Evening all,
Ouch - I have toothacheI bit into a little stone at lunch time and its been aching ever since. I have taken some dichlophenac which has't seemed to do much.
1) I had a meeting up near Doncaster... I got the train so spent a couple of hours just chilling and finishing my book.
2) My lovely colleague A was very perky this afternoon when I got back from my meeting. She is very funny.
3) NSD
4) Received a package of goodies in the post which I naughtily ordered on Saturday morning. It also contained a few Christmas presents that I have ordered to get free postage.
5) Received a toothpaste sample in the post. I don't remember ordering it but it must have been related to this lovely site.
6) Yummy HM banana and walnut bread
7) My lovely colleague J bought our little team (not that I am part of their team but I sit them them) little ginger halloween biscuits in the shape of bats which were really yummy.
8) I was invited to lunch with the entire PR team at work to say thank you for my support over the past year, which was really touching. At least someone appreciates my help! Pity we had to book it for January to ensure we can all make it!!!
I have my interview tomorrow with our competitor tomorrow...wish me luck
Night night everyone...

Evening all.
I haven't had a good day today - it was meant to be the day of The Meeting with my manager, but she wasn't at work today.Apparently she had to go to a funeral, which is quite understandable, but surely she could have told me rather than just not turning up?
Then, when I got home, I found the mog had been sick on the kitchen floor - I suppose I should at least be grateful that he didn't do it on the carpet.
Pleasures are therefore in somewhat short supply today:
1) Watching a friend / colleague playing with the flying monkey toy we got her as a joke birthday present. It had us all in hysterics - goodness knows what the people in the other offices thought was going on! :rotfl:
2) Picked a few more HG tomatoes...
3) ...and had some with a bean and sausage pasty from the freezer for dinner. (Reminder to self - don't bother meal-planning anything that needs cooking when an essay is due - it just ain't going to happen!)
4) Cuddles with the mog, although his habit of hugging my hand with both front paws and all claws means I now look and feel like I've had a fight with a tiger.
Ladyhawk - I hope your tooth feels better soon, and good luck with the interview tomorrow. I think the toothpaste sample must have been off here, BTW, as I got one the other day too.
Purple kitten - I totally agree with you about books. I spend most of my working life looking at a screen, so I don't want to be looking at one while reading as well!(Obviously this forum doesn't count...
) Well done on today's interview, and good luck for tomorrow's - I hope you get whichever job you like best.
villagelife - mmm, chestnuts. :drool::drool::drool:
Have a pleasant evening, all - I'm feeling tired and essayed out, so I think I'll be off to bed shortly. (As my sister would say - "don't call me 'shortly'!")Back after a very long break!0 -
Ladyhawk - hope your tooth recovers. I'm terrified of anything going wrong with my teeth and needing to have work done. (They're pretty tough, thank goodness).
CCP - sorry to hear about the lack of meeting and the cat sick.
Feeling a bit over-sensitive this evening which is annoying as I haven't had a bad day at all. So here's my 5 or so for today (Tuesday).
1) Boys off to school happily.
2) Mended the washing machine! OK, I only had to clear the filter and pipe (lots of coins and some long pine needle things) but it gave me a sense of achievement. :-)
3) Had the rest of yesterday's fish pie for my lunch.
4) Walked down to mum and dad's.
5) Made 2 more bottles of sloe gin. (I think we have 9 now, plus 2 or 3 bottles of blackberry gin).
6) Nearly forgot as it seems so long ago - waking up with MrB. :-)
Only bad news for today is when I tried to bring some logs in. The logpile is just teeming with queen wasps who are starting to hibernate. I thought they didn't sting - well, they do - and badly! So got a sting in the palm of my hand that even has a bruise round it!0 -
1) A bag of cooking apples. They're a bit battered but I can't believe that no-one else at work wanted them. They filled the car with a lovely smell on the way home.
2) Yellow-sticker fish for tea. I can't understand why it's usually so expensive when we live on a sea-faring island. I suppose it's something to do with quotas.
3) Cup of tea and a chat with an old friend after work. It seems so much better to meet regularly for a little while than save it all up and lose the detail.
4) Still wearing my £2.50 trousers.
Can't think of a 5th, unless I can count the prospect of going to bed early. It may be harder to get up on a dark morning but I know I'm going to sleep at night.0 -

Diclofenac is an anti-inflammatory more than a pain killer, I take it for my back...takes a few days to kick in when you start taking it, although it does ease pain then caused by inflammation.
I'm not 'supposed' to take any other aspirin based pain killers, when I was in agony with some sort of toothache a couple of months ago, the absolute bestest ever pain relief was swilling the tooth around with a warm solution of soluble asprin. Just for a the odd day I'm sure it was fine!

Evening
Ladyhawk - Good luck for tomorrow
Pleasures for today;
1. Walk to work this morning over the common. Much nicer than walking along the A30. Saw a really pretty bird but no idea what it was, may have to have a look in the library at a book on birds as I'm rubbish at knowing what there names are.
2. Using a can of free soup for lunch with some HM bread
3. Good chat with my mum on the phone and she is sounding much brighter at the moment. She is bi-polar and had been going through a low patch but she seems to be coming out of the other side :T
4. Managed to get through a training session with someone at work and kept calm. She has a habit of not listening and not reading her instructions but hopefully some of it went in today.
5. Friends of Guides meeting tonight and have two events to help out at. Nice to catch up with the rest of the volunteers.
Hugs to all who need them0 -

Ouch, ouch, ouch!!! You poor thing! Hope you managed to get enough logs in even if you were savagely attacked in the process.
Thanks Tealady... fingers crossed that they will want to offer me a VERY exciting project and pay me lots of money in the process.Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. ampersand are you okay?
Ladyhawk oil of cloves from the pharmacy, applied with a q-tip, is good for the nagging ache. Hope it goes soon, if not sooner
Frith I believe a slice of tomato, which is said to draw out the sting and neutralise the poison, is a good remedy for wasp stings.
Both good old fashioned remedies but imho better trying those first than spending a fortune on chemicals
Patchwork I agree about the fish, I'd live on it if it wasn't so expensive
1. Got up to sunshine again, making the most of these bright mornings
2. Emptied, cleaned and refilled the three large pots at the front of the house, this time with blue conifers. Keeping my fingers crossed the local cats don't destroy them, as they have done with so many nice plants I've put out there
3. Weeded and cleaned the front paving, looks all spick and span now
4. Gave the eucalyptus a hard prune, it's now a strangely eerie shape but pretty useful for the winter hanging baskets. The frost killed half of it last Winter so hoping it will regrow into a better shape - if it regrows at all!
5. I also got a wee tube of toothpaste today, which has been put into my travel washbag. I don't recall sending for it either, but must have been from here as others have received it too
Night night, sweet dreams

My five are
1. A NSD
2. Taking lunch into work.
3. An afternoon meeting meant I got home at a reasonable time and was able to collect a parcel from post office.

5. Soup and sandwiches for tea.0
