incl some cardmaking bits (anyone else make cards?)

    5. Came home and had a chill out with my book and then had a snooze - guilty pleasure!

    6. Mum gave me some posh choc marzipan, from her friend's hubby, who is a chocolate importer *dreamjob*

millie- OMG - mine had a spiral fracture of the cannon bone. I got a call when I was at work as it had broken when he was galloping around the field with his mates. The bone had pushed through the skin and the hoof was just dangling - hideous , he saw me and tried to walk up to greet me ...I still have regular nightmares about this and it must be almost 20 years ago now :(
